I love free concerts. During the summer, I try to attend as many as possible. Of all the free concert venues, this is my favorite. Great lineup, right next to light rail / Old Town Pasadena and in a setting that facilitates community. Truly, there's nothing quite like having a pick nick in the grass area listening to a live band. While they technically don't allow BYOB, they pretty much look the other way if you aren't blatant about it.

The new season starts in June. Here's the direct link: http://www.levittpavil...

I've attended several shows at the Levitt and I've loved every one of them!   This is a great outdoor venue and the performers and musicians are some of the best in the world!  To top it off, the shows are FREE!!  Come on!  There is no downside:)

What is there to NOT like about the Levitt Pavilion - ESPECIALLY when it comes to summer time?  Free concerts in the park with great bands and musicians. Honestly...nothing to complain about! You can usually find seating fairly easily (just bring your lil blanket or chairs) since the park is rather big. Bring your lil picnic basket and you're good to go.

The only time I had a really hard time finding seating or anywhere to STAND even was the Poncho Sanchez concert! m'Goodness! I mean, our bad for coming right on time (last minute decision), but whoa!  For some of the bigger events, they'll even have some food trucks, etc.

A great free thing to do with your friends ... dance a little, sing with your friends, pull out a blanket and just enjoy good company.

I recently came here to watch Brian McKnight and loved the venue. It's like a mini Hollywood Bowl! Great location... just a tick outside of Old Town, though some may still consider it Old Town Pasadena. Very clean... even when it's outdoors and a very romantic setting... maybe it was because we got Brian McKnight doing all his old school jams that reminded me of the high school dances when I was a bit younger.

I'm reading up on all the other reviews and they all mention that it's free?! I had to go through Groupon to get tickets to this show! It's alright though, I think it was put on for a good cause... plus it was relatively cheap for a concert.

The sound system is pretty amazing. Sounds crystal clear. Great show!

Wow, just wow. 5 stars and for good reason to.  I'm sure I don't need to mention the summer concert series considering the raving reviews already posted cover the basics, but just to confirm they are fantastic.

The weather Saturday night was perfect, the food truck (Hungry Nomad) was excellent and the apple and grape "juice" supplied by my lovely friend was great too. Good company is Important, if you want to cross off a summer concert off your things to do this summer, go for it here!

Couldn't believe it was free, I'd feel horrible for not donating to such an amazing concert series!

And it's in old town so there is always something to do in between , before or after the show, what's not to love? Did I mention go with go with good company because my friends really made the night for me. :)

This place truly is a treasure, mini hollywood bowl more like the starlight bowl in Burbank though!

This place has the makings of an awesome summer night:
Awesome music, outdoors, summer breeze, food trucks, green grass, picnic blankets, an overwhelming sense of community, relaxation, and overall positive vibes...and all this for free!

Especially good for the eclectic music goers, but for those with pickier ears, they've got a schedule posted, which includes sample music.

Free summer concert series is what's up in Old Town Pasadena!

An annual event, the LP brings free concerts to the community. You can't get anything better and you'll leave feeling like you gained a lot. Concerts are held every Wednesday through Sunday throughout the summer. Bring a blanket, pack a light dinner and enjoy the sights and sounds that they have to offer you at the park. As a community we have been privileged to hear from some amazing artists. Can't wait for this summer's line up!

Don't forget to donate and support the performing arts!

The summer series is one of So Cal's lesser known treasures.  The Levitt puts on the largest free concert series in the country.  It's a great place to picnic and is family-friendly.

It's a great place to picnic and lounge.  Be sure to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs.  Leave the alcohol at home because it's not allowed.

The acts are an eclectic mix of performers.  Last year we saw Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs and have become avid fans.

Last night we saw a Celtic band.  Surprisingly, the kids loved it.  It's great to expand their minds and expose them to different cultures, music and art.

I highly recommend spending some of  your summer evenings here.  We're going to go back several times this summer.

What an awesome concept -- free outdoor concerts in the summertime for everyone in the community.  Thanks to the Levitt Family for having the vision to establish such a much-needed service, and to the local businesses and foundations that provide the financial support to keep it going.  What an incredible gift to give to the people of Pasadena.
    THANK YOU, Levitt!

Great place to hang out and picnic and chill out to listen to just good music, simple spot that gets crowded but in a good way. Great music selections as well and for free.

Enough parking across the street in a private lot, just cross the street and plant your blanket or chair and enjoy it all...

Check it out for yourself in the summer time... Enjoy

I LOVE the free concerts in the park at Levitt Pavilion!

Tonight, I went to see Ryan Bingham and the show was starting at 8:00. I work right up the street, and my last appointment ended at 7:45, so I walked over and fully expected that I'd have to sit way in the back of the lawn and not be able to see very well, and prepared myself for disappointment. But I found a perfect spot right in front of the stage (5 feet away or so, front and center? seriously)!

The free concert series is an incredibly valuable public service, particularly in challenging economic times. Families can go out on Wednesday nights and enjoy kid-friendly performances! The concerts are on several times a week. There's an interesting selection of world music and artists from many different genres of music, and with 50 concerts per summer, the chances are good that you'll find something you like.

Bring a blanket and a picnic! Bring babies, bring grandmas! They say you're not allowed to have alcohol though... so bring a paper bag.

Zooming in with a crying baby, I maneuvered parking, a kosher hot dog, and nice park bench seat within 15 minutes. Pasadena is a place of suburban delights, so being in a park with a amphitheater was a nice treat. Not sure how the city can afford to pay all these people... I mean, old town & property is pricey, but whoa!

The park isn't as full as say, San Diego Pride during a Kathy Griffin show, but there was a nice crowd to see Smadar. Her musicians came onto the stage, sending my mind back to a time when rhythms and melodies were more than a way to the top 100. The production value of the event was excellent. My biggest issue is that people were moving about, talking, etc. Have we lost respect for our artists?

One more thing to note is the bathrooms. Don't use them, unless you want to catch a fatal disease.

    Simply AMAZING!

Free concert at the park! It's so freakin' FUN!

Just came from there to see NonStopBhangra...

A collective from San Francisco that performs Indian folk dance and routines infused with reggae, funk, hip-hop and electronica.
They were so fun and inspiring to watch! Very festive!

They, the dancers started with a tradition Indian dance routine. So cool! Then a female singer sang her heart out with a nostalgic traditional song.

After that, they stopped and got the crowd involved for a few... By the way, there were probably 1200 happy souls in the crowd. The dancers taught the crowd a few dance moves and most of us danced with them. 95% of the crowd pleasingly danced and participated...

After we made a fool of ourselves... 2 guys came out and started rapping over Indian hip-hop/ dub/ electronica. Think... a very energetic "Thievery Corp." LIVE! One guy even raps... ragga style! Brah... brah...brah... stick up! Rasta-far-ight! Lol!

This kind of performances went on til the end of the show. I'm so glad I went!

Thank you Levitt Pavilion for having this! And thank you KCRW for sponsoring the event!

Guys, check out their web-site for full schedule and GO! You'll definitely have a great time.

By the way, we came 30 minutes early... brought my lawn blanket, a small pillow for my booty to seat on, a friend, and our "to go" foodies... Bam!!! Instant good time!!!

Oh, there's covered parking across the street. $5... not bad for a free event. The park had 1 food vendor too just in case you forgot to bring food.

Pasadena is the bomb!  Where else can you see amazing musicians (primarily from overseas) for free in a mini-Hollywood Bowl style setting?!

Situated on the outskirts of Old Town, Levitt Pavilion offers free concerts throughout the summer on Wed-Sun.  It's a wonderful, family friendly environment where people bring their blankets, picnic baskets, and chairs and enjoy good music under the stars.

Was a regular here last year and last night saw Los Pinguos from Argentina, who were simply superb.  Hundreds of people dancing, laughing, enjoying the good times.

Coupled with the free movies and other concerts in Old Town (One Colorado Plaza), then Pasadena is the place to beat for good cultural entertainment in LA.  And I did I mention that it's free? :)

Great spot to sit out under the stars and hear some good music.  You have to love the fact that the concerts are free too! The only reason for not giving it five stars is that at times the acts are somewhat outside of my musical taste, but again that is a matter of taste.  Could easily see why folks would give it five stars!  Definitely a Pasadena treasure!

Quality FREE (donations) CONCERTS!!! Great artists! I have been going to these summer concerts for 4 seasons now. Only disappointed once and it was probably just not my taste in Jazz. I mainly go on Sundays for the Jazz but have been on Friday and Saturday as well. Bring a picnic snack/dinner, beverage of choice and a blanket or lawn chair. There are some bench seats and a small dance floor. The stage is beautiful, like a mini Hollywood Bowl. Concerts are June-August. I wish it was year round! This is the best local Free concert venue by far!!! They pass around a donation hat/basket which supports this music program.

The city of Pasadena simply continues to develop and develop, but it hasn't lost any of its quaint charm.  The Levitt Pavilion is nestled just north of the hustle and bustle of Colorado Blvd (the heart of Old Town Pasadena), across the street from the Armory Center, and it features live music during the summer Wednesday thru Sunday.  What a treat?!  Plus, it's free.  Bring a blank or some lawn chairs and enjoy a warm summer evening in Pasadena.  Feeling groovy, then get up and dance!  Performances range from jazz, blues, salsa, big band, classical, hip hop, and much more.  You should check it out at least once!

Absolutely the best music value in the area.

The acts are all top-notch, the crowd is respectful, and the mood is awesome. I like to become "enhanced" in my car and walk over to the Pavilion to stretch out and let the amazing music permeate my soul. It's helped foster my openness to new kinds of music and will definitely be leading to some music purchases.

FABULOUS fun way to spend an evening!! Free parking right across the street for the first 90 minutes. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, unless you come early and take advantage of the seats that are provided. It's better is you have seats fairly low to the ground, but it's not essential. Any lawn chair will work. Bring your own food and beverage because they don't really sell much. The music is excellent, the acoustics are outstanding, the crowd isn't overwhelming at all, and it's FREE!! I was glad that they walked around with a basket for donations because it was definitely worth it. But what an amazing neighborhood treasure!

There's no doubt that The Levitt Pavilion is one of the best kept secrets in the southland! As a jazz fan there are few things as sweet as listening to the musical stylings of world class acts such as the Billy Mitchell Band or Michael Sessions Group on Sunday evenings, under the stars in a beautiful setting for FREE! Other evenings also offer great acts featuring Latin, Dance and World music, but I love Sundays! The crowd is as mellow as the music and the cool summer breezes that blow lightly through the park around dusk is made to order after a hot summer day. I've been attending these concerts for the last five years now and I would highly recommend them for dates, reconnecting with friends or family gatherings. And don't forget your picnic baskets!

Great way to spend a summer evening.  Concerts in Memorial Park from Wednesday through Sunday all summer.  Great music; different genres; all free of charge.  Just grab a picnic and a blanket.   The City doesn't pay for the concerts; the Friends of the Levitt Pavilion do.   The season kicks off on Fathers' Day, starting at 1:00 PM as part of Make Music Pasadena.  It just keeps getting better each year.  Oh, and the kids' programs are just the best!
