I went once during the Canucks playoffs and it was CRAZY busy..the food was good and the service, though VERY busy and thus obiously slow, was still good. The wait staff was still nice even though clearly stressed. I didn't mind much, I wasn't here to focus on the service or food, I just needed a place to watch the game.
I came again after the Fan Expo in Vancouver after they had just been rocked...they must have been crazy busy again..we walked all over the pub trying to find a clean table. we ended up just sitting at a dirty one and someone rushed around us to clean it. It wasn't a big deal, they were just trying to recover from a huge rush. Once again, we were focused on the hockey game. The food was good though, and wait staff were polite.
Tried to just give em a break..we picked two crazy times to stop by...I'll go again though, I do like this place.
If you're looking for a place to watch the game, this is it. They have many huge tvs all over the pub, anywhere you turn your head. -

Had a quick bite here today with a coworker for lunch. We arrived 10mins prior to the lunch crowd so we were able to order and get our food to the table just as the masses were arriving. I had the beef dip and my friend a Montreal smoked meat style sandwich. Both were great, nice fries and a decent amount of dipping sauce for me.
The waitress was nice and friendly with no problems on drink refills. This is where this places shines just going with 2-4 people prior to their super busy times (weekdays).
Good food, nice atmosphere and a decent area can't go wrong.
Now if I could of only had a few beers with lunch :D :D -

I go here because it is the only Pub in Dundarave. It's taking a while for other restaurants to pop up on this great little strip of shops.
So if I get a night out to hang with adults and have a drink and I want to be in Dundarave, this is really the only place to go.
If the fish and chips were at least halibut and not cheap cod, I'd give it a better rating. -

The food is still very good and the ambience is still good but what the heck is up with the service?
I thought last time was a fluke so based on the location and food alone it was a good review but this time around it was just too much. The waitresses are just plain rude.
As soon as we walked in one girl rushed up behind us and started going "Excuse me! Excuse me! Behind you! Excuse me!" as she was trying to get by. First of all, we haven't even been told where to sit. There are no signs that said "Seat Yourself" but apparently that's what we were supposed to do. Then no one came to give us a menu.
When our waitress finally showed us the first thing she said was not to take our drink orders or ask what we were ordering. Instead she offered to throw out my full cup of Starbucks I had just bought. Then she proceeded to yammer on about how I can't put it on their table; it's the law; can't put it on the chair as it might spill and she didn't want to clean the upholstery; it has to go on the floor; she was doing me a favor because I wasn't even suppose to have it in the establishment; I could choke to death and my family would sue them because I was drinking it on their grounds; but bottled water is ok (I guess I can't choke on water. Only coffee). This went on for at least 5 minutes. She came by on 3 separate occasions to hassle me about my stupid Starbucks that I wasn't even consuming.
Honestly what is the big deal? I wasn't consuming an outside drink in their establishment. Why is water ok but not coffee? And if I did freaking choke and die how does my family even start finding out about the Starbucks??? Guess what people, if I freaking choked to death on your grounds it doesn't matter what I was or wasn't drinking! Having the Starbucks there could probably save you a law suit as you can say it wasn't your food or drink that killed me! Versus without the Starbucks, now who are you going to blame? It had to be your food/drink that killed me. Think about it! Saying "it's the law" doesn't make you any less of a pain the butt.
What I found especially hilarious was how the waitress offered to dump my coffee in a mug and then dump it back in the cup when I leave. How does this resolve the "coffee choked me to death" scenario in any way shape or form??? When I said no that's ok to this suggestion as its just too much effort she came back with "I'm the one doing all the work woman!". In that exact wording, verbatim. Honestly?
The entire meal then proceeded to be poor service. A refill of ice tea took 15 min. Then the bill took another 10. Then we waited another 15 min for her to come back and pick up the card and drop it off again. Did I mention there were only about 10 patrons on the entire place? No excuse for this kind of slowpokery people.
So, I take back what I said in the first review. This place is not worth 4 stars. Food is still decent but save yourself some freaking headache and go to the food court next door.1 Previous Review: Show all »

What a cute, British-style pub with a friendly atmosphere! We came in for a quick, healthy dinner of salad, no drinks. And the server didn't even seem annoyed. He was very warm and inviting as he seated us, and even remembered my friend from a visit she made 3 months prior. Now, that's service. On the other hand, I think he was the only guy working the whole floor so we had to refill our own water glasses. But it was a pleasant experience overall.

Laid-back, casual pub in a very central location with a decent variety of beers on tap for the lager lovers among you. (Daily drink specials too, for those of us who jump straight to the wine and cocktail menus.) They also make a very good Greek salad which was huge and loaded with peppers, feta cheese, kalamata olives, onion and tomato.
It's not the fanciest atmosphere or the best food downtown, but I enjoy the casual, traditional pub-style atmosphere and it's a great place to grab a drink and watch the game. The service is friendly and very good, too. -

Pub grub........again. Noisy, and crowded if you come here on game night, but that is the same with any pub type establishment in town.
Bigger beer list compared to wine, I prefer wine. :(
I come here for drinks. If I eat, it will be appys and I am not expecting anything earth shattering. Nachos are OK. Dry pork ribs are OK. Nothing to write home about. I don't expect much.
I noticed on the menu that they had bangers 'n mash....hmmmmmm. I do like bangers and mash. Maybe one day. -

You know the adage if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. This may apply here but Ive never been one to speak my mind. This was a fluke occurrence, i was not out trolling for the Lions Pub, happened to be at ab event at the Vancouver Club and there were the closest, cause go figure, I'm at the Vancouver Club and they have no food but the apples on the coffee tables and I wasn't sure how they'd take to me eating the decorations.
So, pub like, larger than most. I'm a bit of a bar chick, like to eat at the bar most time when I'm alone, so less pathetic. Based on the male crowd at the bar, rough, icky and rough, i chose a table this time. Not the sort of guys you'd want to have a cocktail party with in an alley let me say.
Anyhoo. Sat down, sat down, stayed down, getting kind of annoyed sitting down and finally had to get up and wave the bartender down. Got my menu and my harassed, tired waitress came over. I don't think she was tired from working, she just is tired I think, straight out of Corner Gas, world weary waitress shtick (I have never watched Corner Gas but i saw enough previews).
I asked about a martini they had, it looked interesting and YEAH, I GET IT, who the *&$% orders a martini at a pub and expects it to be decent, it was horrid, she talked it up, i was an idiot and it was awful. My bad.
Ordered the beef skewers, medium rare, with salad. OK, writing this I know, who orders lamb skewers and a salad at a pub with a martini?
You know whats coming, it was dry, well done and I ate it, because it was a whopping $14 of crap but damn it was not going to waste.
The experience was sub par, I am never going back. I don't like beer or burgers (unless its gourmet and prissy).
My waitress pulled the vanishing woman act and I had to tackle the bartender again for the bill.
If you like plaid, plumber butt, beer, burgers and bangers and hang out in alleyways, THIS is the place for you!
I marked this as pricey because for a pub and the quality of food it should have been half of what I paid. -
Review from Edward L.
Came here to watch the Canucks.
The venue is quite large, but was completely packed. It was a war zone, which is to be expected. There is an outdoor patio available which should be nice, but
I had a chance to try their appies platter, and wasn't too impressed. There were 2 types of wings and some carrot and celery sticks, but they didn't taste that fresh. (read: soggy)
The Lions burger was quite disappointing. The patty was too small (but it was thick), so I ran out of meat about 3/4 of the way into the sandwich. The toppings were generous (ie thick slices), but for a burger this is a bad thing, as it meant everything fell (or should I say squished) out as soon as you bit into it. Lastly, the bun was over-toasted. The top bun cracked in half when I attempted to squish down with my hands, in a futile attempt to keep the toppings from flying out the sides. In terms of taste though, the burger is decent. So were the fries.
Pints of Bud and Bud Light were on special for $5.xx (closer to $6) today. Not much of a special at that price if you ask me.
Lastly, my other complaint is that the layout kinda sucks for watching sports. Because of the way the tables were oriented, everyone had to turn their heads sideways to watch the game. Our table had to look in opposite directions to catch the game, effectively killing off any and all conversations. Also some of the screens are simply too small, such that they look like non-HD TVs from afar. Can't even see the puck on some of them.
It's not a bad place to chill, but to be honest, it's also not the best place to catch any sports action. -

"Mouse!!"
OK, in fairness we were sitting on the patio so it's not like we saw him (perhaps a bit presumptuous, I don't actually know the gender) in the restaurant. A friendly little fella, he kept us entertained trying to work on the remnants of a tortilla chip while we drank in our pints.
It's a nice looking British pub inside with plenty of drink options. I had been waiting all trip to finally try an Alexander Keith's and decided on the IPA. What the server gave me was not an IPA, perhaps a golden ale. However, I didn't want to disturb Vance (we named him Vance) so I sat in my chair and drank it down. It's my fault for not noticing the slip-up on the order right away but it didn't help that our server never came back to our side of the patio to check on us.
I'd like to give Lions Pub another whirl and start fresh. Perhaps we'll try in the colder months when Vance is on holiday in California. -

Pretty good place for a game night. We went on a sunday night and it was half empty. Probably because it was Easter. I liked it since I hate lining up and waiting for a table!
My bf had a burger with yam fries which was pretty good, and I enjoyed a strawberry, goat cheese salad which was delicious! This is my favourite salad, but I gotta make it myself or buy it at Capers since it is not that popular in restaurants. I really don't know why, it is super delicious. Girls, try it!
Beer list is decent, they have one of my favourites - Leffe!
Overall, good value for your money, and nice interior! -

Had an early dinner here on Saturday evening with a small group o' friends. Lions was the closest pub to the Trade and Convention Centre and we were heading to Taboo straight after dinner so we didn't want to walk very far.
Typical pub fare, alright prices and a few drink specials. Other than our waitress being slow, the experience was good. I had brushcetta and a couple of drinks... hi-balls are $6-ish and drop shots are around $7. -

Lion's Pub is an old-style English pub sitting by the glitz and ritz of the Vancouver waterfront. You pretty much walk out of the polished Canada Place skyline, past the impossibly clean white exterior and patio and you're inside a dark, dank English pub. Nice.
Prices for the food are decent for the area about $9 - $15 per entree and they have many of the English staples on the menu. My friends enjoyed their fish and chips and my pulled pork sandwich was pretty good - save the coleslaw that it came with.
There's lots of local and British beer on tap - about $6 for a local 'mug' and $8 for a imported 'mug'. I say 'mug' like that since it's about $2 more than their 'glass' and what they call a 'mug' is about a pint elsewhere. I guess when you say a 'mug of beer' to me, I instantly picture a beerstein (I set myself up for disappointment). So prices on the beer aren't that great - but probably fair if you don't want to go to Gastown nearby.
So - the food is pretty good, drinks aren't very cheap and there's an outdoor patio if you enjoy the sights of maddenly polished and touristy area around Canada Place. Or sit inside the classic pub interior for a change of pace from the rest of the area.
For a Saturday night, it was pretty dead, so I guess it's a good place if you just want a chill place to have a beer. Completely different vibe (or lack thereof) compared the Gastown bars nearby.Listed in: A Compendium of Fine…

I was surprised at how few reviews there are for this place. Since I don't have cell coverage outside of the US and I didn't have my handy Yelp app to consult, we were just winging it for the day. We were absolutely starving and decided we would have lunch at the first place that looked interesting. Since we were staying at the Marriott down the street, we stumbled upon Lions Pub pretty quick.
We opted to dine out on the patio since it was a gorgeous day. It was around 1 PM on a Friday and the place was busy but not packed. I ordered the veggie wrap and my friend ordered the veggie burger. Our food was really good but service left a little something to be desired. It was fairly busy and we were sitting outside but when you're waiting around for an extra thirty minutes to pay and you'd rather be out sightseeing, my patience grows thin.
I'm not sure it will be at the top of my list for my next trip up to Vancouver, since there are so many other restaurants to try, but it's not bad if you're staying in the area. -

Fun place to watch sports. We sat at the bar and had drinks only so I don't know how the food is. They do have a good selection of drinks and the service was very good. Fun crowd. Free wi-fi.

This was one of those surprises in the downtown area. By surprise, I mean the english pub style action they have going on.
It's surrounded by Canada Place, expensive waterfront hotels and generally touristy stuff. It's great as an alternative to what you can get accustomed seeing around this part of the city. This is what made me wander over to this place.
It opens at 11 am and fills up really fast. I was surprised! It is very much pub food you will be going for here. So with that in mind, I ordered the shepard's pie. I was disappointed in how soupy it was. Ya know, you can't have soupy shepards pie! I went to England and I tell you a traditional pie is not soupy!!!!
This does not deter me though. It has a really busy, relaxed atmosphere which I can imagine after work would be a great place to hang out. There's a sports bar feel to this place too. Well, I guess the sports playing on the screens should have made me guess that one.
Go there, for a relaxed time. Bring a group of friends for a pint or two. They definitely carry a multitude of beer fare to choose from. -

After searching for what seemed like forever, we finally decided on this place for lunch. My blood sugar was dangerously low at this point, so I was in a big hurry to be served!
I ordered the veggie burger and luckily everything came out pretty quickly! It was a really tasty veggie burger, meaning actual veggies, not some soy protein...and I got the side salad, which had really nice, light dressing.
I also really enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the nice weather, people-watching.
The only downside, again, was the service. It took us awhile to get our check at the end of the meal, but at least my tummy was happy at that point, so I wasn't as upset as I could have been... -

Not a bad place for a quick lunch. The food was decent and typical. Nothing special. No real wow factor. Friendly waitress - attentive and prompt service.

I went here to watch the hockey game on a Sunday night. We showed up right as the game was starting, and I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to find a table for four right away. I thought the place would be packed.
I really liked the decor, and how large the place was. It had a really cool old English pub vibe to it.
The televisions were weirdly angled where we were sitting, and I had to crane my neck a little bit to watch the game.
The food we ordered was not great, but average for pub food I guess. I had the "Ploughman's Lunch," which was a meat and cheese platter with an uncut baguette and add-ons like onions and pickles. It was like a build-it-yourself sandwich platter. I wasn't thrilled I had to cut the bread myself, and because the baguette was a bit hard on the outside, I made an unholy mess trying to saw off little pieces to combine with the meat and cheese. There were crumbs everywhere.
My boyfriend ordered the shrimp appetizer, and the batter they cooked the shrimp in was crunchy and gross. He peeled it off to eat the shrimp inside. Not cool.
The cheeseburger sliders someone else ordered were proclaimed to be tasty.
The service was good -- we never had to wait very long for our drinks to be refilled, even though it was game night.
As soon as the game ended around 7:30, though, our waitress announced it was last call for drinks and they were closing. What? I know it was a Sunday, but I thought that was really weird, and it annoyed me.
I would come here again just for the decor and nice location near the waterfront. -

We sat down to a really dirty table, which was followed by a waitress who didn't even acknowledge us practically just throwing the menus at us without a word. Obviously we just walked right out.
