Review from Nicole F.
A vegetarian pub? WHAT? I love Winnipeg.
Some pals and I came here (some of us just for the poutine) last night and I could not believe the menu. Everything looked so tasty. I had a hard time deciding but ended up with the French Onion Soup and the Chickpea Fritters. The soup was great but needed a little salt. The fritters were weirdly good and came with caramelized onions, fig jam, and slices of brie. I tried my friend's poutine as well and honestly, I kind of wish I ordered that instead of the fritters. SO GOOD. I love a delicious vegetarian gravy.
The prices were surprising too. Only $5 something for a huge dinner-sized plate of poutine with piles of giant delicious cheese curds. Mmmm.. and nothing I ordered was over $7 I don't think.
Most of the menu can be made Vegan. I'm guessing anything with cheese because I know they carry Daiya. Awesome. -

Back again for a late lunch the server was great the the soup of the day was spiced just right, and veggieburger is perhaps the best one I can remember. You bet we will be back one day soon.

Review from DineoutGal A.

It always amazes me how good vegetarian food can be if it's made properly. And you're talking to someone who loves her burgers and steaks. But I also like to eat healthy for the majority of the week so I dropped by here for lunch. Very quiet for a weekday so food service was quick! It's located on the main floor of a hostel so that was a little off putting to me...but once I got past my disdain for hostels, I found a cute little vegetarian restaurant in a bright space.
The food is all vegetarian here with some vegan offerings too. Lots of great options available, I opted for the mushroom nut burger ($9.99) with a side salad. Their veggie burger is well known and raved about so I wanted to see what the hype was. It was a good burger though a little nutty...yes I know, it's in the name but I found that the almonds are embedded into the patty as very big chunks. Texture wise, I prefer something more subtle. The veggie burger while good, was not the best I've had as I think it was missing something to give this burger some more flavour. It's a very filling burger as I only ate half and I was full. I chose the lo salad, which has mixed greens, roasted chick peas, cucumber, tomato, red onions, green peppers, artichoke hearts and a roasted garlic and lemon tahini dressing. I would definitely return for this salad - great flavours!
Service was good, I just wish more people would dine here.
Park in the hostel's meter parking or on the side streets off of Ellice.
