Their beer selection just gets better and better.
I stopped in to pick up a birthday gift (an '05 Pinotage) and quickly found myself chatting with their beer ninja next to the fridges.
They may need to reno this store soon, as space is running out with all the product.
They are making a noticeable effort in sourcing the raddest spirits, brews, and vinos out there.
This is heaven to me!
I left with a four pack of Brew Dog Punk IPA along with my prezzy.

Why bother even browsing when you can walk up to the associate, tell them your budget and have an expert guide you through the countless bottles looking for something that you deem "interesting."
I was blown away by the service we received. With a $200 budget in mind to spend on an assorted case of wine to give as a wedding gift, we were treated to an hour of selecting and learning. The associate's precision on choosing interesting, regionally diverse and value price pointed varietals left me awestruck.
When you purchase a case (or more as it ended up being for us) you receive 10% off. But the real added cherry? He asked if we liked scotch and treated us to a taste of a $450 bottle of sherried spirit, from a bottle of a now defunct distillery, one of 500 or so bottles in the world. Amazing! Definitely going back for one of their scotch tastings. -

I needed to pick up some birthday wine, so I swung by Liberty one day. I don't know that much about wine either, but the staff were friendly enough to help me out, explaining which wines went better with which foods. One of the guys asked me what we were planning on eating that night, and also what my approximate budget was. It didn't take long at all, he helped me stick within my budget, and the wine ended up tasting great that night! Thanks, Liberty Wine Merchants!

My friends and I had a party and we needed some more wine. So we hopped out to Liberty and ended up buying so much! The variety is vast and it's a specialty shop so you'll find the labels and brands the regular LQ won't carry. Major wine countries, BC and other regions are represented in reds, whites and ports. They have a huge selection, so the knowledgeable staff is on hand to help you out with recommendations, budget etc.

Great selection and high prices (blame BC taxes, not Liberty on the latter)... A very good wine store; one of Vancouver's best!

History
Established in 1986
Liberty Wine Merchants is the largest chain of private wine retailers in Western Canada. Liberty has six wine locations in Metro Vancouver as well as its original site in Point Roberts, Washington.
Meet the Manager: Igal A.
Igal joined the Liberty team in 2006. Born in Versailles, France (close to the Marie-Antoinette Vineyard), Igal grew up in Paris and graduated from University Paris 10 with a Law degree, specializing in intellectual property law and music copyright. He has lived in Spain, Israel and Quebec, where he received his Service Aux Jeunes Entrepreneurs Business Management Diploma (Montreal) and his Wine & Spirits Diploma with Honours from École Hôtelière des Laurentides (Ste-Adèle).
His penchant for wine began when he first tasted wine at the tender age of four. He continues to be active in the wine industry as a wine instructor, wine tour guide, contributing wine columnist and a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers.
Igal speaks fluent English, French, Spanish and Hebrew, and practices to improve his German, Italian and Farsi.
