Came to this local microbrewery twice during my Ottawa stay and had a great time on each visit.  Airy atmosphere and friendly waitresses who speak English if you're not a Francophone like me.  Though I'm not a beer drinker, was recommended the ESB 1821 which was light and not terribly hoppy.

Their smoked meat sandwich was piled decently high with soft white bread, with a not-so-overwhelming portion of house salad and deliciously tangy mustardy dressing.  Their onion soup was more on the sweet than savoury side but still refreshing -- small portion for the price of the soup though.

They have a bunch of rotating menus covering beer, food specials and desserts, so don't be shy about asking about the current flavours of the month.  Give the seasonal tarte tatin and creme brulee a go for a nice finish to the meal.

BDT is a pretty neat little microbrewery until you realize there is another level in the basement that makes it a very large space.

I was recommended this place by a friend who told me they brewed their own beer and had a large sample platter.  Yup good call, I'll want to check this place out for sure.

I've been by a few times now and I must admit that I am somewhat disappointed in the beers they brew here.  The sample platter consists of a dozen samples of the beers they have brewed that month.  I love the concept and idea and even the execution but I find that half the sampler is ok, a few I like and a few I don't like.  The part that sucks is that the beers that you may like one visit might be gone the next making it hard to pinpoint something you like.

I've tried the burger and smoked meat poutine here and the burger isn't bad but I did like the smoked meat poutine.  I've tried the mussels and chips here as well and I was not a fan of that.  I found my mussels cold but the fries were solid.

If you haven't been come experience it once.  You may like more beers in the sample more than I do and of course try a poutine :)

I've eaten there a number of times in the past few years. The staff is very welcoming and bilingual. I spoke a few times with Denis who was working front of house (learned later he's one of the owners).

The beer selection is really good and their brewmaster has a really nice balance between flavouring their seasonal beers while still balancing a level of "hoppy" beer taste.

The location is exceptional with a museum type twist as the building itself was a brewery many years ago. Althought the food was average the first time I went they replaced the chef 2 years ago and the food is now exceptional for the price point and type of restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this place!

********Four starts for ambiance, beer and service.***************
********Three stars for the food and wine.*************************

A pleasant surprise in downtown Hull.  This microbrewery/restaurant/beer museum has a great vibe and a wide selection of brews.

The food it definitely a cut above your run of the mill pub grub.  We tried the chic poutine (topped with smoked and gouda), the bison tartar, and the three piggies burger (pork burger topped with bacon and pancetta).  The burger was a hit!  The bison tartar was bland but I'll give them props for having such a unique item on the menu.  The poutine was large and filling but was a bit of a disappointment taste wise.

The beer selection is extensive.  The wine list is limited and didn't have many interesting options by the glass.

The service was good.  Our server was efficient and provided and service in both English and French.

For beer lovers, it's definitely worth checking out.

I would argue that this place is definitely worth the short trek into Hull from Ottawa for some decent food but best of all a unique experience that you don't really get at many Ottawa pubs.

Firstly the patio here is perfect.  It's located on a very small and quiet waterway and gets sun late into the evening.

If you're unable to get a seat in the restaurant you should be able to find somewhere to sit in the bar area.  My one beef with the place is that the bar seating is awkwardly arranged for for five of us we were all staring at another table and they couldn't arrange any high tables for even two groups of us to sit at which sort of made the night interesting.

The server was good and fluently bilingual.  She did however mess up one of our orders by bringing us an entrée salad instead of just a side.  She was pleasant when the error was pointed out but we could see her walk away and looked very upset (either at us or the kitchen for the error).

The fact that you can order a keg and have it connected to your table with a tap and that you can thirst on several different local beers makes up for any shortcomings I found this place to have.

I really enjoyed the food and there was plenty of it.  They gave me mounds of fries with my burger which was cooked just to my liking.

The parking situation is rough because of their awkward waterfront location but if you can manage parking and a seat then you're in for a really good night here.

We just went here for dinner tonight, and it was fabulous.  The beer was great--and there was a lot of it--and the food was good, too.  We all ordered the specials.  Two bison filets with mashed potatoes and a salmon filet with risotto.  Everything was great except the risotto, which was a little bland.  We also ordered a pint, a half pint, and I ordered a round of samplers.  12 3 oz. samplers.  It was delicious, I was drinking a ton, and everything about it was great.  My French is worse than bad, but they were very accommodating.  The service was good and prompt, as well.

The only thing we really had trouble with (other than the bland risotto) was the parking.  It was a nightmare, and on a Tuesday night, no less.  I can't imagine what it would be like on a weekend.  Given how much I enjoyed the beer, though, I don't think that deserves only 4 stars.

Very nice design, their in house beers are tasty (I had two).

The ribs were good, not great but nothing to complain about.

The atmosphere and background music is very enjoyable.

This microbrewery is located in the old Hull waterworks building (which means it has a great patio right by the water) and I think this is really just the cherry on top of what is already delicious food and great beer.

Speaking of which the selection and quality of food is fantastic (and the portions are gigantic). I came here with a group of about 15 people and everyone loved their food, which ranged from fish and chips, mussels, and Cajun chicken sandwiches to pesto baguette sandwiches and gourmet poutine.

The beer was also great. There were several micro brews and it was possible to get a taster of 6 of them (ranging from a dark to light beer) for a super reasonable price. You can actually walk around and view where the beer is made as well, and get an explanation from your server.

The only downside was that the service was a bit iffy - our waiter was great (and wonderfully bilingual) up until he made a comment in passing about someone at our table not tipping him enough. Also be aware you will have to practice your francais - the menu is all in french.

Happiness is finding not just a decent place to eat in the guvermint district of Hull, but finding one with ambience and one that brews its own beer.  The Rauchbier they brew is particularly enjoyable, as is their merguez on a pita.  Good fries and decent service.  Located by the creek/canal on Montcalm, this place is a little out of the way to some, but that is also what makes the visit there all the more worthwhile.

Horrible restaurant. My girlfriend and I went a few times in the summer for the patio, and the food was average and inconsistent at best, but we decided to give it another shot last night, thinking maybe they had ironed out all the kinks associated with a new establishment.

Well, it didn't take long for our answer. We waited over a half hour for our burgers. The fries were stale and hard. The burger was the driest I've had in town. The bun: untoasted, stale bland Durivage issue from the supermarket. Tiny plastic container of mayo.

I ask the waiter for ketchup. He comes back with a plastic bottle, you know the kind that stand upside down. Only after he is gone do I pick it up to put some on my fries. Light as a feather. Empty. The brilliant waiter brought me an empty bottle. I had to track somebody else down to get me another bottle.

Our waitress meantime is nowhere to be find, during our 30-minute wait and even after, over the course of our forgettable meal, no service available for us to order another beer.

It should be noted that this place has a very, very small menu, at very, very big prices. $15, for our burger and fries, thank you very much. With such a small menu, one would expect good quality. Faux sophistication with leather menus and craft beers. The beer: nothing new under the sun. I'll take a Fin du Monde any day of the week over these guys' triple.

Never stepping back in this joint again. I get much better value at Twist down the street, and they have micro-brews.
