Where do you go when you haven't planned ahead and really don't want to do Milestone's for a staff lunch... again...
You get a table at Little Billy's in North Burnaby!! We got a primo table for four in a quiet corner by the window. They have decked their halls and it is comfortable, friendly and so nice for a Christmas lunch.
We ordered Greek dishes... chicken kebab was moist (Score 1) the tomatoes in the greek salad tasted bland like they had been refrigerated (take away 1) the pita was piping hot and done perfectly (score 1 back)
And Inga's tzaziki meter was - okey dokey (not Meh or wunderbar)
Service was great considering the place was PACKED with lunchers and we had a very pleasant meal.
We got our coffee though, and it was tepid to luke. Sent it back with the horrified server. She was so sorry, immediately replaced all the coffees and then tracked down every other cup she had served to other tables to check. (Score huge)
Highly recommend and it isn't as noisy as some of the bigger places and isn't "Hart House" formal. Good mix. Next time I am trying the steak. -

First impressions: It's a quiet and quaint restaurant with several framed black and white photos on the walls. It gave off a romantic vibe as the seats were dark (faux leather?) and a candle at each table. However, the dress code is casual to whatever-you-want-to-wear. Struck me as odd to see a setting as such with diners in baseball caps and torn jeans.
The menu offered a variety of steaks including fish. I took up my friend's recommendation of the Ahi Tuna ("grilled medium rare tuna fillet with a sweet balsamic reduction").
Upon receiving my meal, we were first served our salads with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was difficult to eat. They added too much dressing to the point where the vinaigrette overwhelmed my tongue. My friend informed me that they offered other dressings, but we were never asked by our server.
My steak was presented on an elongated dish. My mashed potatoes had been in a bowl, pre-heated and then dumped onto my plate. It was evident because the shape of the bowl remained intact - quite unappetizing. The seasonal vegetables were nothing special: cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and pepper drizzled in olive oil and baked. My tuna steak, although perfectly cooked and tender, was served on more salad.
Overall I wasn't impressed by Little Billy's. I still don't understand what clientele they are trying to attract. To sum it up, you've a restaurant with a romantic setting with no dress code and food that lacks quality and originality. Perhaps that's why the restaurant remained empty for much of the evening? -

I had never eaten at the previous Little Billy restaurant before it mysteriously burnt down, so was pleased when it reopened at a nearby location.
The new furnishings were quite comfortable. The service was good, although the restaurant was near empty.
I was disappointed when my meal did not come as ordered. However, more concerning, my friend's chicken was RAW in the middle, a clear health risk.
I wrote a sincere letter to the restaurant voicing my concerns, but they were neither polite nor professional enough to reply.
The kitchen back door of the previous restaurant was always dirty and scattered with restaurant litter, when I frequently walked by, so perhaps I should have taken this as a red flag. -

Wanting to try something close to home, we hit up Little Billy's one day after work. I mean, it looks like a really classy joint, the kind that local legends are made of. Unfortunately this was one of those experiences that makes one wonder why it had to be so bad.
The food was pretty good--a cross between a higher end steakhouse and a greek restaurant. It was a quiet weekday, and the place was empty except for two other groups, and us, the lonely couple sitting by the window. We got seated pretty fast, but the service ended there.
We still cannot figure out for the life of us why we got treated so badly. We came straight from the office so we were presentable, and we are a typical young professional couple. We finally got our menus, but it took great effort to flag the waitress down to get our order. We waited on the longer side to get our order, but after that the service when even more downhill. No one came by to check on us EVER, and then we tried in vain to get the bill. It took about an HOUR. I kid you not. I finally had to walk up to the bar, and beg them for the bill. I then made the mistake of hoping someone would charge my credit card, and I had to walk up to the bar once again. 3 hours of my life I will never get back. NEVER again. -

Recommended by a co worker. This place was a great choice for affordable Greek food for lunch. It is a little odd there were only two tables filled during the lunch time though? I thought for $9, the chicken souvlaki was great. The chicken was moist and the salad was fresh. I was mostly talking the whole time so did't really get to enjoy the food all that much but think this is a great place to dine close to SFU.

We didn't know it when decided to give Little Billy's Steakhouse a try, but it has been satisfying the appetites of Burnaby residents since 1975. Formerly Little Billy's Hideaway, the restaurant burned to the ground in 2007. It is the new location and new name that caught my eye and made me decide to give the place a try.
Located at the end of East Hastings, just before it becomes the Barnett Hwy., Little Billy's storefront is striking in comparison to its neighbours with its modern, clean lines. We arrived early for dinner because we were headed to the BC Lions game. We wanted good food and quick friendly service that didn't break the bank. We weren't disappointed.
I had an 8oz. New York steak with shoestring fries and green salad. The steak was a perfectly seasoned medium rare - it was tender, juicy and delicious. Our waitress recommended the fries over a baked potato, and although not usually a fry fan, I was not disappointed. They were golden and crisp with exactly the right amount of salt. The mixed greens were fresh and crisp, although the balsamic vinaigrette could have used a little more olive oil to cut the tanginess.
My husband had chicken souvlaki and he too was very pleased with the healthy portion of skewered grilled chicken he was presented with. Again the seasoning was perfect and the chicken was tender and juicy.
The atmosphere is pretty cool too. Lots of black leather, wood and stone - west coast modern meets 1970's retro.
My only complaint would be that the staff might have been a little too laid back. There were only two other tables occupied so the room was pretty quiet, but the staff neglected to turn off the tv's above the bar and the blaring sports commentators really had a negative impact on the atmosphere.
All in all it was a pretty pleasant experience. We were out the door in plenty of time to get the to game on time, and dinner for two came in at $50 including tip. If you are in the mood for a juicy steak, then Little Billy's is worth trying. -

We've decided to give Little Billy's Steak House a try after reading other reviews online.
The place is a small restaurant. They have staff there, but really busy at the time (Friday dinner rush I guess). There's a bar there, so quite a few people were sitting in front of the bar watching sports on their TV. There were I believe 2 or 3 TVs there.
We ordered steak and chicken. They are large portions and not too bad in taste.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere as it was a small yet modern looking restaurant.
