Came here for dinner on a tuesday..the place was fairly empty and the service was really friendly..we decided on the

Cheeseburger Hoagie $5.95: omg is this amazing!!! the bun is warm and moist and the hoagie taste just like a cheeseburger!! yum!! and the patty was bigger than the bun...a + in my book
Super Italian Hoagie $6.45: yup, lots of different meets in this sandwich...not my cup of tea but still made well, this place has average portions but their hoagies are made extremely well

they also have a condiment bar which i personally don't think goes well with the hoagie (pickled beets, pickled lettuce, pickled jalapenos etc). but i really don't have much experience w/hoagies. the restaurant is also clean and super cute, with meaningful quotes decorating the walls

I have never liked sandwiches much.  I am a jalapeno pepper, Chinese Five Spice, Hoisin Sauce kind of girl....

And yet since I had a pastrami sub with zuchinni fries from Lee's, I have been craving it like a maniac!

Everything here was amazing, from their house-made pickled cucumbers and carrots (yum!) to their delicately crispy-fried zuchinni fries (that had NO fat dripping off them), Lee's is the real deal.

Freshly made to order, prepare to wait a few minutes... and make sure you bring cash.

Caution: if you're on a tight budget I would recommend NOT EVEN TRYING LEE's.  BECAUSE YOU WILL WANT TO COME BACK EVERY DAY.

I've been coming here for at least 10 years. This place is nice and simple. For breakfast I get the power protein plate which has egg whites, avocado, tomatoe slices and chicken breast. For lunch I always get the chicken hoagi with avocado. I've ordered trays of these hoagies for parties and they're always a hit! I can't comment on anything else but they have to be good as well. There's a lot more on the menu but I'm one of those who orders the same thing. Cheers!

Sometimes it's not all about the food.  Don't get me wrong,  Lee's cooks up some mean chicken.  It's marinated, seasoned just right and grilled with a nice char on the outside(I mean that in a good way). What I love about Lee's is the personal service.  I've gone there about 6 times and the owner (Lee I presume) knows my name and usual order.  To date I've only had the breakfast and I will definitely try the lunch sometime soon.

I love this place and can keep it simple.  I have been coming here 15+ years and get one thing - a chicken hoagie and orange juice.  I can't recall getting anything else.   The hoagie is freshly cooked on the Bque and to die for.   They have an ample supply of pickled foods to eat while you're waiting - pickles, pickled cauliflower, pickled carrots, pickled jicama, peppers.....oh man, I want to go there right now.   I take my Kindle and just enjoy my delicious hoagie and orange juice.  I guarantee you'll love this place.  The owner is a real gem, I don't think his name is Lee, but he always runs the register and always calls me "boss." I won't complain about that.    After you order, the guy making your chow usually just brings it out to you and says thank you everytime.   I can't tell you how nice it feels to be appreciated and hear the words "thank you" as a customer.    How many businesses don't now do this.

Lee's is just plain fantastic.   It is fast food, order at the counter.   So ....... if you've never been here, don't expect a restaurant.    I wished they had a 6 star option!

I think; hope I went there on an off day. Seeing the reviews I was expecting was a good steak sandwich. I ordered a California cheese steak sandwich what I got was a sparsely filled sandwich on a stale bun. The steak and onions peppers mushrooms were average at best. I totally was expecting the sandwich from photo #7. The pickles from the condiment bar were good. They do have an interesting bottled garlic hot sauce at the table. Service is good.
    color me unimpressed

So I used to live in Philly. And the Lee's Hoagie House I went to was on Cheltenham Ave. I heard about this place and thought, yay, real Philly Hoagies and Cheesesteaks (in Pasadena?). I live on the West Side, and only get to Pasadena on the weekend (for Huntington Gardens. Remember, I lived in Philly and Longwood Gardens is just outside Philly and is an amazing garden. Huntington is almost as good...).

This Lee's is closed Sundays, so i've never had a chance to re-connect Cheltenham Ave with Colorado Blvd, until a staycation day off in the middle of August.

and what did I find? first of all it's not connected with the Philly Lee's (the owner said "yes a the beginning, but definitely not now"), and it's better. But not in the SoCal vs Philly way, it's just better.

Good, honest Philly-based food (Cheese-Steaks, Burgers  and Hoagies), plus free pickled vegetables!. and a host of regulars that can't get enough of this wonderful hoagie house in Pasadena.

    What more can I say?
..oh yeah, they're closed on Sundays!

I eat here pretty frequently, since I work close by. First of all, the staff is super nice and very attentive. Everything is super clean, and the food is made to order. Anytime I order fries, I get them fresh out of the fryer.
Their California Chicken Sandwich is AMAZING. I get it on Wheat, and I think it's better than on Sourdough. The chili cheese fries are pretty good too, and their famous chicken hoagie is definitely worth trying.

They get four stars because when they get busy, it can take up to 25 minutes to get food, which kinda of sucks. Also, when they get busy, the chicken is overcooked and dry. If you're going around lunch time, order ahead and pick it up!

I'm teetering on the verge of giving this place 4 stars... however, I just don't fully get that ol' 4 star feeling. They say that three is a charm so maybe next time will change that.

All in all, this place is decent. It has a pretty wide variety of items and a few creative take on their french fries. The parm and marinara fries were good, but seemed to be missing something... maybe a lil garlic powder... The chickem sandwhich (their specialty) was good. I normally don't go for the chicken sandwhich, but since it was my first time and their specialty, I tried it and I can say that I'd try it again. I liked their Greek Gyro also, it's pretty filling and cheap too.

This place is a bit off of the beaten track, but not too far that it isn't worth the trip.

I've been coming to Lee's for as long as I can remember.  I love this place.  The quality and love that's put into the food is amazing.  I love the open kitchen too, its just such a welcoming environment to grab a good, quick meal.

You can go two routes here ... sinful and decadent, or light and nourishing.  Not very many quick-casual spots give you both options.  From chili cheese fries to the broiled chicken platter, everything is made to order.

The tzatziki sauce that comes with the gyros is so fresh and oh-so good.  The large super italian hoagie comes with these amazing peppers.  They have a pickled condiment bar that you can go to town on ... pickled cabbage, jalapenos, chili peppers, radishes ... you know, the good stuff.

Lee is usually there himself during the week to greet you with a smile and take your order.  They are closed Sundays which is always a bummer, but they open early and have awesome deals on breakfast.  Thanks Lee for being a Pasadena staple :)

I ordered Lee's Famous Chicken Hoagie since that was the most popular by fellow Yelpers. As soon as the order was put in, it was made to order as the cook placed a slab of chicken on the grill. The beautiful sound of the meat on the hot grill was orgasmic! The food was prepared in minutes too!

It was the moment of truth. I grabbed the hoagie and pressed the tip of the sandwich to my lips. The mounting anticipation intensified as the aroma of the charred meat woke the sensory cells of the nasal cavity. Without further ado, I opened my mouth wide to that of a great white shark sinking it's jaws into its prey. What was this? The charred meat was too concentrated that overpowered the flavors of the other ingredients. How could this be?! Boo!

This place can easily receive 4-stars but I can only critique on this experience. I will be back to try some other sandwiches in the near future.

Hands down, the best chicken sandwich in town.  The chicken is perfectly seasoned, tender, with delicious charbroiled flavor, served atop a fluffy roll with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and caramelized onions. Throw in some great, friendly, and prompt service, and you've got one of the best lunches you can have in Pasadena.

Was at at training in Pasadena for work and it was about to be lunch.  Decided to yelp some places and found Lee's Hoagie House.  Went there to try it out and the food was amazing.   Went there twice and the owner remembered us and was super nice.  The place is walking distances from our training place so the 2nd time we went there we called in our order 5 minutes before lunch and we got there it was already ready for us.  Took the food back and shared it with some of our co-workers and they were surprise about how great the food was and shocked that they hadn't known about the place sooner since they work nearby.

    Can't wait to come back.

Definitely a tasty meal and don't go without trying the red garlicky sauce on the table, it's Delish!

They also sell a bottle of it for only $5. I might have to get one for home. You can't find it in stores because they buy it directly from the producers up in Santa Barbara.

I like how the meal you get is made to order and you can smell the food and know that it is ready when the aroma peaks your senses, my mouth watered a bit. I tried out the Lees special and it hit the spot! My buddy had the same sandwich with a side order of chili fries. Apparently the chili in the chili fries is home made, it sure tasted different than the stuff you have at either from The Hat, Tommy's or even out of a can. The fries hit the spot but I could only eat so much. I mean after a 2 hour gym session, I did feel guilty eating here but I didn't splurge as I first thought I would. Instead I finished my sandwich and a few fries then I was done, I couldn't anymore.

    Would I be back?
As I was waiting for my meal I did read that the protein burrito is tasty. I'll have to try that out next time I'm in the area.

I drive up and down Colorado a bunch and have been wanting to try Lee's Hoagie House for quite some time. When I saw a Groupon deal for the place, I took it as a sign and bought a couple of them.

I went in last week to redeem my Groupon and before I even said anything, the owner(??) at the register said I should get the chicken hoagie because it's the best thing they've got. How can you argue with that? I took him up on it and got some fries and a coke as well. I'm glad I got it to go and ate it at home because me devouring that hoagie was not a pretty sight.

Chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes, and some kind of heavenly sauce. So simple but oh so good. I ended up saving the second half of my hoagie for dinner and it was still good a few hours later. I don't know why people continue to go to places like Subway when you can get something far better from Lee's for the same price! It's a great lunch option and a lot healthier than fast food.

I can't wait to go back and try something else but I might just stick with the chicken hoagie. You really can't go wrong with it.

Not my first time here but its my first time writing down a review.

Service: Very friendly. The owner always smiled and knew several of the patrons by name which I thought was pretty neat. He walked around and socialized with people at different tables.  The food I ordered probably came out within 5 minutes.

Food: I got a Chicken Hoagie which is probably what they consider one of their main specialties. The bread was toasted to perfection and the best part was that while i was eating the sandwich, the bread did not fall apart on the bottom. The chicken was grilled almost perfect. The insides were moist and juice compared to other places when they grill the chicken to mimic dry cardboard. The only slight complaint is that the edges of the chicken were a little burnt but not enough to bother me that much.....i mean.. its frickin grilled chicken lol.  Im not sure what the sauce was but it complemented the sandwich real well as did the shredded cabbage covered with some seasoned sauce. The grilled onions werent too shabby on it either

Ive also tried the philly cheese steak sandwich from here before and those are delicious as well. The sandwich is topped with grilled peppers, onions, and a layer of cheese. The toasted bread does fall apart on this one but what can you expect.. its a juicy sandwich haha.

Good prices good food. Id recommend this to friends for lunch :)

Got the famous chicken hoagie which was surprisingly good with my modifications (no mayo, and lite oil and vinegar). They us big fillets of whole chicken breast which were grilled to perfection. Very flavorful and delicious. Add mustard and you have yourself a delicious meal.

Got their homemade chicken vegetable soup too. Whole ingredients and not creamy, but very flavorful. We enjoyed it. More restaurants should serve healthy homemade soup.

It was my time @ Lee's and i wasn't impressed with what i got... perhaps i just ordered the wrong things.

Anyways, I ordered the Philly Cheese-steak and the "hoagie fries" (marinara and Parmesan cheese on top)

The PCS totally lacked any flavor.  I ended up loading on the garlic pepper sauce and a blend of the things from the picked veg station (cabbage, carrots, pickles).  Those modifications made it somewhat decent.

But dagnabbit!  When I eat a Cheese-steak, I want it to be able to stand on its own!!!!

As for the fries, the marinara is pretty weak in the flavor category and a bit too watery - made all the fries soggy and not in a good way (eg chili fries).

On the positive side, the service was quite good for a sandwich shop and the food was prepared quickly.

I'll give Lee's another shot in the upcoming months, but try something else.

I've seen various reviews for this place, so I decided to try it. I had the Philly cheese steak with mushrooms and pizza fries. The bread is awesome, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef was tender, but lacked flavor. Needs salt and pepper or something. Their "thing" is the chicken sandwich and I didn't go with that. The pizza fries were great, nice and crispy. The marinara sauce had a full tomato flavor and subtle italian herbs. I missed it in the menu, but they have "wet" fries. It's like having deep fried mashed potatoes with gravy. Poutine is what the  French Canadians call it... and they are geniuses!

Didn't realize this restaurant has been here for so long - talk about being oblivious!

Anyhow, the hoagies are great and from spying everyone else's lunch orders, everything else looks delicious as well.

Definitely right about being super friendly.  The owner (I guess) was very nice and polite, and he knew all the regulars' names.  I think he knew a couple of "lemme have the usual" from a couple of regulars, too.  And everybody seemed to know each other as well.  Now that's a hallmark of a truly fine dine establishment.

I'll have to make more trips into Pasadena to give myself an excuse to order something different off the menu each time.

I was fortunate enough to eat here on a recent business trip and was very impressed.  They grill their own chicken (real dark meat) that is absolutely fantastic and highly recommended.  We had breakfast and had to have the famous breakfast burrito with aforementioned grilled chicken.  I can honestly say that I have never had a larger breakfast burrito and have a hard time recalling many that were tastier.  That was my meal for the day, no joke.

The owner is a super friendly man who will remember you every time that you come in and even gets your favorite on the go when he sees you coming.  It's very nice to see an owner that cares about customers and hope that Lee's continues to be successful.

This place is CLASSIC. It has been around for ages, and has attracted a reliable and regular customer base. Myself not included, due to the commute I must make to get there.

To be honest, I had my first hoagie from this joint about 10 years ago. My mom brought home their famous Chicken Hoagie after her stop at the nail salon next door. She had them load it with 1000 Island dressing (I was a fairly uhh, jolly, boy haha).

HEAVEN - The chicken is oh so succulent. The shredded lettuce crisp; tomatoes plump and juicy. Top it off with a stream of olive oil, vinaigrette, and some 1000 Island and its a flavor partay in your mouth.

Tried and true, Lee's Chicken Hoagie is my favorite thing off the menu. Couple that with an excellent friendly staff and no wonder they've got everyone coming back for more.

    ~"Where everybody knows you name..."~

Well, at least Chacon does.  I can confirm that Chacon, the guy behind the cash register not only remembers you name after only one visit, but he remembers what you order. I don't how many people I watched just walk up and hand over some money and get a cup for a drink without even ordering.  Chacon's got more friends than Tom from Myspace.  I can also confirm the place as a cop hang, but ya know what, a cops got to eat too and this place is probable better and more healthy than any of the donut places in town.

I came here for lunch after being sick the night before and all morning. Not exactly comfort food, but I've wanted to try it.  I ordered to classic chicken hoagie.   As far as I'm concerned, a lot goes into a good sandwich.  I mean you need good meat, good bread and good toppings.  Lee's had two out of three.  The chicken was grilled, tender and juicy and with just the right about of "char" flavor and the bread was excellent French baguette, crunchy on the outside and almost melt-y on the inside.  The toppings, well, I'm on a campaign against shredded lettuce, I think it should be banned from the universe on anything except a taco.  The special sauce wasn't that special, but they do have some decent hot sauces to add a little kick.  I haven't tried anything but the chicken but I can see how other things may not end up being as tasty.

Give it a shot - it's fast and it's good.

The name "Lee's Hoagie House" is legendary in my family.  The first one opened up in my mom's neighborhood when she was growing up in Philadelphia and today, suburban outpost in Abington, PA has been my first stop every time when I visit my grandparents. It's a very good and respected chain hoagie and cheesesteaks shops.  I've heard rumors of a location in Pasadena for a number of years now, but I always manage to forget about it.

Times comes and I'm in the neighborhood.  Seems that the link to Lee's is unofficial now, but they try to keep authentic.  They fare alright.  The italian hoagie is excellent and the cheesesteak is very forgettable.  Both suffer from a really poor choice of bread.  Still, Lee's gets by on its own merits, but I probably won't return.

I've heard many good things about this place and I was not disappointed.  Upon stepping in, the servers were very friendly.  There were many good choices on the menu.  I decided to try the Classic Chicken Hoagie since that's what they're known for right? My bf got the mushroom melt burger.  Our food came out promptly.  I like everything had a old diner feel to it, very cozy!  My chicken hoagie was very filling, I was only able to finish half!  I got to try a bite of the mushroom burger and it was a pretty awesome burger.  Moist burger with a soft bun and lots of grilled mushrooms.

This has become one of my regular lunch spots and I've been back since a couple more times to try other things on the menu.  I also recommend their chili cheese fries.  Enough to share amongst 2 or 3.  Great place!!

I usually go to the sushi place next door when one day I decided to try Lee's Hoagie House--and I'm glad I did.  Their Chicken Hoagie is something you must try.  Everything is made to order, but definitely worth the wait.  It amazes me that the guy that takes the orders remembers everyones name and also knows what you are gonna order right down to the drink before you get to the register.  As my fellow yelpers have mentioned it is a hangout for the Pasadena Police Department, so if you are hiding from the cops--stay away and have a friend pick up your lunch.

They are closed on Sunday's which kinda sucks--but oh well!

Figured I frequent Lee's so much, they deserve a review. After you get pulled over, follow the cop to lunch here. Guaranteed 1) you'll scare the critz out of the five-oh, and 2) you'll enjoy your food.

Food: Most folks get the sandwiches. You can't go wrong by ordering something with the world "famous" on it. There's a few of those on the menu.

Ambiance: Fast food, complete with self-service soda machine.

Service: The guy at the counter (Chacon) remembered my name after just one visit. Maybe because I helped myself to quite a few pickle wedges =). But it's been a smooth relationship since.

The Skinny - Local neighborhood joint tucked away in the middle of Pasadena. Service is top notch and food is pretty damn good itself.

The Details - Came here during a weekday lunch break and ordered the famous chicken hoagie and small order of fries ($8.50). The hoagie was pretty damn good with the special house sauce, grilled onions and peppers, and a surprisingly juicy chicken for the most part (some of the edges were a little dry from burning). The fries were pretty standard fare. You definitely get a locals-diner feel when you get there as the guys working behind the counter are very friendly and kind.

    The Major Pros
    - Great tasting chicken hoagie
    - Great service and chill locals spot feel

    The Major Cons
    - The peppers at the condiment bar were sub-par ... a little too salty for my taste: but if you can do without peppers, this isn't much of an issue

The Verdict - I'd go out of my way to check this place out, especially since the chicken hoagie is really as good as you'd think it would be. Definitely a good lunch spot.
