Review from Taylor O.
Fairly lively (considering everyone was sitting down and quiet-- Oh Canada!) we headed in and caught the odd free table on the second level just above the stage. Blue musician gave a shout out to Americans (of which we were the only ones) which was slightly weird when all attention was focused on us who were seemingly in balcony seats. It was mostly a couples or set of couples crowd, there were a few younger people at the bar but they left when the music started.
The beer selection was excellent, though racking up quite a portion of the bill. The food was better than I had anticipated for a pub, delivering solid artisan European style sausages and the maple salmon was pretty decent and fits our touristy inclinations and predilection for novelty. -

Best bang for your buck in Quebec. I ordered the cheap chicken sandwich meal and I swear I could have made it into two meals. The mains come with fries AND salad (which I appreciated since it's always sad to choose between the two).
We'd just missed the live band but it was okay. We had plenty of entertainment watching two severely drunk dudes trying to hold each other up at the other table.
Tons of beers to choose from.Listed in: Happy times in Quebec

Most of the staff we met was wonderful, and the food was good and reasonably priced (something we didn't always find in Quebec). Certainly a Pub atmosphere, but keeping in mind the name you should come to that conclusion on your own anyway.
Try the Steak and Kidney Pie. We thoroughly enjoyed it... On two occasions. Try with a Leffe Brune... Or Maudite if you're surging with Canadian pride.
Almost a 5* place, but while there we experienced a server reprimanding another server on the floor. When we found out what they were arguing about we thought it was petty and it, no matter what the reason is, should be kept in the back... away from customers. -

First of all, I love the fact that this place is called "Le Pub." A also like that it's located in a very British Isles-style building on a very French-speaking street in Canada, British flags-a-flying. So it's weird all around, and I go for weird. Especially when weird involves beer.
Their beer selection is fantastic, with an incredible selection from Western Europe, particularly England, Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium. However, they lose a point with me with the complete lack of American beers. Arguably the world's greatest beer-making country is only represented by Coca-Cola on their menu. I'd understand if they didn't have beers from China (Tsingdao) and Japan (Sapporo), and neither of those beers is particularly good. Japan actually makes an excellent Belgian ale (Hitachino), which you can occasionally find in the U.S.
We also didn't try the food, but it looked tasty. We had just eaten down the street and just wanted to duck in for a cold beer on a hot day. The prices on the happy hour specials were ideal. I did try the Don de Dieu, a Quebec beer which is absolutely outstanding: yeasty, citrus, honey but powerful and high alcohol. A perfect drink for a beer lover on a sunny day. -

It's very rare that I find 3 of my favorite beers in the same place:
- Kwak
- St Bernardus 12
- Leffe Brune
Le Pub Saint-Alexandre seems like such a weird fit - a pub in the middle of quaint idyllic Old Quebec. They have over 200 beers available, live music, and was a nice change of pace from the surrounding French and Italian restaurants. -

Great atmosphere.
Delish soups and salads.
Main entrees fell short.
Reasonable prices.
2 drinks, 2 startes, 2 entrees, w/ tax and tip was roughly $60 (CAN). -

an irish bar, right in the heart of french-speaking, euro-appearing quebec city. we noticed another more obviously irish bar across the street during our drive into old town from boston, and we opted for the more subtle place to try the local brews.
we were able to obtain two seats at the bar even though almost every seat was taken. a fabulous folk irish band was playing and they really captured the attention of the audience. we ordered a glass of beer each [as opposed to the larger pint]. we considered doing the flights of beer, but it ended up being more cost-effective to order a glass each of the local beers on draught, and switch halfway down the glass.
the local brews were yummy...some of which are sold here in boston like the unibrau maudite and la fin du monde. others were more obscure. service was pretty decent and they helped us along with trying each of the beers. -

Packed, this pub gave us the impression that this was the pub to be at on a Friday night. Though the service was fair, one of our dinners arrived with a foreign piece of wood in it. The chunk of wood buried in our sauerkraught appeared to be from their bar countertop, making us wonder what kind of protocol was being followed in the kitchen. The waiter replaced the meal but didn't offer any other compensation. In fact he cut us off from ordering an additional snack because the kitchen closed 10 minutes earlier without him warning his customers. Needless to say we packed it in early that night.

This is an excellent pub; it's stylish, charming with an old fashioned simplicity. Amazing selections of International beers and wines.
My husband and I discovered their Cider on tap (local fav of Quebec)
which was excellent! We do not drink beer but the cider was worth a few extra rounds and two additional luncheons . . . we really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere here is fun and inviting. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was very good, however we enjoyed the Fish & Chips and Calamari . . . I really don't know what the evening scene is here but the afternoons were busy, good lunch business. Very nice establishment. Enjoy. -

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but a colleague brought me to this place. They have an interesting collection of beers including some brewed by Trappist monks from Belgium available on tap. The live music was OK. Quite noisy and crowded, but I guess that's how bars tend to be.

This is a cute little pub, busy as heck during the Carnaval de Quebec. It is a great place to sit back, relax, listen to music, eat, and enjoy one's company. This is not a club and does tend to be loud. I have been to the Carnaval two years in a row and it seems like this place is the happening place. It is cozy and you do not have to get all dolled up to enjoy a night out here.
