How did I not rate The Loden like, 2 seconds after my stay?
I came into town and as a surprise my friend booked me a room at The Loden! It's a little bit hidden among the condo buildings of Coal Harbour, and this place is beautiful inside and out.
The yoga mats they leave in your room are so special! How caring and how very Vancouver. The service was exceptional. A few of us ended up crashing here after an epic night of partying and one staff member brought us some bread for my drunk friend. Again, how effing sweet is that??
I think we got a good deal on this place because it was pretty new when we stayed here. But if you can get a good price the location is fantastic, the service is sparkling, and the rooms are stunning to boot. I wish I could live at the Loden all year round! -

Great hotel, location, and service.
A weekend getaway to Vancouver with the pups was just what I needed.
Jessica at the front desk was very gracious and allowed us to check in a few hours early which was appreciated.
The room was nicely appointed and I like the partition between the bathroom and bedroom that could be opened or closed.
I purchased a deal on Jetsetter which made the room a little under $200 per night.
A great deal for a comfortable and stylish hotel. -

I don't usually rate hotels, but I liked this place so much I felt compelled to yelp it!
Service - everyone was super friendly, always saying hi, always smiling, we felt very welcomed
Room - Pretty! i heart boutique hotels and their unique style :) I love how theres a sliding mirror that opens up the sink area into the bedroom if you want it to. It was also clean, annnd, they left lindt chocolates by the bed. score!
Room service - we ordered room service really late one night, so there was only a limited menu. We got the hamburger, and it was sooo peppery, we still ate it cause we were starving, but it just wasn't good. After telling them about it, they took it off the bill, so that was rectified. We also got the mushroom soup which was just so-so, but I guess you cant be too picky at 4am. Just happy they did have 24 hour room service.
Bikes - the people at the front desk told us about free bikes they rent out to the hotel patrons. It was a cute eletra townie, they have a girl one and a boy one, and it was so much fun riding around in stanley park for hours. :) -
Review from Kelly C.
Great boutique, stylish hotel in a perfect location for downtown Vancouver. Close to the water on the north side of downtown, a stroll away from Stanley Park yet steps from the central business district. The rooms are tastefully appointed with modern bathrooms and nice seating areas. The floor to ceiling windows allow a lot of natural light (there are also blackout curtains for sleepyheads). Service at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The in-house restaurant was only so-so, but there are lots of places within walking distance.

Review from GARY F.
Finally - a nice hotel in Vancouver. Great location, perfect size, very modern and luxurious rooms. Free internet! Spa is smallish (fitting for a boutique hotel) and the massage therapist is on-call and in a nice room. Just a few annoying things - there's no printed room service menu, so you have to look on the TV menu options - but our remote was sticky - so... Also - the RS menu will say things like breakfast is available - but it isn't (we're sorry, we forgot to change that). Might be about 10% understaffed for a five star hotel, so this would be a really pretty, intimate four star hotel.
Great room layout with divider between tub and bed that slides for privacy. Sheets you can swim in. -
Review from CT N.
I only had one problem with this hotel, and it's something easy for them to fix so I want them to be aware of it.
Loden is walking distance to the cruise ship port so it's perfect for cruisers to walk off their cruise ship and walk to the hotel (if you don't have too much luggage to carry).
Of course, cruise ships arrive early in the morning, like 8am. Check-in is 3pm. Do you see where this is going?
When we got to the hotel, there were two people at the registration counter. One girl and an Asian guy (I never got his name). We tried to check in but she said there were no rooms ready.
"Okay," I said...we'll just check our bags with you if that's okay, and walk around the city for awhile. When do you think a room might be ready?"
Now...the answer to this question is the difference between a top-class, five-star hotel with well-trained staff who have made their guests their #1 priority and the 'Come-On-In Motel.'
She deferred to the Asian guy who simply replied, "3pm." (The check-in time). Way to fail the customer service test kid. Nice job.
So let me get this straight, every single room in the hotel will be completed at EXACTLY 3pm? No sooner, no later. Not 2:59, not 3:01? lol...
Is he telling me that EVERY SINGLE ROOM was booked from the night before? Quite unlikely, but possible.
So, for the staff and management at Loden, I offer up the following alternative responses to replace "3pm."
#1..."We're sorry sir, but we can not be sure when a room will be available. We can take your cellphone number and give you a call as soon as we find out."
#2..."We're sorry sir, we were completely booked last night so it will take some time before rooms become available. We can take your cellphone...."
Not the one I got. When he said, "3pm" this is what I heard...
"We're not sorry sir, we just don't like our jobs much and can't be bothered to expend any more effort than the absolute minimum required to stand behind this counter and fake a smile. As to your question, we'd like to refer to what we call the 'Handbook of Rigidity' and insult your intelligence by telling you what you already know..our check-in is 3pm. We don't need to pretend to like you until then. Thanks for staying with us."
Outside of that, great hotel. The guys at the front door made sure we had umbrellas when it looked like rain, offered to get the hotel car when they ran out of umbrellas, brought some bikes out for us to ride around on in Stanley Park...very friendly, very helpful. The room was excellent. The location is excellent.
Now...if they can just do better than "3pm." -

10 days, four cities, five hotels (Incl. The W Seattle, and a Hilton)....The Loden won by far. BEAUTIFUL Hotel.
Highly reccomend this place. I wish every city had a Loden. -
Review from Delilah B.
What a beautiful hotel. The location is in a so-so area. Most of the smaller restaurants around it are closed on the weekends, but it's not much to take a cab anywhere.
The rooms are so comfortable and they provide excellent service. -
Review from Sylvia Y.
The price of this hotel is amazing for what you get. They really pamper you - if you call downstairs for amenities like a razor, it gets to you within a few minutes. When you leave, they hold the doors open for you and ask you how the day has been. Had recently stayed at the Long Beach Renaissance hotel, which was pricier but not nearly as nice.
We stayed at a corner king room. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom (I'm into nice bathrooms) is beautiful. Best off were the windows covering two out of the four walls. They also provide a really nice steamer in the room, which was quick to heat and made it snappy to un-wrinkle our clothes.
One of the best hotels I've stayed at. -
Review from A E.
Amazing service staff + Beautiful hotel.
We walked in at about 10PM only to find out that the 3-night reservation that we have made turned into 2, due to overbooking on the first night of our stay. While we were less than impressed, they were completely apologetic, have taken care of the first night's accommodation at another nearby hotel and decided to charge us only for two-night stay. They even comped us for the cab ride over there and put us up in one of the nicer rooms in the higher floor, overlooking the entire downtown Vancouver.
The next morning, the hotel limo was already waiting for us and we finally checked into a super-nice room with our own private little zen garden. The hotel manager personally saw to it that we got taken care of, and the rest of our stay was an amazing experience.
The service staff did make a difference - each and every time we walk by (or hang around) the lobby area, there's always the same people who would chat with us about anything and everything (from the Canucks vs Sharks game that was happening that night and the merits of public education in Canada).
As for how nice the hotel room is - I'll let you see it for yourself - http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

Pulled into Vancouver on a Thursday afternoon. Had reservations at the Loden, had heard it was a boutique hotel. Upon checking in was pretty happy with the service and efficient desk man.
When we went up to the room again we were pleasantly surprised by the room size. The bathroom felt roomy and comfortable.
That evening we ventured upstairs for a few cocktails and the bartender turned us onto a great Italian restaurant.
At the end of our stay we knew we'd return to Vancouver and the Loden both great values. -
Review from Tiffany N.
I stay in a lot of hotels through all my traveling and I think my room at The Loden might be my favorite to date. It's modern and open with clean lines. There was an awesome wall made of floor-ceiling windows, which let the bright sunshine in and the windows even opened if you wanted some fresh air.
I had a cute little sitting area with an orange couch I want to have in my own house. The beds were amazingly comfy. The shower was separate from the giant Jacuzzi tub and it had one of those waterfall showerheads. The Loden is clearly a space that was designed by someone with talent.
The keys are funny - you simply wave these card things in front of readers in the elevators and on your door for access. And while I don't think I spent a lot of time in the direct vicinity of our hotel because Crystal was our tour guide there did seem to be quite a lot around since it's in the downtown area so I'm guessing it's a great place not only for business travel, but also if you happen to be lucky enough to be vacationing in beautiful Vancouver.Listed in: Tiffany C's adventures in…

I love this hotel! Throughout all my travels I have never stayed in such a nice hotel with a reasonable price compared to other hotels of the same ultra high end calibre and a staff that does not lack in attention to detail. If I ever go back to Vancouver I will definitely be staying here again. The staff at The Loden will go to great extents to accommodate your stay in every sense. They made reservations for us at a hard to get into steakhouse, gave us a ride and even gave us complimentary valet. Too bad they don't have a pool and their room availability is very limited so book in advance.

I usually don't sleep very well at hotels, but I slept like a baby here. This boutique hotel offered one of the loveliest and most peaceful experiences I've had in a long time.
The bed inside my modern decorated room was oh so comfortable and the bathroom was amazing! I may have been the cleanest person in Vancouver because I couldn't help, but take a few extra showers in their incredible shower.
Their large gym was full of new equipment and I had it pretty much to myself, except for just one other guest who complained guests didn't do a good job of wiping off the equipment after they used it. We may have different hotel gym standards back in the good old US, but it looked pretty clean to me!
They also have a nice bar and restaurant downstairs called Voya. I arrived absolutely famished (as always) and was very pleased with the cheese plate and nachos from the restaurant. I planned on going back for more nachos since they'd make a great late night snack, but I ran out of time. Fortunately, I have a feeling I'll be back soon!Listed in: Hotels Around the World, Yelping in Vancouver!

I came for business and they put me in a one bedroom suite and OMG- it was amazing. First of all, i didnt realize Canadians were so freaking nice. EVERYONE WAS NICE!!! And they would say 'ehh?" at the end of their sentence. So cute!! i just wanted to squeeze them.
I honestly really enjoyed it here. Pretty freaking awesome. -
Review from Linda L.
I've been writing reviews for Yelp for almost five years now. Over these years, I've become a little harsher with the ratings I give. Let me first explain my ratings:
5 - excellent, would come back again and again. In fact, I would drive here especially just to visit.
4 - excellent, but needs a few tweaks, however would visit again.
3 - good, but not great; could do with improvements. We'd most likely look elsewhere to see if there is a better option before returning.
2 - not too bad, but bad enough to not revisit.
1 - stay away, stay well away. In fact stay away from this place with about a 5 mile radius.
The Loden is a beautiful boutique hotel. I love the location and the feel of this place. The staff are friendly and helpful. Valet parking was always quick and easy. In fact, they even took the car out for us just to get a few things we'd left in the trunk. Shoe shining is complimentary, and so is the morning newspaper. The hotel is clean, and tastefully decorated. They even include a yoga mat in the room! The Loden give you a card which needs to be used to activate the elevators, the reason for this is to keep unwanted non-guests from roaming around in the hotel. Check out is 12 pm.
Onto the downsides of this hotel:
- Wifi costs $15/night or slightly cheaper if bought in a bundle. This is not an issue, as we see being online as an essential. What is an issue is that the wifi only works with one device.
- There was a curly short black hair in the bath tub.
- No laundry bags and no slippers, but the room did include two robes
- Complimentary carafe of water with one glass (for two guests?) on turn down service.
- TV (not that we used it) had a disgustingly sticky remote control (eurgh)
- Poorly stocked bar
- Bathrooms although pretty, are so unpractical. Washing your hands in the shallow sink results water being splashed all over the place. Brushing our teeth and washing our faces using this sink made an even nicer mess.
- Incredibly noisy, from other residents as well as from the street
- Beds are firm, yet pillows were ultra soft - not a great combination. This gave me severe back and neck ache.
- Inconsistency in complimentary morning tea/coffee in the lobby.
All in all, this is a pretty hotel, within walking distance of downtown. However, we would look around to see what other hotels are available in this price range before returning. -
Review from Denice R.
How lucky was I to have a friend give me her reservation at The Loden when she was unable to stay herself. The Loden is my new favorite Vancouver BC hotel, manicured hands down. Luxury + boutique amenities and attention - pretentious attitude = The Loden.
I adore the mid-century modern elegance, hip flair, and Molton Brown products. They're not spamming the planet with media hyperbole or laying on their horn for attention -- they're All That and they know it. Their attention arrives via word-of-mouth from uber happy guests like I am and like you will be if you stay here.
I won't be redundant. Just read all the previous reviews accurately describing the hotel, location, service, staff, restaurant, ambiance, rooms, etc. I was happy when I arrived, but when I walked into my room I became stupid happy. It was a delicious surprise, MUCH more stunning than the gallery photos illustrate. Perhaps they figured out the wisdom of under representing and over delivering.
I really want to give a virtual hug to everyone I encountered who is employed by the hotel. I had a historical question, and even one of the kind guests chirped in to help solve the mystery. As a real estate agent, I want to bow to the architects, interior designers, and builders because the thoughtfulness taken with this project really shows.
Here's to hoping management continues to offer great specials so that I (ok and others) can continue to feel the love here even during purse-tightening times.
I'll be back and look forward to having some drinks and dancing in the swank Penthouse unit during the Summer.Listed in: Hotels and other…

The Loden is as close to a 5-star boutique hotel as this weary but wise traveler has experienced, and I'd even go so far as to say that the place manages to epitomize the modern nature and vibrancy of the city of Vancouver itself.
Ok, is that hyperbole? Perhaps, but the details do support my case:
1. An extremely friendly staff, very accommodating without really trying to be.
2. Stylish rooms with stunning views (thanks, floor-to-ceiling windows!), and spacious showers that just calm you when you enter them.
3. The details, like Molton Brown bath products, Wii for your gaming pleasure, and Nespresso machine!
4. Witty books for in-room reading: "Secrets from the Vinyl Cafe" and "They Call Me Naughty Lola (Personal ads from the London Review of Books)" were on my shelf.
My only regret was not having a chance to eat at Voya, the hotel's adjoining restaurant, because there was a private party going on. Well, there is always next time...Listed in: Vancouver, You're Mine

The Loden is a super sexy boutique hotel with excellent service and beautifully decorated rooms. From the TV screen that welcomes you by name, the gorgeous rooms, silky sheets, and fantastic bar downstairs, the Loden is pretty much perfect (I could sort of do without the Molton Brown bath products though, too masculine and strong scented for my liking).
Aside from all the amenities the hotel provides, it is right in the heart of downtown, and about 2 blocks away from the US Consulate which was a fantastic coincidence for me since I had an appointment there the day after we checked in.
One of my favorite hotels by far- the Loden is fabulous.

Gorgeous hotel right near shopping, restaurants and bars. The rooms are well furnished, the beds are very comfortable and they have large flat screen TVs. The restaurant downstairs is AMAZING (try the nachos!)

After a late evening flight from Los Angeles, our first stop and place of refuge was the Loden, situated on the fringe of the upscale Coal Harbor neighborhood in downtown Vancouver. This 77 room hotel is a prime example of what every boutique hotel should be: modern, sleek, luxurious, and comfortable, with well-designed and thought out rooms. Not too big, not too small. Service was top-notch, courteous, and never stuffy. We loved everything and every minute spent here, and to boot, the rates during this time of the year were a steal.
More often than not boutique hotels are no more than lipstick on a pig: old rooms with a fresh coat of paint, funky artwork, and designer toiletries, and yes, the obligatory neon lit elevators gently pulsating with deep house or downtempo. Fortunately for us the Loden caters to a more business-oriented clientele, and coddles the guest with refined interiors; dark wood-veneered panels, black marble tile, fluffy down pillows and sumptuous high thread count linens, with attention to detail that leads you to think that each room isn't mass produced but a luxurious personal residence. I found myself inspecting and admiring all the details, and couldn't stop wondering how I could incorporate some of the ideas into my own bedroom.

One of my favorite hotels from around the world - if you are considering staying, you won't be disappointed!
When ever I am in Vancouver I book the king suite, which is an amazing place to stay for vacation or business. The Loden is located in a great area with nightlife/restaurants/bars within walking distance. Even if a venue is nearby just ask to use the car service. Service is amazing from the valet to the concierge. -
Review from Liv L.
Great location, QUIET hotel (srsly, no noise at all), fab windows, beautiful bathroom, valet & front desk staff are great.
Upon checkin - we go to our room and...there is no shampoo/soap/conditioner - only 2 shower caps and a nail file scattered on the counter. I think the maid did not complete our room cleaning...
We open a closet to hang a jacket...hey, what is that in there? A dirty sock left by a previous guest...gross.
The second day: we return to our room at the end of the day to find the maid's wash rag in the bathroom sink. Did they simply forget it? Weird.
Uncomfortable bed, like sleeping on a plank of wood. The tub, while quite lovely to look at, is ideal for bathing a child - no adult can lay down in there (unless you have 26" long legs). -
Review from Minnie K.
I love boutique hotels, Loden is no exception. Beautiful rooms, floor to ceiling windows. We received special touches, such as turn down service featuring carafes of water, lindt chocolates. It's located a comfortable walkikng distance from Robsen & about 2 blocks away from Coal Harbor marina. There's a Starbucks at the end of the block and a 7-11 a short walk away. We hitched a ride in their little Loden cabbie one night to a restaurant which was kind of fun.
I thought their bedding could use a bit of attention, my pillows were squishy and the feather bed gave me some allergy trouble with only had 1 thin sheet to protect me from feathers beneath.
Aside from this, our picky tastes were satisfied and I would definitely come back again! -

Vancouver, BC
I would not stay at the Loden again. Beautiful hotel and great location, but certainly not worth the high fares.
Prior to arrival, was asked specifically if there was a special occasion involved in our stay. I told them there was, a birthday. Never saw any sign of well wishes, a little special something in the room, nothing. Don't know why they even bothered asking.
The front desk staff were very friendly and well-meaning, but far from being professional and efficient in the sense you would expect from a hotel of this standing. They all seemed frankly a bit young and wet behind the ears. That doesn't take away from the fact that they were warm and welcoming, down to the young man who I believe was the concierge and who assisted us with bicycles*. However, I do believe that the staff should have been a bit more on the ball, proficient, and well, "adult".
Beds were quite comfortable, but pillows were far too soft. No coffee maker in the room. I called to request a coffee maker and it had to be specially brought up. There was no charge for this, but I find it odd and inconvenient to have to call for a coffee maker. Coffee and sugar were provided, but no milk or cream.
Also, in my opinion, the coffee/tea service in the lobby should last longer than until 9:30 (!). This is a very small and easy detail for a hotel to take care of, but trust me, it makes a big difference to the guest to be greeted by a hot cup of fresh coffee or tea when making one's way in or out of the hotel in the morning.
Air conditioning unit was loud and disrupted sleep. The last night of my stay I called the front desk and they promised to send someone up to check it later. When I later checked out, there was no apology or even mention made of it. I see there are comments here on Yelp about the A/C dating back to quite a while ago. I find that rather sub-par - it doesn't look at all as if any effort has been made to fix or upgrade an apparently problematic A/C system.
Room was quite small and cramped for the price you pay. Although the shower was quite nice, the bathroom in general was extremely unhandy - particularly the sink, but also the tub which was too small to be comfortable. The bathrobes looked old and raggedy. So much so that I did not use them.
I may be alone in feeling this way, but I believe that when you pay top prices at a luxury hotel, wifi should be included. If I recall, the fare at the Loden was about $15 per day.
The views from the room were non-existent. You see right into the apartments of the building next door.
All in all, I would not choose the Loden again on a trip to Vancouver. As a matter of fact, during this same trip, I stayed for one night at the Marriott Harbourside and found it much better for less money. And it had incredible views. In retrospect, I should have booked my entire stay in Vancouver at the Marriott.
*Regarding the bicycles, we were very appreciative of the fact that the hotel offered free bicycles (with helmets) to rent for up to 3 hours at a time, and furthermore, that they allowed us to take them out for another go the same day as no one else had signed up for them. -
Review from Emma G.
This hotel is definitely a hidden gem. I'd never heard of it until I stumbled across a deal for it one day, and boy am I glad I did.
When my friends and I went to the front desk, the reception was slightly icy (we were all in street clothes, and didn't look very...professional, I guess, or like we fit in), but once we informed them we were checking in, they were all smiles.
Our room was STUNNING. Absolutely gorgeous. The bathroom was my favourite part, with it's sliding doors, but they really pay attention to detail. There were lots of little things, like the chaise lounge or the yoga mats, that help make it an experience.
The staff were extremely helpful every time we needed them, and (I guess because it was quite empty in the hotel, or they just have super memories) they greeted me by name every time I came or left the hotel.
Honestly, if you can, stay here! It's beautiful, not nearly as busy as somewhere like the Fairmont or Pan Pacific, and the service is stellar.Listed in: Vancouver Five Stars

Review from Joshua C.
I wanted a really nice hotel for my trip to Vancouver, but not some 30 story building with thousands of guests. The Loden is a boutique hotel off the main tourist areas of Vancouver and it's quiet here. I never heard any noise from other guests. The rooms are comfortable and well designed. The bathrooms were beautiful.
We were lucky to get upgraded to their Luna Suite for the last two nights of our stay. The Luna Suite had a separate bedroom, living room and even a dining room! The bedroom in the suite had floor to ceiling walls with great views of the water and mountains.
The service here was the best I've experienced. Having worked as a front desk agent in two hotels, I'm ashamed because I was never close to the level of service at The Loden. They really make you feel at home here. I'm not the type of guest that has to ask for too much, but if I were, they'd be happy to help.
I'd definitely return here if my wallet permits. It's not cheap, but not too expensive either. You will get what you pay for here, that's for sure.
Close enough to Robson Street and the Burrard SkyTrain, but far enough that it's nice and quiet. Starbucks, Waves, Shoppers, Urban Fare and a 7-11 all within a couple blocks, which is very convenient. -
Review from Vicky L.
OMG... We came here for a quick Pac Northwest getaway in anticipation for my birthday. I found this great deal on Travelzoo and it was an awesome first time-staying-in-a-boutique-hotel experience. We pulled up and they only had valet parking (ouch!) But being that it's smack in downtown Vancouver that was pretty much the norm. My only complaint is that the check in lady that I dealt with, Renata, needed to take a class in customer service etiquette. During all the encounters I had with her, she was picking up phone calls left and right. I understand if she needed to take the calls, but a "can you please hold?" would suffice. My checking in process was lengthened to 15 minutes because she felt the need to service phone calls... including one from a lady sitting in the lobby 5 feet behind me. Ridiculous!
The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful. The textures and colors were extremely modern. I loved LOVED the privacy/room service buttons in the rooms. They had these little buttons that would deactivate the door bell (yes doorbell... they had lovely chime-y doorbells) or change the color of the buttons so that room service would know when you wanted your room cleaned. We got a corner room which gave us two full sides of the room in floor to ceiling windows. (There was a large splat of bird poop on one of the sides... could use a good window washing). Large beautiful LCD tv mounted on the corner. I have to say... this hotel was the epitome of modern technology. They had a cool switch thing in the bathroom which would pipe the tv system sound into the bathroom so you could keep up with the tv. For some of the rooms, the wall next to the bathtub opened up so you could lay in a bubble bath and continue your tv watching. The service here was amazing... I couldn't find the ice machine and called... and found out that they didn't have ice machines. They found them too noisy to the guests and the concierge would send ice up to your room. They had adorable fuzzy slippers and amazing robes... a great car service that took us around and they even have bikes for the guests to use!!
Late check out was a wonderful 3PM and I enjoyed my 2 baths with their bathing salts. Definitely a must stay place in the future... I think I've found my soul mate in hotels... -
Review from Mario G.
Holy crap. I stayed here without knowing too much about Vancouver or what the Loden was like, but I sure lucked out on this one.
My flight came in at around 5am. Took a cab (around $35) from the airport to the hotel. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to be able to check in, but I wanted to leave my bags at the very least. When the cab pulled up, I could immediately tell that this hotel was going to be nice. It's nothing terribly impressive at the front of the hotel, but it's decorated well. It's a boutique-like hotel. The staff here, though, is uber-friendly. The doorman was nice, but the lady at the front desk was nicer. They have some incentive program with their employees, so they really go out of their way to make sure your stay is going well.
To my surprise upon arriving at 6am, they let me check into my room! The room was pretty amazing. I think I paid somewhere between $125-150/night, but it's a beautiful room. Two of my walls were floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the streets of Vancouver. The room had a pretty bomb flat-screen television and the room was hooked up to a stereo system that ported into the bathroom. The bathroom had a great tub, separate shower, with great fixtures, lighting, etc., A very nice room.
Oh, and the gym was pretty cool. Sorta small, but it had a couple of treadmills and weight machines that were relatively new.
Love this hotel and would come back if I return to Vancouver again. -

I love putting my parents up in this hotel when they come to visit. The decor is very modern and sophisticated and my parents like the fact that it is close to Robson, Stanley Park, and the Coal Harbour area. It's not also smack dab in an area where drunken people walk the streets at night!

while i use yelp frequently, i've never actually written a review. however, after just returning from the loden, i feel compelled to!
i've had a love affair from afar with vancouver for quite a while, and so my boyfriend took me on a trip to the magical city for my birthday. as everyone has said before me, this is a gorgeous hotel with attention to every detail, without even a hint of pretension.
the rooms are spacious (particularly with floor to ceiling views and lovely views right outside), the bed was dreamy, and the bathroom is stunning. plentiful mirrors, a delicious shower as well as a deep soaking tub, and a separate toilet. there is a sliding door between the room and the bathroom, which when open, you can see the rest of the room, and if closed offers more privacy (or shields precious boyfriend's sleepy morning eyes while i get ready)-- thoughtful detail. also, free wifi in your room-- just make sure to ask for the code from the front desk.
the location is a convenient jumping off point to explore the city with lots of transportation options close by, and it's near any big shopping you might like to do. i'd highly recommend the loden to anyone looking for a chic yet down to earth vibe, with warm staff and gracious rooms.
looking forward to returning :) -

After staying elsewhere in Vancouver recently, I realized I underrated this place. The Loden is easily the best small hotel in Vancouver. Well informed, helpful staff, nice rooms, great fitness space. If you want a cool, smaller, luxury hotel, stay here!

"As good as it gets" five stars. This hotel absolutely blew me away. My fiance and I were in Vancouver for business and made a long weekend out of it to explore the city and the Loden made our trip one of the most enjoyable we have ever had. The atmosphere is incredible, the restaurant and bar were delightful (wonderful bartender named Steven - may be the best bartender in North America), and the staff was extremely attentive. It is centrally located about 2 blocks from the main shopping drag, Robson as well as a few blocks from the boardwalk leading to Stanley park. The room decor was fun and contemporary with all of the amenities that you could ask for. I will certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Vancouver for business or pleasure and will not stay anywhere else the next time I visit.

This is one of the best times I've had in a hotel. It's very W-ish, really friendly and not at all overpriced. Very chic place but zero attitude and they make an extra effort to make sure you have a great stay.
Definitely enjoy a drink at Voya, the bar/restaurant that is part of the hotel. The bartender Simon there has converted me from years of drinking vodka gimlets to a more flavorful and robust gin gimlet.. -

Beautifully decorated - modern but very luxurious feeling, perfect for our 3-day stay in Vancouver over valentines weekend. Our room was on the corner on an upper floor where we had great urban views of the surrounding residential towers - very fun to just sit in bed and watch what's going on. The bathroom was especially gorgeous - large scale chocolaty brown marble tile, double translucent glass doors concealing the toilet and shower, elegant walnut and brass casework, and a very refined soaking tub with 1x2 white marble mosaics. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and service was prompt, although there was often a line at the front desk. The location is fairly quiet, but within walking distance to hipper nightlife and shopping areas.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Loden hotel. What a great boutique hotel in Vancouver right near the water. The staff was great and very attentive to our needs. The rooms we're wide open, well designed and decorated and the bathroom had a great soaker tub for two. The only issue we ran into was late car service to get us to to our restaurant reservations - they hustled fast and got us there a bit late. When we got back the desk manager greeted us with an apology and bought us a drink in the Voya bar. Its this type of attention that will bring us back!

i would recommend this to out-of-towners looking for a boutique hotel in vancouver. it's my hometown, so obviously i didn't stay here but came for a drink when acquaintances were in town. the rooms are so cute! it's in a quieter neighbourhood in downtown near my old hood. a bit on the pricey side, but that's the norm for boutique hotels. should definitely check out if this is your cup of tea!
