Review from Laura P.
So my last Lily's sum-up wasn't the greatest, and with less than great impressions, I always like to follow up mediocre reviews with a second shot.
Presentation was much better this time around. A friendly welcoming and attractive displays warrant some want for pretty undies. I am informed that all Juicy Couture product is, indeed, on sale... thanks. Moving on, Lily's keeps it classy with the delicate and sexy sort of skivvies that i can warm to. Yes ladies, its classy gear. Although, the prices aren't so even-steven, and i cannot seem to get a grip on silk thongs for $250. Avoiding a large and inquisitive rant, the idea of paying so much for a less than mythical pair of panties seems foolish.
Lounge-wear and robes is where i could justify. Not now, but in my relaxed and luxurious future could I dare to indulge. Rich fabrics and the uppity of ups... it could happen.
On the overall scope of things, I'll likely pass by Lily's in favor of somewhere a little more practical. I do love quality over quantity, but Lily's did not provide enough to win me over. I'd rather shell out such cash for a nice pair of boots.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Not worth my time.
I have no issues with spending a fair amount of money on a good bra. If the bra is going to hold up and look amazing- I do not mind spending $300.
Unfortunately I spent about $350 on the worst fitting bra I've ever had.
I'm used to proper bra fittings- and I trust the experts. I have a larger chest and I know that quality bras are important. Unfortunately the saleswoman at Lily's didn't have a clue.
I let her talk me into very ill fitting bra. To be honest, I'm disappointed in myself for listening to her and ultimately making a useless, expensive purchase.
I mentioned that I thought the bra strap as too high in the back and she explained that it was just the style. She talked me into it, told me it looked great.
Once I got home I realized I had been duped and there was nothing I could do. They take the tags off and there are no returns. The bra really did not fit- it was terrible.
I do my best to support small businesses locally. But this is one small business that will never see me again. I expect a certain level of honest expertise which I did not receive. -

Lily's is a quiet little secret that recently moved from one of the side streets onto Spring Garden Rd proper. Probably a good thing, too - their foot traffic will no doubt be much improved with a centrally-located storefront.
I've shopped at Lily's several times; for those of us with "abundant blessings" (wink wink nudge nudge) it's the must-shop lingerie destination in all of Halifax.
Their inventory is spectacular. Bras and panties in all sorts of fine embellishments line the walls, drawing your eye to one, then another, and then yet another. Beware: the price tags are equally decorated. Don't get me wrong: when you are hard to fit, finding a good bra is priceless. Just know what you're getting into when you enter Lily's - expect to pay north of $200. Per bra.
My sister and I shop at Lily's whenever she's in town. We usually manage to hit the sales and are able to stock up on a couple of bras for under $300. (And yes, that hurts to type.) But like I said, quality and fit are two things that you can't put a price on.
One drawback to Lily's : the sales staff can be a bit ... distant. You'll get great service if you're shopping the regular-priced racks but not so much if you make a beeline for the clearance side. (We've experienced this phenomenon more than once, which makes me believe it's a habit and not just a bad day.)
Nevertheless, I have to give Lily's four stars for their inventory, both in styles and sizes. I keep going back time and again. -

I take it back Lily's... Having popped into this shop today for a fitting I would like to rescind all previous comments!
I headed into Lily's today because I am heading traveling for 2 months and need multi-use, supportive bras that I won't be able to destroy in a matter of weeks.
I made a bee line right for the 50% off section and was surprised to see a wide assortment of bras, undies and lingerie. The owner quickly approached me and asked if I knew my size (relevant question). She then proceeded to reach out, feel my rib cage and start pulling items. Man, without going into detail, I have been wearing very much the wrong size. I think most of us are probably inclined to buy bras that are too large around. ie: If you're a real 32, you probably buy 34, real 34, you're probably buying 36. Not good ladies! Even without a fitting, the next time you're in, try going a size down in inches and 1-2 sizes up in cup. I was amazed by how much better my bust looked after being appropriately sized!
Lily's still losses a star from me for exorbitant pricing. Even at 50% off my two purchases were still well within the $100 mark each. The fitting alone sort of makes this worth it to me though as I now have two supportive pieces that look beautiful too!1 Previous Review: Show all »

The sales lady here sold me an improperly fitting bra, as they had none in my proper size. I did not know this at that point however. Really, the lady just wanted to make a sale. Poor selection, poor sales people.

On a sunny stroll down Spring Garden today, my friend and I decided to swing into Lily's to take a gander.
We were instantly greeted by a friendly woman offering us bra fittings, which is one of the services they specialize in. We opted for simply browsing today, but it was nice to be informed right off the bat that this service is available.
I was floored by the diverse selection of bras for sale, but at soon as I looked at the price tags my original enthusiasm over the variety turned to shock over the large digits. Call me a cheapskate but there were bras for $150-$250 and underwear, I'm talking one pair, for $150. This is insane to me!
I appreciate specialty shops and independently owned boutiques operating within a niche market, but I don't know many people who can afford these prices. However, they did have a sale section in the back with bras for $50 - a bit more reasonable but still pricey in my books.
If I had the coin, I may be inclined to shop at Lily's. They offer custom fittings and can help you find the perfect fitting undergarments. Beware that this isn't a shop where you'll find inexpensive knickers. It's more of a serious investment, time to spend a bundle on your undies kind of place. -

Like Courtney M., I went into Lily's after seeing the sale signs in their windows. Also like Courtney M., I was unprepared for the prices that greeted me. I took advantage of the bra-fitting services, despite being a bit nervous about it and am glad I did. It wasn't invasive, the saleswoman simply felt the bra I was currently wearing and assessed the way it was fitting. I've always heard that statistic that something like seventy percent of women wear the wrong size of bra, but I never thought there was anything wrong with mine. Turns out I was wrong. The Lily's lady brought me twenty or so to try on while I was there. Of those, one or two fit me well but they were each over $200. That's a *bit* much for me to spend on an undergarment, but I had thought maybe I'd find something that was marked down enough to be worth it. No such luck on this day. I left without buying anything but with a better understanding of how I should be shopping for bras in the future.
