What I love about doing films is that you never know where you will be filming on any given day. Today I was asked to work on a commercial that was taking place at Lakecity Woodworkers. I got there early and found out I had an hour before they were going to film anything. The store was still open and I decided to walk around and see what they had. Originally the staff thought I was simply a customer. And the good news is they were nice, considerate and answered all the questions I had.

I was a bit shocked at the prices because they seemed pretty steep. But I soon found out that they are a bit pricier than other stores because they make their tables, chairs, beds etc...on site! These are not shipped from some other country and are badly made. Everything is solid wood made right out back in their huge woodworking facility. They have staff devoted to making unique, beautiful furniture. You can also simply buy something from their store that is already made like the cool small chairs that, thanks to hinges, can fold upside down and transform into a small step ladder in less than three seconds. Or you can tell them what you want and work on the design side of things to create the table or chair of your dreams!

You definitely need to save some money or already have plenty in your bank account to afford the furniture here. And a lot of what they have would look great in a cottage or historic house but doesn't seem to fit in a contemporary type of home. However, they do make their own furniture, have great warranties which is a rarity in the city. I doubt I'll stop on by if I'm furniture shopping any time soon, but I will definitely take friends of mine who can afford this type of furniture.
