First visit to Lahaina got here nice and early on Sunday morning....THIS PLACE GETS PACKED.....I cant believe the deck doesnt collapse.

    Fish taco's, Shrimp tacos.....ok
    Carne Asada Quesadilla.....better.

Drinks pretty pricey....paying for the atmosphere I guess.

They have a jukebox, get to put your own tunes in.....i took all the hip hop out for an hour and played nothing but metal......HA!!!

I love love LOVE Lahaina. It's right off the boardwalk so the beach is right there; the drinks are affordable; and the food is delicious. The place attracts a pretty laid-back crowd and the people who work there are super friendly and efficient.

The only reason I give this place a 4-star rating is because I'm a debit/credit card gal and can't encourage the "cash only" policy.

Thinks you should educate the door staff to recognize an official 'government issued ID' . The Green Card or Permanent Residents card is design NOT to be easily forged , given it's used to allow you in to the COUNTRY (think national security) anyway, my point is that who in their (under 21 years) right mind would thinks "green card.. yeah, I'll fake on of those so i can get in to a bar?"

    Tighten-up !

    Otherwise ... NO , just tighten-up !!!

Went here this past Saturday on a gorgeous sunny day and it was great.  Had a few beers and a big juicy burger with fries (see pic).  I wasn't sure how the food was going to be but it was good!  The tomato on my burger was as thick as the hamburger patty.  Definitely crowded there though and you hear a LOT of meat head chatter going on about the girls on the beach.

Kind of a weird crowd....it never feels quite right to me.  The food is greasy, but may help a a hangover if you are in a hair of the dog kind of mood.  But I cant really call it that good....

This places relies totally on the location....and you can sit here all day and people watch while you guzzle down pitchers.  It has to be a top day drinking location for this reason alone.  We need more places like this is San Diego and California in general.

Love the atmosphere I've paid for cheaper drinks elsewhere and the fact that they don't take cards is a bit of bummer I only carry so much cash on me for a reason but they have an ATM which they didn't make me aware of until 45 minutes of me being there. I like the beach atmosphere and the people all seemed to be having a good time, besides the prices being a couple dollers too steep (guy bought 2 shots of patron for $18, and my pitcher was just about the same) I will guaranteed come back again.

Great location with beautiful view of the beach. The main problem is the service here, the bartenders and bouncers are so rude. I've been twice and each time they get worse.. Won't be going back there.  Maybe they should try the whole kill them with kindness philosophy!

This is a must stop for an easy beer on the beach!... Head here every time I am in town.  I have stopped in hundreds of times through the years and it is just what it is.  A place on the beach with bar food, cold beer, great patio and fun.

Have an awesome patio that is on the beach. Perfect spot to watch the sunset and look for the elusive green flash.

The crowd here is all over the board but always friendly and having fun.

Stop in have a pitcher on the patio and relax.  Great way to start, go through or end an day.

OH!!! Bring CASH!  no Credit Cards!

This bar is literally on the beach....good luck getting a seat outside on the deck though...it is always crowed, because it's one of the finest views you'll get in San Diego at a restaurant.
This place is super casual and laid back....don't expect super rushed service... lay back and enjoy the ride.

I am not gonna lie...I didn't have very high expectations coming into this place but my friend and I were so hungry we didn't care. The location in pb on the beach alone made it a questionable culinary choice. I was pleasantly surprised though. We both got fish tacos and we were both really happy. Light crispy breading with crunchy cabbage slaw and a flavorful sauce. The place is tiny as he'll though. Most of the seating is outside and it was all full when we were there so we bellied up to one of the 8 seats at the bar. The beer selection is pretty extensive for such a small joint. Loved that they had red trolley ale on tap. The prices are actually pretty cheap for it being the 20 feet from the water. Only thing I didn't like was that it was cash only. I hate that. I don't carry cash ever since it's too easy to spend and lose. The bartender could have been chattier and friendlier too. But all in all it was a pleasantly surprising choice for beachside dinning.

It's really all about the service and if your treated badly at a place, not much else matters.  The owner of this place is rude... RUDE!  Really??  You should treat your customers a little better bud.  Not coming back. Ever.

Update...OMG...now it all makes sense after reading other posts.  Homophopic!  WOW!  We were a group of girls, some clearly lesbian and we were treated terribly.  So meanwhile we went down the block to WORLD FAMOUS and spent about $700 bucks in a couple hours.  Sorry jerks!

In the early 90s, this was my home away from home.

Yesterday was great, a trip down to Pacific Beach, some excellent grilled mahi-mahi fish tacos and ice tea, yes sadly I can't drink anymore so I watched my sister slug down a couple of beers.

From  90 to 95 Lahaina was a drunk fest at it's finest.
I'm sure if I was able to drink a little on some weekends it would still be, but I would stay at the hotel next it, and not drive.
I must of lost my car keys more then 10 times during that time, playing a drinking game, only beer on the table everything else was tossed onto the beach.

    The Grilled Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos.
Nice chunks of fish, cooked just right, they don't have this on the menu so you have to ask, other wise it's batter fish tacos.
Was stuffed with tomatoes, cabbage, onions, cilantro and white sauce in the middle. If you see the picture it's a pretty good size taco, it may look a little over done on the toppings but it was perfect.
My sister had the Carne Asada tacos, they looked good, next time.

This place is awesome, on the beach, full bar and good food.
I had the cheese hamburgers way back then, was great I'm sure it still is.

2 tacos and ice tea at Lahaina beach house. Priceless.

Bring cash, if your with a group bring a lot of it.

Awesome beach view and the patio is right on the beach. Its a cash only place but luckily they have 2 ATM's for your convenience. This is a must stop if you walk past or are in the area. I would give Lahaina no stars if I could.  I've never been here, but my friends were on a bar crawl and two of our friends were not allowed in because the bouncer was a homophobic prick.  It didn't matter to him that they were losing the business of 20+ people because they allowed the entire group to leave in support of our friends who were not permitted to enter the bar.  We haven't talked to the manager yet, but I'm sure he/she would be very unhappy if they found out their homophobic bouncer cost them the business of our entire party, which grew to be 40+ people as the day went on.

I refuse to support an establishment that discriminates based on their patron's sexuality.

Lahaina just kicked out two of my gay friends because they were wearing 70's - runner shorts from American Apparel during a bar crawl.

It was obvious the security guard had more of a problem with them being gay then the bar crawl apparel as everyone else was dressed similar if not "worse".

I will NEVER go back to Lahaina again and I can't believe there are still establishments that promote homophobia.

One word to describe this place - homophobic

Shortly after the bouncer just let in 5-10 girls who were wearing the equivalent of thongs, I was refused entrance for wearing "not wearing long enough shorts".  I was wearing short running shorts as part of a bar crawl for my good friend's birthday, but the bouncer didn't seem to care.

If you're a bigot and don't like gay people, then I guess this is the place for you. That said, I would recommend accepting PB locales like Shore Club or Millers.

Casual bar right on the beach. You can watch an amazing sunset on the outside patio while downing cold beer and bar food. I went on a Friday afternoon, walked up to a patio full of people having a great time, the bar was bumpin music, cool chill spot!! However, ladies please be warned the bathroom stalls are ridiculously small!!

Very dive-y feel to the place. Very nice, laid-back people. Pretty fast service. And you can't beat these prices anywhere else! They have amazing carnitas tacos on Taco Tuesday for only $2 each. The rolled tacos and nachos aren't bad, either. I always get fries and load up on ketchup + pepper.

Pitchers range anywhere from $11 - $14. They have a very convenient pitcher menu posted on the wall.

Beautiful view of the ocean from their patio (which is always full, no matter when I go). I always manage to find a spot on the counter/bar to squeeze into to enjoy my beer and food.

Cash only, so it's a little bit of a hassle (although there's an ATM inside, so I guess that compensates). There's a parking structure nearby (I don't know where else to park). I think it was $8 for less than two hours when I was there for lunch.

If the view of the beach and the waves weren't enough the staff is incredibly PATIENT (considering tourists and drunks can be extremely tiring) and friendly. There best kept secret is that the food is fantastic.
And yes they are open all year on the boardwalk.

Vegetarian friendly, several veggie meals, veggie burger, nachos, quesadilla, grilled cheese. They will add grilled onions and shrooms to those things also.

My favorites are the fish tacos and the teriyaki Mahi sandwich! yum.. I think I'll go for lunch.

There is no better place to drink a pitcher of beer and people watch the boardwalk and beach in San Diego.

There are a bevy of better breakfasts, though.  It's a pretty bare bones bar, beyond beers.

Plan on a long walk from any parking spot if you arrive after say 9:15.

Great spot for day drinking in PB! Pitchers are only $11 and you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous view of the sand and sun. I like that everyone who works here is very friendly and laid back. The outdoor patio is the highlight of the bar, and yes, snag a table as soon as you can because they go quick.

My only complaint was beer selection, but then again, you go to Lahaina to get wasted on the beach, not to drink craft beer. This is definitely a pit stop on my PB bar crawl list!

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago and, I have to say, I liked the place.  It's a really casual atmosphere and the clientele are some really laid back people.  We met a few great people and had a fun time.  It was pretty crowded but I never had any trouble getting a drink and the bartenders were friendly.  I read a few of the other reviews about the bad/rude bartenders and I was surprised to hear that anyone had any trouble here.  I'm not sure if I came on a good day or they just came on a bad day.  They are a cash only bar but they have a couple of ATMs that are readily available so cash wasn't a problem.  I'm definitely stopping by the next time I'm nearby.

Your beer is cheap, your staff is always super cool and oh, ya, the view....that's not so bad.

Just hover around people who have stools and tables. They'll eventually get up and then grab a seat, and stay awhile.

Imagine a beautiful beach, a Longboard lager, and hot wings. The perfect situation right? All of this and more is avaliable at Lahaina Beach House (like the name suggests it is located right on the beach).

I was loved the large porch area that allowed me to sit out in the beautiful weather while enjoying food! I got the hot wings ($7) and the fish and chips plate ($6). Both were delicious and reasonably priced!

The drinks seemed a little pricey, but I guess they can charge whatever for the real estate they inhabit. We each got a Longboard Lager ($9) and a shot of Jameson Whiskey ($13). I probably wouldn't get more than one drink here again. And there are many other places near by to get cheaper hooch.

TL; DR CASH ONLY!! $3 ATM FEE TO GET CASH!!!

There was a wait for food, but that is expected as there is only one cook. The drinks are inexpensive and you just can't beat the location. Get here early though as it can be crowded.

Ive been coming here ever since I could legally drink and its always been alright. Great location but way too many bros.

Whats not to like about day drinking right next to the waters and watching all of the tourists strolling on the boardwalk ? Its always a good time.

I really dont have anything too bad to say about this place. Last time my friends and I came we played a game to see who could find the biggest douchebag looking bro. Believe me, there was plenty to choose from.

Crappy beer selection but at least they have the hard stuff and they serve it to you in a clear plastic cup most of the time.

One of the few bars in PB that I wouldnt mind hanging out at, and thats saying a lot.

The food is kick ass, even the b-fast! They offer vegetarian selections which is a plus for a veggiesaurus like me.

The staff is the best though! I don't think there is anyone that works there that isn't really chill and easy to get along with:)

They only take cash, but there is an ATM inside, so it works out just fine.

what can you say about Lahaina's!?

i LOVE this place!! ive moved out of San Diego, but EVERY TIME i visit i HAVE to stop at Lahaina's. its the first bar i went to in SD when i was of age to drink, Its absolutely my fav. patio to sit on and enjoy some fish tacos and a beer. Especially after a day of surfing, and you wanna enjoy the sunset with your best flip flop clad buddies!

Everything about this place screams of San Diego's chill vibe, which is an amazing thing! its a typical bar, with typical bar food, nothing special, just a great place to create special memories :)

Went there on a groupon, cool place and very fun crowd. A little confusion on the groupon, but they figured it out but left us as customers a little lost in the sauce. I gupled down my bacon cheese burger and drank two beers (IPA) and (Red Trolley). Not sure why it is important to know what I drank but I wanted you to get an understanding of the author??? I wish we saw the sunset, maybe next time.

One of the most fun bars I have ever been to in my life!  right on the beach with a great view of the boardwalk, perfect for watching idiot hipsters in their color coordinated bike/ outfit combos.  The beer was a little on a pricey side, but my group really didnt seem to mind considering between the 4 of us we probably put down 10 pitchers in a 3 hour span.  The music was loud and urban, just how i like it.  Both the staff and patrons were very friendly, i cant wait to go back soon!

Weather was crappy by the time we got there, no sunset to see.  We grabbed a drink each, drank then left.  Margarita's were authentic, not made with a mix.  Bartender was no frills and didn't want to BS.  No problem with that, so long as the drinks are good.

Definitely the place to go if you want to see the sunset and have some drinks while doing so.  I know because I've gone past it way too many times, but never stopped to enjoy.  DUMBASS!

-1 star for cash only bar
-1 star for closing at 9:30 on a Saturday
-1 star for letting us order four pitchers of beer without telling us they were closing in 20 minutes.

Sure, nice view, nice atmosphere, but there are plenty of places close to the beach.  I know there are some weird rules around when they need to close given the location.  It would have been nice if someone gave us a heads up about their closing time before they took our money and gave us a bunch of beer we couldn't drink.

Tripped down to San Diego to meet up with college buddy and run the R&R 1/2 marathon. Since in my mind 1/2 marathon = half a#$ that means in my mind the day before I run I can enjoy myself at the beach with a few drinks...which is what I did.

Lahaina was packed as most have stated, which is why we gave it a shot, plus it was recommended by local friends. Took a while to get a drink at the bar and there was no room to stand on the patio.

Interesting crowd though, we meet some cool people who we ended up going to another bar with. If the patio wasn't so packed and I could sit and drink a pitcher with some friends this would be a cool place to hang for the afternoon. Standing elbow-to-elbow on a packed patio while someone spills my beer, not so much. Better bars in PB to be had.
