I'm still dreaming of gratin of chevre and poached pears!  This is a tiny, cozy restaurant that's extremely welcoming and the food makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  The pricing is reasonable and the quality is high.  Our waiter helped us to translate the chalkboard and was very helpful with finding us a quality wine at a reasonable price.

If you like casual places where the focus is clearly the food then I highly recommend this restuarant.  They only had two servers so the pace of the meal is not quick, but you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy.

This is the kind of place where you go with friends and celebrate good company by sharing exquisite food.

Let me start by saying that the wine here deserves more than 5 five stars! Truly a memorable experience. They are different, tasty, perfectly paired with the food. An amazing experience!

The food was good. Not excellent, definitely not bad. Good. Maybe a little expensive for the quality. I will definitely try again, to better compare.

Casual and small, kinda shabby-chic, focusing on wine, cheese and charcuterie (sold by the gram), but churning out some great main dishes from their small kitchen as well (check their site for hours mains are served), le Moine Echancsons served as the culinary highlight of my recent trip to Quebec.

The waiter, I'll say first, was excellent; he was so kind as to translate for us the entire menu on the chalkboard from French, and recommend us a reasonably priced wine.

We started out with the sturgeon mousse, a whipped goat cheese (I believe) lightly flavored with that pungent fish, though it was a very tasty and completely inoffensive preparation..bravo!  My main dish, andouillette sausages removed from their casing, chopped up and cooked along with diced potatoes, endives, chopped pork belly in a creamy wine sauce topped with slivered onions and served in a mini cast iron pan, was simply amazing.  I won't lie: this dish was quite rich, particularly as I was finishing it, but so savory and delicious, and I didn't feel weighed down afterwards, thanks to the accompanying house wine (a syrrah/gamah blend).

Dishes cost between $17 and $23 that night; their full menu is available till 11 PM Thursdays through Saturday, making Le Moine Echanson the perfect place for a late dinner.  Or if you're just into some noshing and expanding your palate, this is place to go in QC to sample wines, cheeses and dried meats with friends.

Just a short walk from the old city, and well worth the detour. The duck confit was perfectly cooked, not too dry. Lots of quirky touches: Our salad, peppery and tart with fennel and orange, came in a glass! The wait staff had plenty of time to answer all our questions, and made us feel at home.

I had an unbelievably memorable meal here. They focus on local produce, organic wines, and honor the cuisine of Quebec while ticking the palate. The creme brûlée fois gras will stay in my food memory a long time. The watercress soup and endive salad were excellent appetizers. Then we moves into duck confit, boudin noir (blood sausage) pizza and galletes of pork. All were amazing and the sommeliers wine pairings were spot on. This restaurant rocks!
