THIS IS THEEEE PLACE TO BE!! I am there at least twice a week! The food comes from the "Detroitier Bar" next door so its granteed deeeeelious-ness! Their is an awesome bartender there by the name of "Arron" he makes the best "Ciroc limeade" Made with Ciroc, cherries, limes, and grendine!!! OMG!!! Its amazing! They have something going on there EVERY NIGHT!!! My fav is the open mic night on Tuesday. Its so cool to see all of DETROITS talents on stage. The best part is that the cover is FREE! Check them out! The magaement is great. Always making sure that everyone and everything is good and great! Meet me there.

I'm really diggin' this place -- Who would argue about FREE COVER?!
They host all types of events; waitress/bartender always gives me a good laugh -- maybe it's because I'm a people watcher.
Don't underestimate this low-keyed spot -- I highly recommend Tuesday nights for poetry slam and other Detroit talents.
Also on Tuesday night -- they sell "Fish tacos". It was my first time but it wasn't bad; a little greasy but good. (Only $2) -
Review from Carole H.
Second time at Liv, and as I hoped, I can make a positive update. Last night was their weekly Tuesday night open mic night, featuring a poetry slam competition. The vocal night I went to here before seemed to be more of a speciality event - the crowd, performers, and overall vibe were totally different this time, in a good way.
DJ Equad, who I know and love from hearing him spin regularly at Northern Lights Lounge, kept a fabulous selection going strong before, and in between acts. The host, Whitney, has stellar poet chops herself and keeps the show moving with entertaining banter and a few performances of her own. And the whole evening was a reminder of the incredible talents that we have sitting right here in our backyard.
The open mic welcomes acts of all sorts. Through poets, rappers, singers, and even a praise dance piece (in a bar!) the crowd was nothing but supportive and amazing - I don't know how many of these folks are regulars or maybe even know the performers, but either way, you could just feel the love in the room. It is well run and they keep the show moving along.
I WANT so badly to give 5 stars after the great time I had last night, but I just can't. In place of the fifth star I will offer the simple wish that they either need to get a second waitress on, or just have the one who was working the tables improve her multitasking. She was cute, friendly, and I'm sure a fabulous person. But service was slooooow! Even when we first arrived and the tables were half full at best, it took a solid 15 minutes before our table was approached. As a former cocktail waitress myself, I know it gets hectic - but the method of taking ONE drink order at a time then running it to the bar is only making customers wait, and her do more walking. Not good.
Still, I had a ball last night. As a musician and creative type myself, it always does my heart good to see others sharing their work, their creativity, their passion. Humbled by the talent that flooded that room, all in a small unassuming bar on a plain old Tuesday night.
I will likely keep Liv's open mic night in mind anytime I find myself with a free Tuesday night. Shoot, it was so good I might just put it on the schedule and make sure I keep my Tuesday nights free for it.Listed in: Meet me at the bar.
