You won't find a carrot cake cupcake with vanilla bean or citrus-infused buttercream frosting here, but with that said, Lollicakes focuses on doing a few things, and it does them well.  You have a choice of white or chocolate cupcake, with a mocha, white (can be tinted a bright colour) or chocolate frosting. The cupcake I chose was chocolate with vanilla frosting.  The chocolate cake was light textured and moist, and the vanilla frosting was indulgently creamy and sweet. I'll be back when I'm craving something simple and sweet.

I hate giving cupcake shops a bad review because in general I love them all, but the cupcakes were not worth the bus fair or the long walk to find the place. Im sorry : (.  The cupcake was dry and the pink icing left a strong dye like after taste. The presentation was nice, it looked like it would be really good but just wasen't.

The store itself was nice though, it had a lot of cute cupcake items, ie: key chains, books, holders, etc. Overpriced.... yes. The staff were also not your perky cupcake shop workers, but not roud either.

Maybe I got a bad batch?.

Terrible! Rubbery cake and the frosting had a plastic/chemical taste. The one thing the cupcakes had going for it? It looked pretty.

Run far far away from Lollicakes if you're looking for anything remotely edible.

I don't care if cupcakes are nut- or gluten- free. I don't care if they are organic or not. Honestly, I just want a damn cupcake that would satisfy my cravings. And Lollicake did not do a good job.

They only have a very limited selection of flavors - vanilla or chocolate flavored cake with vanilla or chocolate icing. Other icings all look artificial - neon green and pink (instead of pistachio-green and raspberry/ strawberry pink... or something like that). When I told the lady I wanted two cupcakes with pink icing, she went ahead and grabbed two plain cakes in front of me, took a icing squeezer that was made of a plastic bag with a metal tip and squeezed the icing on top of the cakes. I mean, I know all cupcakes are made this way, but could she at least do it in the back, out of my sight? I just felt I could have done that at home. Especially considering the icings were not "special flavors". The pink just tasted... sweet. Ugh, gross.

Each cupcake is a little under $4, so go figure.

It's actually difficult to rate these cupcakes in a way.  We were treated to them in work by someone who had spent a few weeks there and it was a lovely gesture so I feel a little bad writing a negative review.  The company delivered the cupcakes to work (downtown) for her which I thought was great service.  The cakes looked great.  Some were just regular cupcakes but others were decorated with fantastic chocolate lollies.  Because it was a hospital setting they had moulded lollies of nurses, bandaids, bones etc.  Very cute!
Unfortunately, cupcakes aren't purely about the cute factor.  They're also meant to taste good.  The cake was pretty good-a light and airy chocolate.  The frosting was disgusting.   I will quite happily eat frosting all by itself usually but ended up spitting this out and dumping the whole thing.  It's not buttercream, it's not cream cheese; it's some kind of grainy, synthetic, whipped entity that just tastes of chemicals.  Generally if something has fat and sugar in it, I'll eat it but I had to draw the line when it came to these cupcakes.
I liked the delivery and they looked so cute.  It was a shame that they were essentially inedible.  Is buttercream that difficult to master?!?

Sorry guys. I go to Safeway in the US. It tastes like our cupcakes are being sold here. The cupcake is moist. The icing is a bit too sweet. Prices are pretty average, ~$3 or so.

While Lollicakes doesn't offer a wide variety of flavours (vanilla or chocolate cake with vanilla or chocolate icing), they sure do make a decent cupcake! The cake is light, yet rich in flavour, and the icing is very sugary sweet. Best to pair these $3.00 cupcakes with a glass of milk! Like The Cupcake Shoppe, Lollicakes also offers nut-free cupcakes, but additionally they are certified Kosher. I tried a chocolate cupcake with pink vanilla icing on my first trip to this bakery, and they impressed me by freshly piping the icing to order! Sometimes the littlest touches make the biggest difference.
