I like this restaurant a lot. For one thing, the staff here are always really friendly, and we often end up chatting with them as if we'd known them for years. The restaurant also has some nice little seating areas, including my favourite round banquette in a corner at the back.
But mostly, this place has really good food. Their mussels and scallops are fresh and perfectly cooked. The lobster crusted haddock - delish. I've had a few specials here, too, which always delivered on their promise of fresh and flavourful.
Apparently, there's also a guitar player performing in the restaurant some evenings, although I always seem to miss those nights. Perhaps the playful servers have been pulling my leg? -

Sigh. I wasn't thrilled. This was my one splurge on a nice dinner while in nova scotia and the experience was disappointing.
I ordered the traditional lobster dinner and the food was quite good. When paying $38 a plate, though, good food isn't enough. I need good service to go with it or I feel let down.
My server was... Forgetful (forgot my drink and I watched her forget the coffee order at another table). Not knowledgeable about the food and drink menus. When I asked a question about the wine list she said: "to be honest I don't really know anything about wine so......" and then stood waited for me to... accept the total lack of guidance and point randomly at the wine list? I don't care if you don't know. Either make something up and sell it to me well enough that I think you know, or go ask someone who does know.
I could probably have forgiven both of those things though if she made any attempt to interact with me outside of saying 'ready to order?' If I'm eating eggs and bacon for 3.99, that's acceptable. Nowhere else.
I wouldn't go back. Three stars because the food was good and I liked the patio, but I'm sure I could find equally good food elsewhere. I might also find good service. -

Within Argyle Street's 5 Fisherman resto is the lovely Little Fish. Demure, and a pleasant acquaintance, my first time in was enjoyable. Sea-World for your stomach, I was enticed by the full scale menu and the hunch of a well prepared sea food fiesta.
The restaurant mimics the high class of its counterpart, with smooth and assured service. Comfortable interiors were quaint and without pretentious perspectives... "lovely" might be the appropriate way to describe the overall experience.
I had the haddock and it was one of the best I've had out in Halifax. An evening of good food, great accompanied wine (suggested by our server) and a non-rushed mentality, I'd recommend popping in for a bite with atmospheric delights. -

Everything we had at this place was amazing. Best restaurant we went to in Halifax. Fair prices, fast service. Haddock was excellent. The special of the day always tasted good.
