Review from Peg C.
We're vacationing right outside Qualicum Beach and made a day trip up to Courtenay. Found a few places on Yelp we wanted to try and decided to try Locals. So glad we did. I've had a few salads from some of the restaurants around Qualicum Beach and the last one I had tasted like it was phoned in - looked like salad from a bag with cold, bland, watery chicken. I paid $14 for that salad. At Locals I ordered Christine's Quackery Duck salad, it was like a work of art. It was beautiful. Curly ribbons of beets, parsnip and carrots mixed with mesclun greens, alfalfa sprouts, grape halves and roasted cashews dotted with a creamy purple dressing. I don't even like goat cheese but I finished every crumble of creamy goat cheese. Loved it. Wished we were staying closer to Courtenay so we could frequent Locals more often.
My husband polished off the shrimp and crab sandwich with a side of potato salad, wishing it was just a little bigger.
Love that the use local sources for their food. -

I don't say this often, but I'd say this was a flawless meal. The Dine Around menu was on when we went, and both decided to go with that. All the dishes ordered were delicious. We also had a half liter of a local pinot noir that was quite nice. Nice space. Enjoyed the pics of the farmers/fishermen they buy from decorating the walls. Great service, and reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Highly recommended.

A rare peak experience.
We are 15 year full-time RVers, have been to thousands of RV Parks and restaurants in North America. We were touring Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. An ad in a tourist brochure caught our attention - local food from local producers. "Chef Ronald St.Pierrs's passion lies in providing a memorable dining experience that marries the bounty of the Island with culinary artistry in a unique dining setting with outstanding service."
We went there for dinner and returned for lunch the next day. Menu, food, presentation, ambience, and service all excellent. Moderate prices; dinner entrees in range of $25 to $30 dollars, most expensive dinner meal is three course meal for $39.
This is the best restaurant we have ever been to.
If you are wondering if we have a financial or personal interest in the restaurant or owner, the answer is NO! We just like to share good things. Enjoy!
