What an amazing selection in this location, from local craft beers to Cuban rum.  For this American on a work visit I could ask for nothing more.  As I was browsing an employee came over and walked me through the options for local beers, somehow I realized I could get a Cuban rum here and that just made my day, getting a bottle of Havana Club.

Prices were actually pretty good, selection was amazing, staff was super friendly, my only complaint is that this place makes me jealous that the States has nothing like this to offer at home.

This LCBO is at a major intersection for Street cars, traffic getting in or going to the condo jungle or Gardiner Expressway. The result is unless you are riding on TTC forget about parking during peak hours.  Location is quite good as one can make a quick purchase while waiting for the TTC street cars.
Selection is good for main stream items and decent selection of Vintage items.
Can get busy at times so be prepared for some lineups on prime booze shopping hours.

Not the biggest LCBO I've been to - that honour still belongs to one near Byward Market in Ottawa - but plenty huge, and a good selection. It's also about a ten minute walk from my house, whereas Ottawa is a slightly longer trip.

They've got a good selection of beer, good selection of other liquor-based beverages, and I suppose wine as well, but I'm not a wine drinker myself, so I can't really judge them there. I can tell you that I've never left wanting for what I came in, uh, wanting.

Be forewarned, however - it tends to be a popular one, so expect a line. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Huge, gorgeous LCBO that I didn't know existed until this week.

A stone's throw west of MEC, this relatively new booze bazaar is a fantastic improvement over the typically cramped lickbos you'll find downtown (not to mention that horrid outpost nearby in Chinatown).

Great selection of cold beers (in singles and sixers).

    Hello, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZE!

This LCBO is outta control! I love it!!!! It's huge and SPACIOUS (No need to jostle through the hordes to get to your bottle of choice). Even the bums outside asking for change are classier at this LCBO.

The wine selection is excellent. I've discovered a few nice vintages over the past couple weeks.

It's almost TOO convenient. Now this is a reason to drink!

This really is a dynamite LCBO, they have pretty much everything (well, except my Greek wine - Atlantis, or my Peruvian Pisco, but I think they can work on that for me).  In any case, you'll be blown away not only by their selection of neat-o gift packs around the holidays, but also their amazing selection of chilled wines and beers.  Its not all just Coors and Canadian in the refrigerated section, oh no - they've got Tiger, Stella, Sapporo, Becks and at least a dozen others.
They even have a locked cabinet for special scotch and fancy aged boozies.  Oooh, you fancy huh?!

While doing my daily read of BlogTO, I happily found out a few months ago about the LCBO being built at King and Spadina.  I literally squealed in anticipation.  You see, this news was all very good for me since it is a mere 5 minutes from my condo which would thereby save me a trip to the LCBO at First Canadian Place during my lunch break, as well as the incessent stares from co-workers who now think I have a drinking problem.

It is no surprise then that the day it opened (of which I just happened to walk by), I dropped by this location.  Once inside I immediately flashed back to the young age of 19, when I could legally drink alcohol in Ontario.  I was overwhelmed by the selection - there were shelves and shelves of wine to boot.  In particular I noticed there had to at least be 3 shelves full of different types of vodka, they even had some soju.  The vintage section was also well stocked and had a vast array of items.  Overall, I was quite impressed that such a large branch would be located downtown (with the exception of its head office).  I will definitely be fulfilling my alcohol needs from here now on.  Yay, no more judgemental looks from my co-workers!

For those of you who don't know what LCBO is, it's the only place in Ontario that sells booze.  We aren't fortunate enough to have discount warehouses or even corner stores selling stuff.

As for this particular location, the selection is decent and caters to a moderately up-scale clientèle.  They have some of the cheap crap as well as a fair selection of nicer stuff.

Is it bad that I want to get the Yelp app just so I can keep track of how often I actually find myself in this place? It won't help that in several months I will be able to hit this LCBO with a rock from my office's front door. Sigh...

Anywho, as the stars suggest, this place is great. They have a good vintage section that includes wines from all over and many of them are reasonably priced. I am not a fan of how they display many of them but if you look hard enough you'll find some great things.

The beer section in this joint is loverly however I am in competition with at least a small cadre of other beer snobs because the three or four things I keep looking for vanish the day after they reach the floor. (I swear I will find more Russian Gun even if it kills someone else.)

My second favourite section hands down is the scotch corner. Sweet sweet single malt mmmmmm...by I digress. If you're looking for one of those expensive, forty year old bad boys that you can't pronounce then this is the place to go. You're not going to find anything super rare or small run independents but they're chockablock with Glen's of all colours and suffixes.

Other than that, it's a pretty standard LCBO. You might want to be careful if you see a "caution wet floor" sign at the front because the tile is like ice when it's wet and I have seen many people wipe out at the front door.

Also, if you're just looking for a quick booze fix and you like your Rum n' or Vodka n'...the entire left hand wall is floor to ceiling racks of the big names. Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Tanqueray (eeewwww), Stoli and so on.

This is one classy joint. They even have a section for the Rhône wine region. Not that I know anything about wine, but a section dedicated to a french wine region is pretty garshdarn fancy.

They also didn't card me when I picked up my Le Sdfhdskf wine. I'll be back on my next lunch hour.

Yesterday I felt like a kid in a candy store...
This LCBO has everything a young alcoholic in training could ever dream of... a large selection of chilled wine, a vintage section and a tasting bar. It's new so the aisles are nice and wide and the selves are always fully stocked.

Finally an LCBO in my area that has a decent vintage section! For quite some time now I have been visiting the LCBO in Chinatown and although the staff there are incredibly knowledgeable, the product is lacking. The LCBO down at King and Spadina is well laid out and have plenty of options for a night in with pizza or heading to a dinner party.

Their vintage section provides alot of wine options while their wines in the general listing area are also impressive. Their Ontario Wines (which I am the biggest fan of), is extensive and they have broken down their french wines by region, not just country (thank god!).

If you live near both of these LCBO's, I would highly recommend you head to the one at King and Spadina. More Options, More Space, More Everything. Cheers!
