Huwhaaatt?? Not one single review of this place? No way, this I cannot abide!  Everyone needs to know what a gem of a place this is!

Once upon a time, when I lived in a far away land called Victoria, I had a friend who moved to a farther away land known to Islanders as Langford and known to wannabe yuppies now as Westshore.  The bakery itself is about a 15 minute drive from Victoria, 20 minutes if you don't want a speeding ticket from Saanich police and about 40 minutes if you happen to be an unlucky schmuck caught in the Langford crawl (beg your pardon, Westshore crawl).

Don't be put off (and/or depressed) by the ancient, Flash-free website with the 80's dressed family because let me tell ya, this eighties family get up is nothing more than a cover up for super, mega-satisfying cake awesomeness that they churn out from their bakery.  They know their stuff.  The Chocolate Orange Torte, Hedgehog Cake and Turtle Cheesecake are good palate starters to warm you up to their vast repertoire of pastries.  From what I can remember, at times you can get the cakes in individual slices but if not, who can NOT eat a whole cake anyway?  I know I can.  Anyway, when you're all psyched by my review, move up to their Raspberry Decadence cake (fresh whipped cream, white chocolate mousse, fresh raspberries); it will f-ing blow your mind. It did mine, that's for sure.  I remember my mom-in-law (henceforth to be known as MIL) buying it for someone's birthday and me sitting in their living room, all high and stoned from this cake.  There's also plenty of parking as the bakery is located conveniently in a plaza and the staff is pretty great.

I've had decadent desserts in NYC, Manila, Taipei, Shanghai, Hongkong and now in Vancouver and this place is right up there with the Zagat-rated, Michelin-star places for me.  Five stars for cake awesomeness; the only minus is for the 80's get up on the website.
