I always come here to get my Brazilian wax done. I don't come here very often but when I do, I always use the Entertainment Coupon (50% off). $60 regular price for a Brazilian? Holly... that is day light robbery.

I've had a number of different aestheticians here. Some are better than others, some aren't but overall the service has been consistent. I guess it really depends on how you like your waxing done. You can take a bigger surface area of hair out at a time but of course it would be a lot more painful as opposed to pulling hair bit by bit, not as painful but the torture seems forever. The aestheticians are friendly and courteous. The receptionists, regardless of gender, are also snooty and have an attitude.

I had a body wrap done here once before and it was meh.

I am very neutral about this place. If I knew a better place (and more affordable), I am gone.

Best Brazillian Wax according to the Georgia Straight? I think not. Maybe I was pampered by my past waxer, or my standards are high but I was not impressed by Linda's Urban Spa.

Quick and somewhat painful, that's to be expected I suppose. I've had better "bedside" manner in the past, but service is something you pay extra for and Linda's Urban Spa is pretty cheap ($30). The problem is they lack in thoroughness as there were stray hairs in general when I checked it later on. Especially near the back. I think maybe the technique may have been off considering there may have just been hairs that were broken off near the base, but not completely out.

Also, if you are big on no double dipping, this is not the place to do it. They use a metal spatula in a pot of wax where only god knows how long it has been there. The pot was quite hot though and when i mentioned this, the person was nice enough to let it cool a little before application.

Apparently, it's very popular with UBC students as it's close by. To be honest, I don't get the hype. However, this place is cheap. If you're okay with its flaws, then you've found yourself a cheap place to go for a wax!

Ahhhh - the bikini waxer's place to go and never be seen.  Consistently quick and effective, they deserve the awards they have won for best bikini wax in the Georgia Straight's annual reader's vote.

Of special interest is their pricing. It's a no brainer to get a VIP membership. It will likely pay for itself when you sign up - giving you much better prices on all of their services.

I'm planning on trying on a massage for size next time I torture myself with a wax.

Linda's Urban Spa is, by far, my preferred place to go when I need anything done. Whether it be a wax, pedicure or a massage, they offer a wide variety of services, which are consistently done perfectly.

Unlike some of their peers, they continue to provide these services at very affordable rates--rates that become even more affordable if you obtain VIP membership. Occasionally, they also have specials that entitle clients to a discounted rate (the service varies from month to month and is dependent on the esthetician).

The atmosphere is calm and tranquil, despite the fact that it's always buzzing with clients coming and going (be sure to call ahead). Really, it's what you would expect from any day spa: new age music playing quietly in the background; the sound of water cascading in that tiny battery-operated waterfall replica in the corner; lifestyle and health magazines strewn across the coffee table; and finally, clients waiting patiently to be poked and prodded into relaxation.

I have been going to Linda's for about 2 years now...I live across town but it is the VIP discount card that keeps me coming back for treatments at a reasonable price.

This is not where I go when I want to treat myself to a relaxing spa treat such as a facial or massage. Linda's is for maintenance (waxing, pedicures). It is easy to get an appointment, even a few days in advance and generally they are very quick and cleanliness seems excellent.

I have had two less than stellar experiences in 2 years. One about a year ago, where I waited a half hour past my appt because they completely forgot about me and if it wasn't for the generosity of another esthetician, I wouldn't have made it in.

The last time I went, the esthetician didn't do a great job of the wax and I actually got a minor infection on the side of one of my toes. I would be more alarmed but I had seen this same lady before with only great results.

This is why the downgrade to 3 stars...otherwise I would give it 4.

No. 1 recommendation for Brazilian Wax - staff are friendly, service are consistent.  I've been going to them for the last 3 years and never have any problem with my appointment and the quality of the service.

Went to get some work done... It was alright. Quick, to the point, not sure about painless.

I think for the west end, this is a good option for cheap beauty services. Even with the VIP membership though, it's a little more pricey than what I pay in Surrey, and I think the cleanliness level is almost similar. I would actually go back to Linda's and get the VIP membership and go for massages and what not. And when I move to the west end, I will probably go here for more of my other beauty treatments, as Surrey will probably be way too far for me to go on a regular basis to (which is where I normally get waxing done).  I'm actually really excited for discounted hot stone massages.

And koodos to Linda's for being in business for more than 20 years!

I was swayed by the first time VIP prices... but alas, will not be returning.

The ladies at the front were super nice and offered me some tea while I was waiting.

My masseuse basically gave me no choice and told me hot stone massage was her specialty, and that was what I was going to get.  I've never had a hot stone massage, and after that one I am pretty sure I like Swedish better.  I had told her the areas I was having pain in, but she didn't seem to take note and just gently rubbed hot stones over me.  It was... interesting to say the least.  I can't say I left feeling any better nor did I feel like I had even had a massage.  She also didn't check in with me to see if the pressure was okay.  Maybe because there was no pressure.  I also left feeling REALLY oily.... it would've been nice for her to offer a towel or something.

Maybe I just got the wrong masseuse (name starts with a G) but I really don't think I will be returning.

On a positive note, I did like all the products they had in their waiting area.

Great place for maintenance. And you can't beat their prices if you get the VIP card. High recommend! Great service too.

    UPDATE
I went in for a manicure and never again. The manicurist didn't cut my cuticles at all, didn't even push them back, hence my french mani looks like crap and is peeling from the bottom of the nail. 3 day mani for 50 bucks + tip? I think not.

Yet another update. With Mattie on vacation until I leave for mine, I was forced to try someone new again. I made sure I didn't see the people I hadn't liked before, and ended up with Subadeh. She did a great job. So now I (and you!) have 2 reliable options for waxing needs.

tried this place for the first time today.... a little time of pampering was LOooOng overdue for this busy lady!

they were having this fantastic promo for first timers (and VIPS), a 1 hour deluxe facial for 39.20...so i pounced on it!

the receptionist greeted me with a enthusiastic hello and a warming smile, confirmed my appointment and since i was early, showed me to the little waiting area by the front.  comfy couches, clean and tranquil.  last minute, i asked if i could add a quick eyebrow waxing and she nodded, a quick click of the mouse and it was done. sweet. =)

justine was the one taking care of me today...she seemed rather young and unsure of herself...maybe new on the job?  everything she said and did was on the timid side...but i guess that is alright, i am not saying i expect her to be rough with me by any means.
my eyebrows are cleaned up but i have had it done better.  (pain factor, NIL)
facial was nice though...very nice..... and that is where the timid side of her really helps.
she also did a great shoulder, collar, neck and face massage... oh my... i didnt want it to end... but i didnt want to fall asleep either... oh, was it good!

i have been looking for spa/salons that offer lash extensions, so i asked if they did...they dont at the moment, but they have been 'talking' about it..so hopefully in the near future??
i hope so! cuz if they do..i am definitely gonna get the $25 VIP membership, so worth it!
even if they dont i think i will still get the membership.

OK, So I really like this place for their massages. They are cheap (with the VIP) and my girl, Cathy does an AMAZING job. Sometimes I need a break from my RMT and go for a massage for relaxing purposes. The only thing is that there aren't any showers like other spa's, so you'd need to go home before going out. But that I can deal with. I've gone to Cathy now for over 2 years and have never been disappointed.

The spa itself is nice, the room and the spa music they choose is fairly relaxing. The downside is that sometimes when it's busy, the walls are a bit thin and you can hear the action going on outside or even somethings out on the street (car horns etc).

I've tried other services but the massages are really the only thing I go for. I have tried their waxing, but prefer Stripped in Yaletown. I have gotten my eyebrows done a few times -- and that's the only thing that has ever made me upset. I've gone to two different women and although I tell them to NOT thin my eyebrows and just clean it, they always end up making them extremely thin and they always cut off the tip (closer to the middle of your face)... why? I have NO IDEA. So the few times that I have gone to get my eyebrows done, I have left extremely upset.

But because the prices are amazing and Cathy is still there, I'll frequent Linda's Urban Spa as one of my "guilty pleasures".

I got a great wax done at Linda's. There is a reason this is an institution. I will be purchasing the members card and going here for all my waxing needs. I'd been testing out different spas that had good prices on waxing and this one has ended my search.

Have you ever gotten a nice, oh-so-soothing massage while construction work (i.e. drilling) was going on in the floor above? I have. Yesterday. Believe me, it's not a good mix and that's why I'm giving this spa just three stars. It's a good thing Georgia's hot stone massage was really really relaxing or else I would've bolted. On second thought, I really should have DESPITE the massage-expertise of said Georgia because the experience was confusing: my nerves were unraveling, I would be drifting off to dreamland and the drilling would start. HEAVY, NOISY DRILLING. Georgia DID apologize but still, a lot more could have been done to appease this customer who basically did not ever expect to hear anything more than nature or sea sounds at a spa.
Mattie's facial and pedicure and waxing was good too and since her room was downstairs, I was thankfully spared from the construction cacophony above.
