My son just inherited an older Ford Explorer that had been sitting in a garage for about 9 months. Le took in the car, checked all the fluids, changed the thermostat and replaced the coolant, and took extra special care in starting it (making sure there was oil in the engine). Fantastic service and a fantastic price.
Like everyone says, finding a good mechanic you can trust is a challenge, I am pleased to have found Le, and I will definitely return to his shop as I need more work.

After being here once I can say that reviews mentioned out here about this guy are really genuine and he seems to be very honest person. I had my front brake pads worn out and got an estimate of around 175$ ( for 1998 mazda protege). Took my car to Lee and he gave an quote of 160$. It wasnt for mere difference of 15$ that I decided to give my car to him but his honesty and taking time to show and explain things to be was what made me feel comfortable to give my car to him. Unlike other auto repair shops, Le's does most of the work himself . Besides him der is one more mechanic who is also really good. While my car was first opened and checked by thta other mechanic, he didnt proceed until Le came and checked it himself.
Work done was also with perfection and infact my old mechanic( in Santa Barbara where I am orginally from) too had a look at it and was quite impressed by his work.
All in all, I think I would give him 5 stars for his work , honesty and price
Thanks, -

I recommend Le's Auto Service.. Le is very knowledgeable and honest. I have sent two friends over there with rather good results (one was an impossible job on an old 87 Nissan pathfinder - we may have to turn that one in at the next smog test)..
Great job on the 2005 Honda Civic Wheel bearings - he worked hard to save me money.. God Bless him!

I don't always write reviews for auto services, but when I do, it's for services that blew me away. My front breaks were on their last breath. Called Le to see if he can do the pads and rotors that same day - Le said "no problem, come over" and gave me a VERY reasonable quote. I arrived 30 min later and Le was very upfront with time estimates "It will take at least 2.5 hours because I have to order parts". I asked if I can come back at 3pm instead. "No problem". Exactly at 3pm Le was waiting, pulled up my car and was done with the entire thing in about 40 minutes. Done and done. A+ service. (Car is 2008 Lexus IS250)

I have a 2004 Ford and I needed a smog and brake job. Mr. L did the brake job for about half of what a dealership quoted me. The work was done right and on time with a reasonable cost. My Smog check was a different story... The Smog check I needed was a special type that Mr. Le could not accomplish. I was surprised when I came to pick up my car and was told that he did not do that type of smog check... My bad luck? No. Mr. Le took my car to another shop, so that when I picked up my car, it was complete. A bonus was that Mr. Le did not give me a list of a thousand and one things that needed work... he only mentioned my tires were worn, (Which I knew) and two other minor discrepancies. Excellent person to do business with.

We were going on a road trip, and our Jeep desperately needed an oil change & alignment. Le's doesn't do alignment's, but was willing to do the oil change, take the car over to get the alignment done, bring it back, and then just charge us for the whole thing. Sweet!
Mr Le was very polite, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Very happy with the work; would definitely take a car back here again. -

Recently, I needed to take my Tahoe in to fix a coolant leak. It was a Sunday, so I spent some time searching for an Auto Repair close to my office. I found Le's as one that received all 5 star reviews on Yelp so I decided I would try calling in the next morning to see if he could fit me in the schedule.
Fast forward to Monday morning, and I called the shop and was talking to Mr. Le himself. He said bring the car in no problem, and he would help me out.
Once I arrived, I told him of the great reviews on Yelp, and how it seems (at least from the reviews) that he is one of the last honest mechanics. He chuckled, but moved straight to my car and had a look. He told me the water pump and thermostat had to be replaced, and while he went to get an estimate, I checked online to see the approximate price for myself. What do you know? He gave me an estimate that was lower than I found.
All repairs were done on time and at a great price, and after more than a week since the repairs, nothing has leaked. Of course, that's what we expect, but its always good to write a review after you know the problem is fixed.
At Le's, you won't find an elaborately designed waiting room, and you won't get your car back detailed. However, I would rather depend on great repair work at a great price, and I can get my car washed myself. Since there really isn't a place to wait for your car to be finished, I just walked up the street to 7/11 (on Mary/Evelyn) and got a coffee and waited for my ride.
So, if you want a fair price and an honest mechanic, Le's Auto is the place to go. -

I brought our '99 Suzuki Esteem to Mr. Le based on all the great feedback here on Yelp, and I'm here to tell you it's one of the best decisions I've made. Mr. Le is a bonified professional. And an honest one to boot. Unlike most of the big shops out there that price gouge you to death, Mr. Le was fair and honest with EVERY aspect of the job required.
The story begins with the 'Zuki's front brakes grinding to the metal (due to a certain driver in my household not being able to recognize the warning signs of worn brakes). Normally I would take my vehicles out to my family's mechanic in Salinas, but I had this odd feeling that it wouldn't have been a safe trip. I had prepared myself for a higher number than what our Salinas mechanic quoted for front pads and rotors + labor. Instead I was stunned when Mr. Le dropped a number 27% LOWER for the same job! Of course, I left the ride with Mr. Le. Come the next day, Mr. Le advised me that he had discovered a major issue and he asked me to roll by. He discovered that the bearings and hub assembly on the driver's side were pretty much shot and causing a dangerous amount of play on the wheel itself. Basically my fiancee was driving the car with that wheel pretty much ready to fly off with the next big bump/pothole/rock in the road! Apparently we've been dodging fate as this must have been an issue for some time now, and NOBODY prior to Mr. Le has EVER bothered to point it out in any way!! Not Firestone, not Midas, and not even my family mechanic in Salinas! It was an unexpected issue, but a dangerous one that needed attention. Mr. Le kept the extra cost reasonable and within my budget as much as possible. I know it because he showed me HIS part receipts. Now tell me, what mechanic do you know that would do that? Any other place would have raped me for those parts, especially if they came from a dealer exclusively (which the hub assembly did, unfortunately). Instead Mr. Le kept my best interest in mind instead of his bottom line.
When we got the car back everything was tip-top! The car rides quieter thanks to the new bearings and hub assembly, and the brake job is perfect with no squealing whatsoever. I'm amazed that a major issue such as a loose hub assembly or shot bearings could possibly be overlooked by other shops! Mr. Le diagnosed and killed that issue within 2 days. And he kept it within honest and reasonable numbers. I learned two valuable lessons here: 1) Keep a much better eye on my fiancee's vehicle status (LOL) and, 2) Stop going to our old mechanic in Salinas! I would recommend Le's Auto Repair in a heartbeat!! Thank You, Mr. Le!! -

I had one of the most wonderful experiences going to an autoshop today. Mr. Le was so nice and helpful. I have called him last week and on the phone, he sounded really busy and told me to come in early in the morning if I want my car to get looked at. My car's door's been making a cracking sound and I was due for a routine maintenance. So today, I got up early and took my car into his shop. Despite the heavy workload he had planned for today, he still took my car in seeing that I got their so early (it was 9:00am on a saturday).
Then it took him and his associates less than 15-20min to check the tires, the break, change oil and fix my car door. They did everything quickly and charged me a very reasonable price. I am glad that I have found a reliable mechanic to go to for my car needs so close to my house! -

Le's Auto Repair is fantastic!
My great experience at Le's started when they were not able to fix my problem. That's right, I was hearing a strange noise when making sharp turns at low speed and Mr. Le and his team initially replaced the steering tie rods, which didn't fix the problem.
Mr. Le was then willing to take another look at the car, free of charge. He figured out the entire rack and pinion needed to be replaced. Rather than just order an expensive dealer part, Mr. Le recommended I look for a rebuilt part that was cheaper and offered to install the part free of charge when I was able to find it.
I now have the part and am having Le's install it tomorrow. I've been to many, many car repair shops and rarely have found one that is willing to guarantee their work the way Le's does! -

I found Mr. Le on Yelp. I went to see him because my car was smoking up and I was not sure why. I left my car there, I gave him a phone call to check up on my car status, he told me it was the radiator hose, and then told me that he was able to replace it and that it will be done by the end of day.
The pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and he was able to turn around parts really fast. He even walked through what he did and showed me how it happened and what was wrong to begin with. He was very sweet and nice. I will definitely be using Mr. Le for all of my car issues from now on. -

VERY HONEST, COURTEOUS & PREFESSIONAL!!! I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4. I had oil changed from Jiffy Lube and started noticing oil leak. Took it back to Jiffy and they said it is steering fluid (wrong!) Took to yet another shop and they said it was oil pump and that I should take to the dealer for repair. I looked up for reputable shop and came across Le's Auto Repir with high marks and as such tried 'em. Well, nothing was wrong and no oil leaks. The Jiffy's had done sloppy job and oil was over flowing in the bottom plate and dripping from there. Mr. Le cleaned the plate pouring out excess oil. Checked for oil leaks and called me back with his verdict - NO PROBLEMS FOUND and no cost!!! Well, I tipped him for his effort as it was worth it.... I would take my vehicles to him from now on. He is a honest man and knows his business.

This guy is awesome!
I've been going to this guy since 2001 and he has yet to rip me off or screw me, which is more than I can say for almost every other mechanic I've been to.
Le is the owner of the shop and gives you a fair price, does not unnecessarily change parts or add on service for no reason. Definitely a great mechanic. -

Mr. Le (one 'e') is simply THE BEST. I guess that's why the State of California gives him so much official business; not to mention Smog Only, and all the cops that come here.
Incredibly fair pricing - jeez, talk about competitive! Do be careful when you drive in to see the fabulous Le - there are so many folks coming to see him and only so much space! -

my old mechanic Scott used to be in this same shop over 10 years ago. I was bummed when I rolled up one day to find Scott gone and Mr Le had taken over but I am not anymore. Mr Le is awesome. I've brought him some CLUNKERS and he always gives me a great rate and even shows you the parts he pulled out of your car. I have a decent car now (a Lexus) and Mr Le often can tell you about the same part from Toyota at a much lower cost...Mr Le is the best.

I brought my 2001 Volvo V70 X/C to Mr. Le based on the recommendation of my girlfriend.
I had just done some work on the brakes and ordered some parts online that of course didn't fit. The brakes were a bit spongy.
Mr. Le recommended a full replacement of the rotors and a bleeding of the system, which is what I had planned anyways, but had the wrong parts. He gave me a reasonable estimate on parts and labor and it was worth it to go ahead rather than deal with it myself.
I also asked Mr. Le to look at an oil leak and he found and even showed me a leak coming out of the timing belt cover.
I was going to replace the timing belt anyways and asked him if he could also use the kit I bought and just charge me the labor. He asked if I also had the new water pump too. I told him I wasn't planning on changing that but he recommended I do that also since if it went out later, I'd be paying for the labor twice. Made sense and the pump was cheap enough.
The car is still with Mr. Le due to the fact that as they get into it, it may need only the crank seals changed (not expensive) or the cam seals (very expensive-6 hours labor).
Mr. Le explained everything to me and even took the time to show me it on my car. Maybe it's because he knew I worked on my car myself but I think based on the other reviews, he does this with everyone.
He's very transparent and I don't get the sense that he's trying to pull a fast one with any of his customers.
I'll update this later when the work is done.
UPDATE:
Work was completed by Mr. Le. Didn't need the expensive valve or engine seals replaced. He could have told me anyways, I wouldn't have been able to know the difference. He even took me under the car to show me the source of the leaks.
Final tally: Front brake pads and rotors, timing belt and water pump, fan belt, PCV hoses. Brakes work great. Timing belt fine and oil leak fixed on top. Great work at reasonable price. Probably half what Volvo dealer would charge.
Oil cooler is leaking and Mr. Le said it would be $200-$300 since the unit needed to be replaced entirely. Said to drive it and see if I could live with the few drips of oil.
Very honest and cost conscious. Doesn't try to sell you on work unless you really want it or it's unsafe to drive without the fix.
Highly recommended. -

I had taken my honda to get the front brakes fixed - these guys did a diagnostic for free and gave me options to go about it - I bought the parts separately from Honda Dealership and took it to them to get it fixed. They literally did it for half the price, while being very courteous and fast. Le is an honest man and loves what he does.

I can't speak about his mechanical expertise, however I had a great experience getting my car smogged. I called and got a quote on how much it would cost. When I arrived I waited two minutes for my car to get smogged. It passed with flying colors, I expected it to pass, and cost me $50 total. If you need your car smogged I suggest going here.

Le is an honest, competent and compassionate human being in the auto repair business! He made several trips to rescue me and my car after my husband's very recent heart attack. After getting an estimate of over $2000 to perform "necessary" repairs to my car's brake system and disable a malfunctioning alarm system, Le made a thorough inspection of all the 'must do" repairs areas, declared my vehicle safe and sound, and pulled out the whole system, handing me the wires in less than 24 hours. The rate was astonishingly reasonable. I would trust him with my first born!
