The only place I buy fish.
Really, really great service. I love a place that recognizes their customers and maybe throws in a few extra scallops as a thank you :)
Keep it fresh, keep supporting local businesses.

I go to SDSU and someone mentioned this place to me. Went to check it out one day. This place is awesome, Ordered the meat lovers sandwich, this was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten, the meat had the best smokey flavor.

I also got some fish and some hummis, Fish was fresh and flavor hummis was delicious.

Definitely recommend this place for everyone, wide varitey of fresh and organic foods.

Besides the parking availability. THIS PLACE IS A SOLID 6/5

The prices are not bad, for sandwiches get the Aztec and the Montezuma, You will not go wrong.

    1 Dollar for delicious macarons?
    3 Dollar for large macarons?

4 large macarons for 11 bucks? How can you not get them?

Check my pictures this place is REALLY GOOD

The sandwiches ranges from 6-9 bucks and its worth EVERY dollar, not to pricy, and not too cheap but i mean ingredients are fresh.

So I was skeptical about the large macarons, which I should be, large ones? won't they pop? yes they do pop, but they're still delicious!

I use the yelp deal, the owner thought it was kind of weird, made me feel uncomfortable but with these prices and freshness who cares!

This place is awesome, if the drive wasn't 40 minutes I'd go every week!

You see the 5 stars this place has? It deserves it!

Taken from the website and they MEAN EVERY WORD OF IT

"We're bringing you fresh, local, sustainable, organic and all-natural food. And we're excited to share how delicious and affordable it is!
    Thanks for stopping by!"

I love coming here! Always always a pleasant experience. The service is impeccable. The staff is extremely knowledgable and truly strive to make sure their customers are happy and satisfied. Everything is oh so fresh and healthy. Organic produce, deli style meats, fresh seafood as well as delicious homemade hummus, pestos and pastas. Their menu is off the hook! Their plates, sandwiches and sides are all finely crafted. Such an explosion of flavor with every bite. Parking is a bit tough but that definitely does not keep me from frequenting this place.

I had heard they were going to be at the Rancho San Diego farmers' market, but missed going there. Turns out, they will be there next weekend. I'm glad I went to their place, because it was totally worth it.

My son started drooling when he saw the case of desserts; we ended up getting four, including a large pistachio macaroon. Each one was absolutely perfect, not to mention they looks like works of art.

We ordered two sandwiches, and although I didn't try my son's, the Boulevard, I did love mine, which was the B.L.T.T. (bacon, lettuce, tomato and turkey). It has a spread on it that's a bit spicy, and really gave it extra flavor; the bacon was crisp, and the lettuce added a crunch. I'm not overly fond of tomatoes in sandwiches, but I like them in BLTs; on this, it totally worked.

Only con: parking, but in the end, it is, as everyone else is saying, definitely worth it. I cannot wait to go back.

This is the best local market in San Diego. Yes, it's a fish market, but you could probably do all of your shopping there and be as happy as pie everyday when you go into your kitchen.
I am not kidding you when I say, this place (especially Kosta, the owner), knows about some serious customer service. Here's why:

    1) I went in looking for deviened and shelled shrimp, Kosta immediately taught me why I should not buy shrimp that is deviened and shelled.
    2) Kosta then brought me behind the counter, gave me gloves, and taught me HOW to devien and shell the shrimp in a flash myself.
    3) Kosta told me how to make my dish even better than I was planning and threw in some Tomato Basil Pesto that ended up being the secret ingredient.
    4) When I went back in today, Kosta asked me how my shrimp dish was.

I love this place. I am hard to please when it comes to food and service.

I will not buy fish anywhere else and when I want a delicious sandwich, cheese, pesto, homemade pasta, one-of-a-kind desserts, farm fresh eggs, and a great feeling in my heart,  I go to Lisko's.

Thanks for keeping San Diego classy, healthy, and happy, Lisko's.

This was such a great find!  We stopped in after the farmer's market got rained out down the street.

It has the perfect layout.  You can sample their hummus, pick up some cheese and a French baguette, order a couple sandwiches and sides from the deli, and top it off with a French macaron and a latte - all within reach from your table.  Trust me, we did just that. Nothing left but empty plates and big smiles on our faces!

I enjoyed every bit of my experience here, and the best part, the owner and staff were absolutely amazing.  Best hospitality in town, and I truly admire their class and mission to bring fresh and organic food to San Diego.

Went here for an early dinner the other day. We have seen them at a few farmers markets, and their stuff is always really good. The store is like a little farmers market, with tons of veggies, meats, fish, pasta, olives, cheese, eggs, etc. They also have REALLY good dessert.

I had a sandwich off the menu, we got a grilled cheese for my son, and my wife wanted pasta so the nice Australian guy (whose name is escaping me) cooked her up some fresh pasta off menu. It is really cool to go into a place and have the make you whatever you want. The pasta was excellent! The sandwich was really good and the grilled cheese was really good too, though the bread they use is really good and thick sliced, so it is not great for little mouths. It was okay because my son liked the pasta and the adults liked the grilled cheese, so everyone was happy.

Great place for lunch! (they close at 7) go check it out.

This little gem is tucked away on the corner of El Cajon Blvd and Rolando and may be easy-to-miss. Though I frequently commute down El Cajon by bicycle, I only noticed Lisko when I was walking to Zumwalt's to pick up my bike from repairs.

Once inside, I was greeted by a friendly and attentive staff and I was delighted to find that, aside from sandwiches, clam chowder,  a long list of fresh fish for the grill, and an admirable list of sides (including a delicious mixed greens salad and some tasty but maybe too-salty-for-my-taste sweet potato fries), they also have grocery items--fresh pastas; local seasonal produce; hummus, pesto, and other sauces that are made fresh; breads; imported cheeses; free-range eggs--you name it! They also have a dessert and coffee counter that I have yet to check-out.

To date, I've visited them twice and have only ordered grilled New Zealand salmon, sweet potato fries, and the mixed greens salad. I've also sampled some of their clam chowder, which is amazing and loaded with clams! I have also brought home some of their white shrimp, which was super fresh and delicious in the dish I cooked up that night. Tonight, I will be trying some of the fresh chickpea flour pasta I bought from them. I also brought home more white shrimp and some sashimi grade NZ salmon and I'm looking forward to it. It's nice to have a venue that offers seafood that is so fresh!

I've also heard the owner help out customers in terms of how to prepare the items they've purchased. So if you need ideas for recipes for tonight's dinner, this just might be your one-stop place for ingredients and a tasty recipe!

To cyclists: There isn't really anywhere super convenient to lock-up, but ask the owner if you can bring your bike into their outdoor dining area (he told me this was fine, but be courteous and ask first!)

To motorists complaining about lack of parking and having to park a block away and subsequently having to walk that distance: A little exercise won't hurt ya! ;)

Cool little place RIGHT next to the SDSU campus.

I only bought a tub of the garlic hummus to try, but by the looks of the place (and the deliciousness of the hummus), I will definitely be back to try everything else they have in the store and hopefully add that last star to my review!

When people talk about wanting to support local businesses and shops, THIS is what they are talking about. Lisko is a very small shop with fresh produce, freshly made pastas, sauces, soups, hummus, and pastries. They also have deli meats, cheese, packaged sausage and FRESH sausage they make in house. They also have prepared food like sandwiches. Last but not least, they have a selection of fresh fish and seafood.

The people who work there are laid back and super cool. The owner gave me a free cherimoya because he saw that I was excited to see them (and it was really ripe).

You'd think their prices might be really high because they are a small specialty store, but they really aren't bad at all.

    This place rocks.

This place is really good!  Located at the old Woodstock Pizza building in the College area (among many other places that seem to go up and close because they are half ass), this place i can see breaking the trend of short life expectancy.  Cute little specialty items such as rare and known cheeses, home made pastas, hummus' and salads that look amazing.  I went for the deli.  They have an awesome selection of FRESH fish and some made to order deli sandwiches.  I went for the Montezuma, a turkey and avocado with all the fix-ins, and they even put this home made creamy horse radish spread that is original and delicious.  The bread they used had to be home made.  It was warm and tasted like fluffy goodness with a crispy outside.  The Potato salad is the bomb too!
I was hesitant on this place just because its in a building that every place that's been at this location has BLOWN!!  But don't be discouraged, its freaking awesome!
    bottom line:
    sandwich with potato salad- $5.25
    soda $1.00

$6.25 out the door and full and happy

    2/5/2012 Purchased a Yelp Deal

Bought a Yelp deal so we decided to try it out for a quick lunch.

Location was not where I expected.  It was in a weird part of San Diego; by a lot of auto shops.  For some odd reason I was expecting it to be in North Park.  I was wrong.  It was in between East SD and La Mesa.  Parking sucks.  There's only 2 spots in front of the deli.  We had to park 2 blocks away.

I ordered the halibut with a side salad for $9.95.  The hubby ordered the Little Italy sandwich.  It took about 25 minutes to get our meal...why so long???  It's not like they were busy.  The halibut was a bit on the dry side and very small in portion.  Thank goodness for the side salad.  I took a few bites from the sandwich...holy cow that was good.  It was loaded with Italian meats and melted cheese on a nicely toasted ciabiatta bread.  The spread was their roasted tomato pesto...yum.  The only thing missing was a pickle....no side whatsoever with the sandwich...seems odd.

We had some money leftover from the yelp deal so decided to pickup a package of linguine, 2 packs of the pestos, and a lb of the spicy sausage.  Can't wait to make dinner out of this tonight.

I came for the cheesecake but they ran out.  There wasn't a lot of pasta to choose from neither.  The selection was pretty scarce for a market.  Most likely we will not come back.  I would much rather shop at their farmers market.

I am currently set to open a Chiropractic office on College Ave and I was in the mood for seafood a few weeks ago when I was at my office.  When I walked into this place I immediately felt welcome.  I ordered the Halibut place with Greek salad.  All I gotta say is that this place is so good I am there once a week and I have introduced over 10 people to this place and not one has had any complaints.

Hit this place up if your in this neighborhood.

Damn, this review has got me craving another sandwich. I also bought a few selections from the wide variety of in house hummas. Peanut butter hummas I thought to myself. It was so good! Yelp does it again!  Sweet find kind of in the middle of nowhere, needed a place for lunch while waiting for my car to be ready.  Score!

Fresh food, great sandwiches, awesome clam chowder, and friendly staff.  Turns out this is the shop for Lisko's ... a farmer's market  A bit out of the way but will stop here when I'm in the area for sure.  They had a bunch of nice looking desserts too but I didn't try any.

Not a fancy place by any means ... a deli counter and a few tables.  But does the job if you want to sit an eat one of their tasty sandwiches.

Took home some spicy italian sausages and they were great!  Highly recommend this place.Next time I'll take home some venison sausage.

At first I was skeptical about visiting a fish market as my husband and I really don't know anything about them, but today we visited the actual store in San Diego and absolutely loved being there!

Upon arrivial we were greeted by the owner and he informed us about all the fresh fish products.  We stared intensely at the filets and pondered deeply on which to devour.  Eventually we selected the swordfish and halibut for him to GRILL FOR US.  Yes, this fish market will COOK THE FISH FOR YOU and OMG, it was AWESOME!  With only salt, pepper, and a lemon wedge we shared a greater appreciation for fresh fish. mMmmm.... heavenly and at a reasonable price too ($10).  The combo meal also included a generous side dish, which we loved as well. My husband chose the potatoe salad and I had the sweet potato fries, fabulous!

We also could not leave without trying their other products (below)...

Macroons ($3): They're kinda expensive but they're gigantic and totally worth it. We tried the pistachio and strawberry and the former is definitely a winner!
Fresh Sun Dried Tomatoe Hummus ($5):  Super flavorful. I would get this again :)
Pumpkin Spice Hummus ($5): Sorta tastes like a gingerbread cookie spread.  It wasn't my favorite, but still very good.

Overall this place is a gem and I look forward to visiting it whenever I'm in SD.  Great job Lisko!

This is a nice little deli that has a really good selection of fish, sandwiches and tasty treats but with prices over the regular fresh markets. When I arrived the hours on Yelp were wrong and the location between streets are still wrong even after I told the clerk.

I'm so stoked that Lisko opened up!  Everything they sell is amazing, and things you won't find for miles around.  The makeover they did of the space is incredible.  The fish is practically still breathing!  There is a large selection of pesto and hummus.  I just picked up peanut butter hummus which sounds weird, but is fantastic.  They also have great fresh pasta that is ready in a couple of minutes.  It's great if you want to pick up a gourmet meal that takes almost zero preparation on your part.  Plus lots of organic produce and fresh eggs.  I also noticed they have a lovely outdoor dining area, which is great if you wan't to eat one of their amazing wraps there.  I can't recommend this place highly enough.

I really like what this place is doing. I have tried the fresh Jalepeno Tomato pasta topped with Red Pepper and Sun Dried Tomato Pesto and it was amazing. I have also tried the Peanut Butter hummus and it was pretty sweet--more like a dessert. I tried the wasabi pea hummus and didn't much care for it. I kept running across pockets of wasabi that made steam come out my ears and brought tears to my eyes. Maybe it wasn't blended long enough? I have also tried the veggie deli sandwhich which had some grilled veggies on it along with hummus. I was curious if in the future I could get a specific flavored hummus on my veggie sandwhich, so I will ask that. On the menu I also saw some breakfast quiches, lasagna, and fresh grilled fish combos. They have a lot to offer in terms of variety at a deli. Parking is a bit cramped, so be prepared to walk from wherever you find parking.

The prices are rather expensive for me, but it is cheaper than dining out. You won't get pasta this fresh in a restaurant anyway. So when I get the itch to dine out for italian I will come here.

Some other great places for organic/eco-friendly food near this location is Grower's Direct and Terra American Bistro. Terra has a frequent diner card too so for every $100 you spend, you get a $10 credit. Grower's Direct is open 5 days a week and carries tons of organic produce and much more.

Oh man... You know a place is good when you dream about going their for dinner, after you just had lunch there.  I held out and went back the next day.  People complain about the location, but Rolando is a beautiful area, aside from el cajon blvd., the neighborhood just south is a hidden gem.  Now to the food:  The first day I got the fish plate with grouper and a quinoa salad.  It was the first time I had grouper and not the last.  Cooked to perfection and the salad was fresh and healthy as well.   Before I left, I checked in and got a coupon for $3 off any 3 hummus's/pesto's, so I splurged and damn I'm glad I did.  On day two I got the fish plate again but with some fresh albacore which was fresh that day and it as well was seared to perfection and I got it with a cous cous salad which was also scrumptious.  The beverage cooler has some ideals; fresh OJ and AJ, kombucha and other goods as well as fresh pasta, produce, dips and sauces  and a fun little cheese selection.  They also have some backed goods which I have yet to try but they're all made locally, which I like.  Now if only they could get a liquor license and serve some good beer!

We got a warm and authentic welcome; clerks came around the counter to talk pasta and pesto with us; the smells are so fresh and divine, lovely cheeses and fresh fish, pasta to rock your world and pesto that will bring you to your knees.

Can't wait to try the fresh sandwiches and amazing desserts.

I'm grateful you guys decided to open your little deli/grocery in my neighborhood; what a gem.

I'm surprised none of the reviews mentioned what a complete transformation the owners have done with the building. Great job on the renovation!!!

And of course, super delicious food as well. Rolando is a very lucky neighborhood!

While browsing yelp for a good meal tonight in the neighborhood I came across all the great reviews of this place and decided to give it a try. I'm really glad I did. While I usually only eat fish on the rare occasion- I am tempted to go back very soon and have some more. The fresh, seared salmon was so delicious. And the sweet potato fries were just plain fantastic. My mom got a sandwich that she loved and shared the fries with me.

We also picked up some fresh Chickpea pasta (Gluten free) and some free range, organic eggs at a nice price.

The owner was super-friendly, helpful, and definitely made me feel welcome to come back again. I hope this place stays in the neighborhood a very long time!

I heard about this place from a Google deal.  Definitely a random location but super fresh  and delicious.  The store has a tasting table for all of their hummus varieties--great marketing idea as we tried them all and had a hard time deciding which ones to bring home.

I ordered the oyster po boy--delicious! IT was my first po boy and i would definitely get it again.  Husband got the salmon plate--i wish they served wild salmon but they said demand is too high so they serve farmed.  he got the coleslaw, which i usually hate bc of the may factor, but their coleslaw is is light and fresh.

We also took home a couple macarons--what a treat!

I met these guys at a Farmer's Market and just came across their store so thought i'd pop in. GLAD I DID!

Pretty much everything I love in life is available here. Part local market with seafood and local produce, part casual eatery complete with full coffee bar.

Everything is locally sourced, organic and sustainable which is very cool but even better that this isn't a pretentious, overpriced yuppie feel-good hangout. It's down to earth with down to earth people who will help you make your choice without the fancy words.

Love this place.  Took my wife and two kids here a few weeks back for breakfast.  Absolutely amazing breakfast sandwiches, you can really taste the difference with the local fresh eggs, heirloom tomatoes (flavor!!), and locally baked bread.  Coffee was out of this world good (fresh rosted beans from Birdrock Cafe in La Jolla).  The kids had some OJ fresh from Valley Center, fresh fruit and a bagel with cream cheese.  Huge hit all around and we went home with some fresh pasta and pesto and a huge hunk of fresh albacore for dinner that night.  In case you are looking for fresh fish, this place has high quality, local product (some stuff from abroad as well) that is very well priced.

On top of the great food, the staff is awesome.  Tim and his mate that made us the coffee were really cheerful and were great to talk to.  If they were closer, we'd go here almost every day!

Three words: PEANUT FREAKING BUTTER HUMMUS.

Oh my god. It's $5 and gone much quicker than it should be, but delicious.
