Ummm, where to begin. Deliciousness I suppose. I was surprised by a friend and brought here last night. Wine and cheese. Mmmm. The wine list was extensive and the staff very knowledgable. Pairings were made and tasted so right.

The only problem is they close at 10 on weekdays so I felt a little rushed.

A grand piano sits waiting to played and apparently it does get played on the weekends.

A very romantic atmosphere and a lovely all around decor.

This place is a bit of a rip off. They have a good selection of meat and cheeses, but I couldn't escape the feeling of-I could have bought this at the market and serve it myself for much much much MUCH cheaper. it is really nothing extraordinary. Other food items are also some small snacks, I tried some kind of a soup, can't even remember what it was, and it was average.
If you feel like having a wine with cheese and meats night, I guess it's all right, but better do it at home:)

I'd been here once before and found it okay so decided to take it as plan B when we couldn't get into the sushi place across the road.  I think the menu has changed since I was here last, or perhaps it's just that this time I wasn't rushing to get to Gilbert and Sullivan.

Starting with what worked, I found the Riesling they served to be pleasantly different.  My friend's Shiraz was not the usual and quite satisfactory.  The rest of the wine list looked intriguing.  Full marks there, then.

However, having time to look at and consider the menu, the available choices, and the execution of same - I came away unimpressed.  I've seen menus with charcuterie, cheeses, wines and sandwiches designed and executed well.  Unfortunately I can't say that Lolo is amongst those who have done that.  The menu feels unfinished in some way.  I kept looking for something more on the menu but didn't find it.  So I was vaguely dissatisfied with that.

Once we received our combination of meats, cheeses and condiments chosen by the chef, I was even less impressed.  I didn't feel the choices went well together, nor did they play off one another to offer an interesting contrast.  They just felt mismatched.

Dessert selection was limited at two and the fancy brownie was good but not especially outstanding.  It took rather too long to get the bill as well which reinforced my impression of service that is just okay (I broke with my usual 20% tip practice and gave 15% - a once a year occurrence).

In places less blessed with good restaurants, I would greet Lolo with open arms and relief (Lillooet perhaps).  However, in this town with the choices we have it is simply not up to snuff.

    No reason to go back.

Quality, class and casual elegance. Food is very moderately priced but high on quality.
