Review from David A.
Le Carmen had such potential but was flopped the night we were there.
Yes the location is gorgeous - or at least it used to be, a century ago. the details of previous splendor are still present but the physical structure of the ornate walls and ceiling is in pretty poor shape (made only worse by having turned the home into a bar).
Crowd was pretty thin and unenergetic. A DJ was kind of stuck in a corner blasting music through portable speakers that resemble those used at high school parties in a gym.
Cocktails were outright disappointing.
In short, Carmen may have sung "L'amour! L'amour! L'amour! L'amour!" but I did not find it for the bar that now bears her name. -
Review from Margaret T.
Oh Le Carmen, je t'adore.
This place is just gorgeous. Situated inside of the former mansion of Georges Bizet, the setting is ultra glamorous, and extremely romantic. My good friend brought me here, and I felt like I was in some secret exotic club for only a select few. The cocktails were superb, as was the bartender. Extremely charming, scintillating place. I cannot wait to go back.
Fais gaffe! You may meet a man here whom charms your heart right out of your chest, then disappears into the night without so much as a tender farewell. True story. I took one star off because of my broken heart.
