Lolabar is a good time. I recently had my birthday here, as it is seconds from my house and I wanted to be within stumbling distance home. I am thrilled we chose LolaBar for our venue. It fits about 40 people, so it as great to have the whole place to ourselves.

The owners did a really great job hosting our party. I arrived to balloons on the patio, and balloons decorating the inside, it was so welcoming and a nice touch. The music was really good, my friends had a great time and everything was perfect.

Honestly I love this bar, and we will completely be using it for more events like this in the future.

Drinks are well priced, everyone is super friendly, killer patio.

A true hidden gem! Located on the south west corner of Dundas and Carlaw, Kramer and Grant do an excellent job of making you feel welcome! A very cool contemporary vibe with some great music being spun by local Dj's. This place also has a killer corner patio outside.
Can't complain when a bar has a "Jagermeister night".

Lolabar is a hidden spot, tucked away at Carlaw and Dundas St. East, just a block north of the Leslieville-Queen St. East strip. The partners "Kramer" Antonoglou and Grant Bobbie opened up this cozy lounge in the summer of 2007 just before the Leslieville real estate boom. They cater to Leslieville regulars, their friends and non-locals that come across the city to check out this spot.

One of the main selling points of Lolabar is their spacious patio with plenty of shade under their canopies and trees. Inside, you'll find a hanging chandelier and long comfy banquettes (which are like L-shape couches) that add to the atmosphere of a relaxing spot to sip martinis while on a date or just hanging out with friends.

From cocktails, beers, liqueurs, to their generously poured martini's, rest assure the owners will guarantee you'll have an awesome time at Lolabar.

it seems to me that with the right approach, this place could be really happening, but mostly during the warmer months aka anytime when it is relatively palatable to completely necessary to sit on a patio with drinks.  you might imagine, then, that this place has a patio.  well you have a great imagination because it is a HUGE patio, the likes of which can compare to stratengers to the southeast and joy bistro the southwest.

without the use of the patio, however, i wouldnt be all that interested in hanging out there for now.  its very nicely designed inside with a snazzy hot red glare, a nice long bar and a few seats.  their specialty is martinis, and i imagine for a martini lover that would be one draw.

one drawback, of a few, is the location.  it sits on the corner of dundas and carlaw which is in the centre of an industrial area that doesnt have much happening around it.  yet if its reputation was strong there would be enough folks that could come there after work, or from a short walk from their condos or lofts nearby.  Plus there is neighbourhood houses around as well.  so the drawback is that its not on a subway line and doesnt have the popularity to make anyone go out of their way.

now why is that? well, there is nothing special about the music that plays there, or the food.  Perhaps a few special items on the menu might attract more people and especially in the warmer months, have a band play outside, maybe.  I dont know if there are any bylaws against that.

Anyhow, the owners name is Leo and he is a welcoming and warm guy (the place is named after his daughter) and maybe he's just sussing it out.  But if you are in the area, check it out for the patio and for the martinis.
