I've been visiting Lift Salon for the last 3 years and I'm a fan. It's hard to find a great salon as I've encountered many salon stylists who are better suited at 'Super Cuts'.

The Salon is trendy; modern and minimal in it's design. The staff and stylists are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Its located along Adelaide and offers convenient parking right outside the building. A wash, cut and style (for men) costs around $50, which is reasonable for the city. I highly recommend Lift Salon.

Just came back from Lift after the worst experience in my life at a salon.

    1. They got my appointment time wrong. As I booked my appointment about two weeks ago, I personally called in to confirm that it was still at the scheduled time; the girl on the phone confirmed. They also called me and left me a voice message confirming my appointment at the given time. When I got there (after about a 2 hour commute), the front person was very rude saying that it wasnt their fault. Only when I offered to show her my voicemail did she say she could fit me in.

    2. Generally at salon and spas, they greet you at the door, offer you a drink and to take your coat. I sat there helplessly wondering if my coat would be taken. I was not even offered water. Albeit, everyone else there was drinking white wine.

    3. While waiting, I looked up to find the ceiling rusting. If you ever walk in there, just go to the front desk and look up. The exposed roof is trendy, but the entire atmosphere was of cost saving (that is not reflected in the prices) i.e. the carpet is held down by masking tape.

    4. If you have to use the bathroom, I would recommend going to the starbucks down the street. The bathroom was horrid- every girls nightmare- no real locks!

    5. My hairdresser was the only good thing about the entire salon. He was great! Extremely nice and friendly, did a great job on my hair and gave me complimentary make up. Ask for Taka.

    6. I noticed some discrimination. First I thought I was being treated like dirt because I had a voucher. However, I noticed other customers had vouchers but were not treated like me. I wondered what was wrong with me and the answer was pretty clear, I was the only customer in the salon that was not Caucasian- and thus, on the same line of flawed logic, poor. I in deed, am not poor at all. Just finished my MBA, and I love splurging on salons. Too bad they couldn't capture me as a loyal customer

Conclusion- WORST SALON AND SPA EXPERIENCE EVER!

    This place is horrible!!!

I bought a $39 voucher in November 2010 for a 1 hour massage, pedicure and manicure. When I had called to make an appointment, the receptionist was incredibly rude and notified me that their weekend appointments were booked up until the fall, so I settled for a weekday appointment on July 7th. When that day came, I received a phone call that they wouldn't be able to provide me a massage due to staffing issues, so I reschedule for a month later on August 5th (yesterday). Because I had received a phone call confirming my appointment the day before, I was under the impressions that everything's good, no more staffing issues. Little did you know, when I arrived at my appointment yesterday, they told me that once again I would not be able to receive a massage because the masseuse had resigned. Not once did they have the courtesy to call me during the day to notify me of this issue. They also told me that if I wanted to get the massage, I would have to call back in about 2 weeks (that's approximately when they will hire a new masseuse) to schedule an appointment, so it's evident that they have been interviewing for a while, and the old masseuse did not just leave the job yesterday. I had no choice but to accept the manicure and pedicure only since I drove all the way from Richmond Hill (approx. 30 min., not including traffic) and had already paid $10 for parking, not to mention gas.  I don't mind traveling and paying for parking, if the service I receive is excellent. But having to receive the poor service, and asked to do it TWICE? No thank you!
