Outstanding. No trip to Le Continental would be complete without ordering the flambes, prepared at the table by your server. The restaurant is old-school but the food is out-of-this world. Pricey, but worth it.

This was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! We were coming from the US on an overnight trip to Hotel de Glacé and I had wanted to eat something French in downtown Quebec city. After reading reviews I chose Le Continental and I was so happy I did! We had escargot and salad for appetizers which were excellent the best escargot I've ever had! Then I had snow crab legs with hollandaise sauce and even the veggies were amazing! Server was probably the best waiter I've ever had and the maitre de was fantastic and sociable. Boyfriend had the shrimp and scallops and raved about it although he wolfed it down and I did not get to try some! We had crepes Suzette for dessert and it was a fabulous end to our dinner. If we visit Quebec city again we will definitely be returning !

I am not a Quebec local, I actually was touring Quebec City with Gray Line and they let us have lunch wherever. It was lightly raining at the time and I found this cozy nook in a cozy corner and thought it would be great to have lunch here :).
The place is really fancy schmancy, so I felt kind of weird because I was wearing touristy garb when I ate there, but nonetheless the waiters were really nice and since I don't really speak French, they were polite to ask what language I preferred to speak in. At least I said Bonjour and Merci. hehe
I ordered lobster bisque and a pasta penne dish, which filled me up. My boyfriend got crab legs, which wasn't as filling, but I let him have some of my penne. The lobster bisque was scrumptious and they give generous helpings of lobster throughout the soup. The pasta was al dente, so it was perfect.
They have many wines to choose from, but I'm not an avid wine drinker, so I don't really have much to say on the wines besides that they carry wines. The bathrooms are upstairs.
I didn't get to take home a take-out menu ( I don't think they have one...) but they have a website to check out their menu.
For tourists, this place is quiet. I think it's because it's not the cheapest restaurant ever in Quebec. Be prepared to spend at least 30 Canadian dollars there, if you get a drink and just an entree. I saw a few men in business suits eating lunch here. When I went there service was speedy, the waiters were polite, and you get to listen to classy classical/50's music ( I know because some of the songs they play are tunes my dad would sing along to in the car).
Another important tip: tipping is important!!!! Not just for waiters but even for tour guides :). Just thought you would know. Double the taxes on your receipt. It's even better to exceed it too, just a bit.
In the chance that I do ever come back to Quebec, I'd like to swing by this place again. Bigger groups (6-8) is welcome. -

I had the snow crab. Granted, this is over four years ago now, so the details are hazy.
All I recall is that I loved it - it was a great spot to have a very romantic last meal on our honeymoon and that the service was great. -

We just had our dinner tonight! A family of four, the Food and service is five stars! Its pricy resturants, but worth it! We read the last post on Yelp am
And almost resreved table in a different resturant, luckily we checked Trip Advisor , and found great reviews about the resturant ( rated # 3 out of ~360 returants in Quebec city). All our dishes were made with perfection and the four of us included our kids loved it! -

This is one of those classic old school restaurants where the waiters wear white coats and everything is flambéed at your table. We started with some scallops and escargot, and then we each had the flambéed filet mignon cooked tableside. I admired the patience and skill of our server, who was also busy preparing crépes suzette at the next table. He certainly had flambéing down to an art. We finished up with a sugar pie w/maple syrup, a tiramisu cake and a plate of cookies. Our food was pretty good for the most part, no real complaints. But I can also get this sort of food at home, and when in Québec I prefer to take advantage of cuisine that is unique to the region.

This restaurant ignited my passion for food and rocked my world when I went there as a kid many years ago now. I remember having the duck flambé'd à l'orange and absolutely loving it.
Everything there is done in this old-world fashion of classical French restaurants. The servers are all dressed up for the occasion and know exactly what they are doing. There is no place for improvisation or amateurism.
A perfect place to enjoy a good meal. It is one of the most consistent restaurant you can ever imagine. Just don't expect to enjoy anything new here. -

My boyfriend and I walked around in the middle of the night in the freezing cold looking for french restos. He was really craving steak tartare and we finally found it at Le Continental. We had scallops as appetizers which were excellent. The steak tartare was one of the best I've had, we also had braised veal with brie, I actually ordered "ris de veau avec morilles" but the waiter took the wrong order and the manager ended up giving me a side dish of sweetbread and wild mushrooms. So the service is definitely exceptional, very pricy but worth it if you want classic french food.

One of the best dining experiences my wife & I have ever had: magnifique!
--great location, on one of the city's main arteries;
--superb food, some dishes presented table-side;
--professional, attentive waiters. -
Review from Josh S.
The restaurant is high end and popular - lots of dark wood & a professional and attentive waiter. But the sweetbreads I got were just adequate. The sauce was bland. The mixed greens were just mixed greens.
There was lots of table-side flambeing going on. If that's your thing, great. But I was disappointed.
