One of my all time favs for brick oven pizza. No too many complaints here. Their pastas are not bad either.
I will say that only the calezone was a bit of a disappointment. It's done a bit better at Marcellos. -

After a bad experience at a Restaurant down the street that we had to walk out of, we thought we would try tried and true Lombardo's (besides we already paid for parking :(
Normally a great time here but today they were a little off, minestrone soup had no noodles (we were there for lunch and it seemed like they just opened the can)
Green salad came across as if it was from last night... pizza bread was fresh
We had the meat lover's pizza and it was a tad greasy but excellent, they use meat that actually taste like it is meat (not industrial sausage) cheese was ooowie and goowie... too bad about the crappy soup and salad -

The best pizza in Vancouver can be had here. Now, let me be clear, I am not saying that all Lombardo's pizza is better than all other pizza in Vancouver, it's not. Nor am I saying that on any given night you will have better pizza here than anywhere else. What I am saying, is that when their best pizza is good, it is very very good indeed.
So, what is their best pizza? Brace yourself, especially if you're a carbophobe (but really, why are you reading about pizza anyway, in that case?). It's their potato pizza, La Giulia.
As a general rule, I am inclined to agree with folks who think potatoes on pizzas are redundant. But in the case of La Giulia, they're just succulent and scrumptious. Add to that the consistently best pizza crust in town and a lovely pesto sauce, and you have a really heavenly pie.
I have to confess, I'm so enamoured of La Giulia, I've only ever had one other pizza from Lombardo's, their Caprese. To it I can only give mixed reviews. The crust is of course fab, but a Caprese is only as good as its tomatoes, and I find they are inconsistent. I'm not sure how you could find out if they had good toms in on any given day, short of eating in and looking around to see if anyone else was eating a Caprese, and if it had deep red tomato slices on it. That sounds like a lot of work. It's never BAD, I just can't guarantee you that it will be great.
Even La Giulia can be a little uneven - I think their Sunday chef is maybe not the same guy who makes it on Thursdays, our house's most common pizza night. I don't know. It was still good when I got it on a Sunday, just not quite as mind-blowing as usual. -

Wonderful pizza! Me and my girlfriend decided to randomly stop by here last night while walking by. Glad we did. Great pizza! Helpful staff!
Definetely got to go back for a sit down dinner! -

I keep coming back to Lombardos every so often when I visit Vancouver...each time reminded of why I continue to do so. I'm in Richmond visiting....have friends in Burnaby...I decide to brave Friday rush hour traffic and pick up a pizza on the way...to make a long story short.....
The large pizza is $30. I had the vegetarian...I think # 8 on the menu (??). There was nothing ....and I mean ....nothing ....on the pie. A couple this ....a couple that. Cheese was sprinkled here and there.
If I'm going to yield $30 to you, Mr. Lombardo...it better be memorable ....each and every time. I'll be calling....not for any handouts ...but to be sure that you recognize you have a problem in the kitchen.
FIX the problem (please).1 Previous Review: Show all »

Really fantastic thin crust pizza, best on the drive. I've only gotten pizza here and I've only done take out so I can't really say much else. The restaurant is in a tiny little shopping mall but is open to the mall as if it were a sidewalk cafe. It looks very inviting and I'll have to actually stay for a meal some time!

My Italian Coworker recommended this restaurant to try a few years back so here I was on Sunday at 5pm. I didn't make any reservation, and it was inside the mall on Commercial. Me and my sister ordered Pizza of the day and Penne with Shrimp and scallop. The pizza was pesto with chicken and sun dried tomatoes. The pizza was great! Fairly thin, oven baked, and yummmmy!! The pasta was good, too but for the same value, I think the pizza is the way to go!!! I will come back for more pizza! I saw a quite a few Italian families dining so it must be authentic enough?
The wait to pay was wayyy too long, and the server was kept looking at my pinpad when I was paying.. Was she checking to see how much I tip? I think she should look away when I am putting in my pin ##... so I took away one star. Other ladies were very nice and checked on my table several times during the dinner. -

It had been a while since our last visit, so I thought I've give them a go because I was too lazy to head west to La Buca and happened to be driving by.
The place was busy and we scored the last tiny table off in the corner which was fine for our needs and things went well enough until my linguine alle vongole showed up.
I must be spoiled when it comes to pasta. The plate had only two manila clams on it and a pile of rubbery baby clams that likely came from a can. It didn't have that beautiful essence of clam that i order this dish for. The linguine itself tasted bland, as if it weren't cooked in salted water.
My wife's made in-house gnocchi in creamy pesto was bland, and the gnocchi was no better than store bought factory gnocchi; nothing like the beautiful little dumplings I've been spoiled by at La Buca that taste of potato and have a great texture. The sauce needed a lot of salt and parmesan to make it taste ok.
Wanted to, but didn't have the pizza this night, but rated just on the pasta and the foccacia starter, I wouldn't ever go back, knowing how easy good pasta is to make at home, or at places like Campagnolo or La Buca. -

I've been to Lombardo's a few times and it always seems to be either completely busy or completely dead.
Their dishes all taste incredibly good, however they do seem to be lacking a little on their service skills.
The decor seems very cheesy and the atmosphere a little cramped. This is perhaps partially due to the fact it is located inside the middle of the building and you essentially have no windows
Overall it's a decent place to go to eat if you're in the area but it certainly isn't a destination you would purposely go seek out. -

Good house red and great wood-fired oven. Everything else was only so-so.
Food: Salads and appe's were so-so. Any dishes with unplanned wilting of lettuce is a big no-no. Brie-stuffed portabellos were a good example of this bad habit.
i.Heart: Pizza #7 (I know it starts with a C).
Service & Ambiance: For dinner, it's a bit of a twilight zone as it is randomly placed inside this plaza of n (Honger slang for "who knows how long") years. Wind blowing in from the main doors into the open space dining area was unpleasant and made our pizza cold *tear*. Went on a Saturday night and the waitress was attentive. -

I came here over 8 months ago and the pizza was good. The pizza was like the ones I've had in NY/Brooklyn. The owners of Lombardo's on Smithe and this one split. So perhaps this one is under new management or something because the pasta today was really bad.
I had the daily pasta special. It was overcooked and the sauce was bland. I had to sprinkle cheese and spice over it repeatedly to get some taste. When the waitress came by to ask how the food was, I didn't even want to get into it. I was hungry and I didn't want to chance having spit in my re-order.
I just had to use the bathroom so now I'm suspecting that it might have been served to another guest or it has been sitting there for awhile since it was a late lunch. Nope, I have no proof but it's not hard to boil the pasta!
I also ordered the caprese and for the large order, there were 5 thinly sliced tomatoes with tiny cheese over it. The dressing was good though. (For $7, you get 3 slices).
I'll stick to Pacifico's on Smithe. I've been craving their smoked salmon pasta for awhile but now I feel so sick that I'd probably avoid pasta for a few months.
I guess I was comparing the two dishes to the other Lombardo's, now called Pacifico. Pacifico's pasta is great (been there 3 times) and the caprese, well, they were generous with the tomatoes and the bocconcini. -

We ordered 10 pizza's for a house party this weekend and the guests raved endlessly about them... the thin crust style of pizza is such a hit. I really enjoyed all the different flavors. The pizzeria was able to make each pizza half veg and half meat and totally mixed them all up, so easy to serve. It is without a doubt of the top true Italian style thin crust pizza's in the city..

Lucky for me (so it seems), I've only ever had take out pizza from Lombardos - never have dined in. It's even good enough for a romantic evening at home. Yes - that's PIZZA that is good enough for a romantic dinner.

The Caprese Pizza. We LOVE the caprese. (Have to admit I haven't ventured much past the Caprese Pizza. Have I mentioned I loved the caprese pizza? ). mmm, fresh basil, tomatoes, capers, and mozzarella. Lovely thin crust. Yes, it's in an extremely bizarre location (inside a hangar-like mall with plastic plants). But the service is always cheerful - the wine is quite good. They are friendly to our daughter. This place feels legitimately Italian. It's cozy.

you know, i just cant get comfortable in that mall.
there is something creepy about it that just ruined my experience here.
i mean, i never knew that a pizza place existed here - and going there was not easy.. parking etc.. but to see a nice place stuck in a corner of this mall was weird.
