I have visited le Petit Cochon Dingue on three occasions (as well as le Cochon Dingue) and have been impressed every single time. Located in old Quebec, it's a great place to stop during an afternoon of walking around and taking in the sights.
Without fail, they have the best french onion soup in Quebec City. During a three-day stay there, I had french onion soup for brunch, afternoon snack and dinner and this one was the absolute winner. The three-cheese topping is to die for and it was perfectly boiled. The bread was thick and hearty and the bouillon was perfect. Top this off with a cold beer or a glass of wine and it's absolute perfection!
I suggest this place for anyone and everyone! I've also heard great things about the sandwiches. -

I had a latte here and some sort of nut bread with the most delicious strawberry and raspberry preserves. Everything was delicious, i even purchased the jam and had to check my bag in at the airport in order to bring it home. Well worth it. It seems they make everything from scratch and you can watch the bakers make their treats in the front of the bakery. I only wish i had had more time to go back and try one of their sandwiches.

The line here was absolutely chaotic. Apparently a couple tour groups - speaking roughly as many languages as the floor of the U.N. general assembly - had gotten in just before us and were struggling with the order. The friendly, hardworking staff of mostly young women was struggling to keep up.
I had the soup, ham sandwich and cappuchino, which were roughly Au Bon Pain-quality, if you're familiar with the American chain that operates in the northeast.
What was nice about this cafe was the atmosphere, being able to sit outside. If you're here in the winter, I would eat elsewhere. -

A café with a picture of a pig on it....how could it not be tasty?! We were in search for a late evening dinner with the family and this was just what we needed. Try the Moules frites special. The special comes with an order of steamed mussels topped with savory sauces (you get an option of two types), an order of fries, salad and dessert for $20!! What a fine! I was salivating while my sister enjoyed the feast! I ended up switching my order at the last minute to try something different, but regretted it the whole time (even though my food was good). But I did try the lobster cappuccino soup which was fantastic! The soup is presented exactly like a large cappuccino but the taste was all lobster.
There are several separate locations of the café and I think a few of them are somewhat connected. Prices on other menu items are alittle pricey so do ask about the specials that they offer. This is definitely a place to re-visit on a future trip to Quebec City.Listed in: Quebec City & Montreal CAN

The potato skins are just that - the skins only. Most amazing thing ever. So fabulously tasty.
It's been over four years since we've been here and my mouth still waters at the thought of it.
Also, my husband still talks about the d*** chicken pot pie like it was the best part of the honeymoon. Um.... what about ME???? as his BRIDE???? -

I was hungry. I found this amazing little restaurant accidentally. The staff was very friendly, and all were bilingual. The meal I wanted wasn't on the menu but the staff made it for me anyway. The food was hot and fresh, as one would desire in an eatery. The bowl of latte was the perfect temperature and taste. Awesome experience.

We stopped in just to buy some breakfast-y foods for the next day. Long line for food and when we ordered, they messed up on our order. No big deal though. I mean, we're not speaking French and they're trying to help us in English. We just ordered 2 almond croissants and 2 plain croissants, but instead she made us some sort of sandwich with melted cheese. It was quite interesting. The croissants were good, but the whole experience was just so-so.

The food was excellent. It's a nice casual cafe/restaurant with lots of vegetarian / végétarienne options including sandwiches and thin crust personal pizzas. The desserts and pastries are also excellent.
