Review from Katy H.
As an event planner, I was thoroughly impressed with this space. Divided into a few sections, you could easily host an event for anywhere from 30 guests to 500. In fact, I just attended a massive party here and found that even with hundres of guests there's still plenty of room to dance and weave through the crowds.
Every employee in the venue was incredibly kind and easy to work with. Hosting a big event takes a lot of people and everywhere I looked there was someone working really hard to make sure the event was a huge success. The space transformed from a rather raw space into a rad 90's party complete with purple furniture, a DJ , food, and 3 bars!
If only we had more venues in Seattle like this. I'm so glad to have checked out Life because it made my quick Dallas trip totally worth the jetlag.Listed in: Throwing a party?, Traveling..., Dallas, Texas!

This place is open airy, and there are rooms that have their own character.
You walk in, past the brick facade and enter a gallery. Connected to it is a coffee shop sidled along the black wall, and you can also fit a long table for whatever your heart desires (i.e. place to sell things, place to give out samples for products). Adjacent to that is a an area with old, your-parents-had-that-mustard-color-psychedelic-i' m-on-drugs couches. In cool shapes, that is.
What I love are the various orbs and lamps hanging from the ceiling. Makes you realize what YOUR living room is missing. Well, mine at least. -

I have attended numerous events now at this venue and have always enjoyed the vast openness of the main room. Although it's tricky to fill it up to avoid your event coming across as lame, your event can be a 300 person event and the guests still seem to get lost in the large concrete space reminiscent of its industrial and urban counterparts in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. Nonetheless, the venue's layout creates a nice flow with a foyer serving as nice entrance that welcomes guests with a friendly greeting usually seen it their rotating art shows or the cozy coffee shop flanking the venue featuring local musicians. The main space boasts an awesome stage with incredible acoustics - making it an awesome venue for any event. Concert? sure! Talent show? sure! Play? sure! DJ? For Sure!
More importantly, the community initiative supporting the space is my favorite component. The venue's sole purpose was designed to facilitate all and any community involvement. Other than illegal things, I don't think there is anything you can't utilize this space for. Everything from local concerts and art shows to yoga and other lifestyle activities. In short, it's a kick-ass space built to celebrate all things Dallas, and even more in particular - to Celebrate Deep Ellum. -

I went here for a Yelp event and really thought it was a cool space. It's very industrial and modern, which fits well in Deep Ellum. The main room is pretty big and would be a cool place for a large private event. When I was there they had little cocktail table, couches all the the space and even had a stage.

I love this space. It's very open and contains a stage. I went to a Yelp event here and it was great. The space worked well for the vendors to be surrounding the perimeter of the space, large tables and a few seating areas and there was still a good sized dance floor.

I went here for a Yelp even and was very impressed. I used to be a regular of deep Ellum back in the mid 90's and loved all the live music and dance venues they had back then. That scene went away so have not been to deep Ellum much. This was a nice fresh of breath air and in one word this place is COOL! There were plenty of rooms to mingle in and had a pastry and coffee shop inside. There were several pieces of nice art work to add to the ambiance. Nice to see cool places again in this area.

Big empty space for a super cool event? Check.
Accessible bathrooms? Check.
Concrete floors for easy post-event cleanup? Check.
Plenty of parking for guests? Check.
I went to a private event last night at Life in Deep Ellum for Eventbrite. I had no idea this venue even existed... crazy. And it's right in the heart of Deep Ellum, making it super easy to find.
Definitely check it out if you're looking to throw a big shindig. Seems like it would take lots of extra staging and decorations to make the place pop, but at least it'll be unique if you do!Listed in: Dallas event spaces and venues

I decided to venture out of the traditional church and try out Life in Deep Ellum for church yesterday. What a cool concept of this place. This church has a passion for people. Loving, inviting and accepting people of all types. I walked in and was looking for my friend. A girl came up to me and introduced herself and was so nice and welcoming. I knew I was at a place where I felt comfortable and could be me. The venue and the people make it authentic and down to earth. It is a Bible based church. I think they just have one service on Sundays at 11 a.m. The service is a bit long, but so good for the soul! If church isnt your thing, I would highly suggest trying this place out and maybe you might change your mind. There is also a coffee shop located in the venue called Mookah I want to try.

Life in Deep Ellum (LIDE) is a pretty cool place. When I first went I wasn't sure what to expect because the website said it was a cultural center. My first thought was that they had arts & crafts and maybe taught some classes. I was surprised to find so much more. It's a church, an art gallery, a coffee shop, yoga, counseling, etc. I was really surprised to find a place like this in Deep Ellum of all places. The vibe has definitely changed in the last 10 yrs. and all for the better. I live nearby in the neighborhood and it is really nice to have a place like this close to home. I mostly attend "The Gathering" and I love that there is no dress code - jeans & t-shirts are welcomed. If you are ever in the mood for spiritual growth, music on a Friday night, or a cup of coffee check this place out.

Life in Deep Ellum for me was the place I've been looking for my whole life. As a person brought up in church world I had been forced to do and believe so much of what everyone else wanted me to believe. I found a freedom at LIDE. It's okay that I don't pray. It's okay that I have trust issues with God. It's okay that I've made some stupid and insane decisions in my life. All that matters is that I am as honestly, deeply and passionately exactly who I am. I've never felt so loved and accepted for EXACTLY who I am. If you want to see a whole new way to just BE with God, check out Life in Deep Ellum.

My husband and I had been looking for a church for quite a while when we came across Life in Deep Ellum. The very first week, I felt like I had made more connections than I had in the previous year at the other church we had been attending. Our relationships here are definitely one of the biggest things that drew us here.
If I were to characterize LIDE as one thing, I would call it a place for healing. And specifically, I'd say a place to heal for people who have been burned by "church" in the past. If you aren't a really "churchy" person, this is a great place to check out. It is un-churchy without compromising on scripture. They still hold a very literal view of scripture and don't try to make it say something else just because it is easier to hear. -
