Came here last night with a last minute appointment I made on my way home from work. I was on the train, holding onto the pole and suddenly was very ashamed of the state my fingers were in. When was the last time I paid any attention to them? Time for some love!
I chew the shit out of my nails, so if I ever want polish or anything neat I have to get gel nails. So I that's what I made my appointment for. ($60 plus tax)
Normally I get french or some colourful variation, but this time I opted for the "permanent" polish which is a colour UV gel that they spread all over your nail rather than just at the tip. I picked an OPI charcoal that I don't remember the funny name for right now. It's pretty much black with a bit of sparkles. I like 'em.
My appointment ran late, past closing time. Jen still did a great job without rushing or making me feel guilty for keeping her there.
The cost is a bit pricey, and the chairs get uncomfortable after a while, but those are my only complaints. It's set up like a Pure Nail Bar, offering similar services and stuff, but I liked this waaaay better than my experiences and results from Pure.
I'll be coming back. It's close to home and the staff are friendly and do a good job.

I went to this salon with my mom, cousin, and aunt.
The space is very modern, clean, and bright. The staff were very nice as well.
They always have a tv show or movie going on so the time passes more quickly while you are waiting for your nails to dry.
Now, I've never had a manicure or pedicure in my life, so this was an experience in itself.
Note to first timers: if you are getting a pedicure done, DO NOT wear skinny jeans. I made that mistake to the dismay of my esthetician (sorry!). Wear pants that you can roll up! It'll make their job easier. I'll know that for next time haha!
The colour selection is quite large, there were many colours to choose from. I actually had a hard time choosing! I felt bad, I think I spent like 15 minutes choosing the colours alone.
Overall, the experience was very pleasant, and unfortunately for me (and my wallet) I really like getting my toenails done (toes are always so neglecting and rather unpleasant to look at without polish...)
Definitely check this place out the prices are very reasonable for the amount of work they do and the time you spend there :) -

Love Lacquer! My friend & I had a great mani/pedi deal (join their newsletter for special VIP deals) and wanted to clean up our winterized (ie quite nasty) hand and feet. The service was fantastic. My friend asked to have her colour redone because it wasn't what she had expected & they did it without any issue.
My nails look amazing & are shaped in the way I like. I definitely recommend going here.
My only warning is that they can be a bit scattered. At least four people asked us to clarify what our appointment was. I can understand two times; after that, they're not really prepared. If you can overlook that, they do good work. -

I think Laquer Beauty Bar is a great addition to Steveston. It's the best looking salon in the village by a long way. The place is spotless, beautifully decorated and the estheticians are professional and efficient.
I sat down for a pedicure with Samantha, followed with a hair wash and blowdry by Jamie Walton and some threading by Daman Groaya. By the time I stepped out I felt like a million dollars. The prices are similar to other salons in Richmond but the clean, white decor, comfy couches and the big screen tv - allowing you to watch a DVD as you get pampered - make a big difference. If you need some beauty attention or feel like spoiling yourself, this is a great place to go. -

Lacquer Beauty Bar recently opened in Steveston. Prices are reasonable ($20 for a manicure, $35 for a pedicure), surroundings are bright and attractive and staff are lovely.

I based the business after all the needs my Indian mom required and I required in one business. Growing up in Richmond most of my childhood and teen years made it the perfect choice for our flagship store. The Steveston Village is so magical you must come visit........!
