If you park your car in the underground parkade below, and do not take the elevator, and walk up the flight of stairs leading into the mall, there is no way in the world you would have missed this bakery. The blue background, with the big white letters, this bakery is really the first one you see out of everything in the mall. And the only bakery that is not a Chinese bakery, as they do not have your regular coconut buns, and bbq pork buns, but what they serve is different. As other reviews have said, they have Spanish bread, they have cheesecakes, and other country delicacies.

It is nice to have a place like this here, as they have such a different assortment of pastries to go along with the bubbletea, or coffee you plan to buy in this mall, but just do not want the normal. Get here early, because by the end of the day, as they have some pretty good stuff, you will notice that the racks are pretty bare from everyone else buying up the stuff. If you do not take a peak at this place when you come in, take a place before you descend back into the parking lot to your car. And for those of you who have not tried, give it a taste, you will be surprised.

My word to your tummies, the spanish bread is good! This sweet and tad salty soft bread with sugar, vanilla, and butter all combined as a sugarlicious filling is a must, must try. Enough to make your belly a big happy carbo loaded one!

Located at the lower level of Crystal Mall right across the crowded chinese bakery, the offerings are not as plentiful on the counter and glass casings. I would have even walked passed this, and won't bother stopping if not for the friendly owner who kindly offered we taste their freshly baked bread. I honestly didn't feel like partaking of any samples but felt impolite to say no at that moment. Glad I did, and she knew I immediately was smitten with the Spanish bread. She tells me some fresh ones are in the oven and will be done in a few minutes.

They seem to be living up to their tagline "always fresh", as they guarantee everything you buy is only a maximum of 30 minutes old from the oven. Hence, the display is not plentiful, and they encourage baked to order breads.

So after having a filling lunch at the upstairs food court, I came back for my freshly baked Spanish bread and could not resist to devour one piece. Damn carb coma, I could inhale a dozen of these if I am allowed to! Aside from the Spanish bread, they offer other sorts of sweet bread, and variations with hazelnut chocolate filling inside, brioche with sugar topping, glutinous rice balls etc.

Four stars for now, as I have yet to try the other offerings, and have yet to determine if I only lucked out the first time, or their breads are truly "always fresh".

Though the décor and pastries here are quite modest (especially compared to the fancier and colourful cakes at the other bakery a few stalls down), Lily Bakery has something that you don't usually find in a Chinese mall - Latino (and/or Filipino?) pastries!

I got a Japanese chocolate cheesecake (guess they're more multicultural than I thought) and a pan de queso. The cheesecake (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) was great! Cake-ier than your typical western-style cheesecake, it had a dense-but-light spongy texture but was still very moist. Flavourwise it was chocolate-y and mildly cheesy. I also really liked the pan de queso (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...), which was a cheesy bread that was both sweet and salty. It had a sugary cheese crust that crumbled as I bit into it, making a mess of my chin and shirt; but, a few swipes with my hand quickly took care of that. The inside (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) was chewy, kinda like a mochi/bread hybrid. Delish!
