When I go to Leo's I feel like a kid in a candy store and I love that the staff working there don't begrudge me that.  They patiently answer all my questions and aren't too cool to refer to each other's expertise if they don't know the answer.

My husband is an old school "film" user and Leo's is a valuable resource.  They also don't look down on you if you are sentimental about continuing to use your ancient gear.

They have saved us money by allowing us to take the new camera's out from behind the glass and actually feel the heft, width ectera.  It helped us make some purchase decisions that are impossible when sitting in front of your laptop looking at new models.

Tip: If you want to know ANYthing about Canon's go to Leo's!  Their prices overall are very reasonable also.

Leo's is a Vancouver institution.  At one point they had the largest inventory of used (film) camera equipment in Western Canada.  Kinda sad to see film go almost to the way of the dinosaur, but there always will be a market for it.  I only know one guy there now and we chat when I go visit to peek around.

The staff there are extremely knowledgeable on a wide variety of equipment.

Old school people like myself go there because I like to collect. I am no longer a "user", and if you're a photographer, you know what I'm talking about.

I have a passion for precision German optics, and if it's West German, that's even better!

Earlier today I trundled over to Leo's Camera Supply in need of some advice with regard to a relatives old Konika that i've recently embezzled and attempted to use as my own.

The guy helping me was supremely knowledgeable considering I walked into the shop with a rarely still in use camera from the 70's.

He took the camera apart for me offering advice on filters and lenses as well as showing me how to load new film and batteries. Overall, I walked out of the shop having dropped a measly $25, and with tons of critical information on how to use my 'new' camera!

I even got some good advice on film that was on sale. Great shop!

I like Leo's. The staff are really knowledgeable. Some of them remind me of SNL's "Nick Burns. Your Company's Computer Guy" http://dumpalink.com/v...

A few years ago I was purchasing a $2700 lens and was around 37¢ short. The guy waited for me to run to the bank machine to make up the difference! (I had exceeded my daily interac withdrawal limit.) No big deal, but little things like that make a difference.

Their selection of lighting isn't as large as other retailers in the city but their camera gear is probably the best in town.

Just to flesh out the other review for Leo's Camera Supply, on Granville.

I've come back here repeatedly because of the knowledgeable and polite service that I receive. The prices are moderate and the selection is much more varied than Blacks, Future Shop and London Drugs.

Of course, Leo's is a specialty camera and film supply store. They have crazy amounts of vintage cameras, new and interesting gear and other random things you can't find anywhere else.  I have bought several lenses, lens bags and spare batteries through them and have consistently positive experiences.

Don't know much about the camera world but looked like they have a pretty good selection of cameras and such.  I only stopped in to pick up some light gels and the experience was pretty good.  Customer service fine, friendly and fun!

These days it is hard to justify buying photographic equipment from a store in Canada. When you can buy from Ebay and shops like Adorama and B&H for much reduced prices it is hard to justify the costs. One thing you don't get from an online store though is the ability to try out equipment hands on or have a knowledable salesperson to anser queries as they come to mind. The salesman I dealt with seemed more than happy to let me try out a range of lenses and discuss the pros and cons. Never did I feel like he wanted me to hurry up and buy and he had good impartial advice to impart.

If you really need a Leica lens and just can't wait for a trip to LA or NY, Leo's is the only shop in town that carry a wide selection of Leica products, both new and used. They have allot of other cameras also and a good prosumer video camera selection for the budding movie makers out there.
