Review from Lori O.
Surrey, BC
I really like the old school feel of Lois Lanes. It's like you're going back in time when you go here. Exactly what I like in a place when I'm looking to have a little silly fun with friends.
The owner was super friendly, even when he was reminding us that we have to keep our alcoholic drinks out of the gaming areas due to BC liquor licensing laws. This isn't really an issue when you're bowling though because they have place to leave your drinks right behind the bowling area. Oh an you're allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks to the gaming areas, just not booze (counter to what one other reviewer said).
Drinks are pretty cheap and we paid $12 for 2 games of bowling making it a good place for an inexpensive night out. -

I wandered into this joint the other night looking for a new local spot to play pool and occasionally drop some knowledge during cosmic bowling...not sure if I've found it.
It's got the vintage (never changed) decor - but they don't have speakers in the pool table area...on top of this, it's way too bright to be a pool hall area. More importantly, while the tables seemed pretty even - almost all of their cues were crap and crooked.
the dude on staff was like "if you want to eat / drink" you need to keep your beverages like 20 feet away and upstairs from your table - lame.
especially when you have ledges by the table for food / drinks..
maybe I need to go back during cosmic bowling hours? maybe i won't... -

Ahh, Lois Lanes! ....I miss how this place used to be- the arcade full of SUPER old-school games, the tiny dance-floor in the Peter Pan party room, the lockers filled with mismatched kids' bowling shoes- they all contributed to my childhood memories.
It comes with twelve lanes of standard ten pin bowling, complete with a rather large billiards room in the back- skills not included.
The old staff were super laid-back and friendly, but I have to admit that I haven't been back since ownership has changed hands; it seems like quite a few things have changed, but I can't say for certain.
Score: back in my day, it was known as THE place for Richmonders to take their first date; now it seems like the place to have your kids' parties- many of whom's parents had their first date here in the first place. Full circle. ...And you thought bowling and billiards were linear sports- go figure.
