Review from Lara P.
Beautiful and ephemeral. Each item that you see has been selected with love because you feel like you are looking through someone's closet collection. I have picked up a nice lucky charm necklace by Mimi & Marge and a couple of cute cards for my darling. The staff is very friendly and helpful and really love and know each product in the store. It is refreshing to see a boutique that stands by its merchandise and proudly showcases it. I wish this were closer to the core but I guess it will lose some of its pedestrian charm if it were highly available to everyone else. This is definitely worth the walk to Parliament. Lovely and beautiful are the merchandise and how they make you feel when you re inside. Sigh. I am going there now!

This shop is amazing!
I love to buy everything online, because frankly, I don't love dealing with the prices in little boutique shops. But I was passing by here after dinner at Ginger, and had been needing some unique and interesting thank-you cards to send to designers and agency clients, so popped in at around 8PM or so.
I had looked at buying some nice letterpress cards online, but a $2.50 card with $10 of shipping is not a particularly good deal.
I browsed around quietly for a bit before the owner, Regina I gather, asked if she could help. I explained that I needed something a little quirky, a little artsy, well designed, nice paper quality, good value. She walked through the store and picked up a few things and thought to herself, and apologized for "being a bit tired and not able to find the perfect thing" for me.
And then, proceeded to find the perfect thing for me. At the perfect price, Doing quick math in her head - "well if you get the box, it's let's see, 2.20$ a card... that's a MUCH better deal for you," and tried to find even cheaper solutions - hearing that I was working with creative types and showing me some really lovely DIY options with stamp sets.
A very sweet shop, lovely staff, an owner that seems very passionate about her little business - and eager and able to help. Fantastic. -

Labour of Love is a cute shop that I can't help but walk into and/or gaze at the window display with longing whenever passing by.
What do they sell? What don't they sell! From stunning dresses, art, jewellery, handmade cards for any occasion, and cool trinkets you might find in the section of Urban Outfitters. As a matter of fact, I have seen some crossover only the items were more expensive at UO. Either way, this all makes for an excellent place to get gifts for anyone. You will walk in and everything just reminds you of a loved one for you've found something they HAVE to have. Like funny slogan shot glasses, an umbrella that looks like a samurai sword when closed or a pair of stunning earrings.
I was part of a Secret Santa with a $20 limit and my person was my guy friend who is pretty cool. So what do I get this O.G? Well, it's secret Santa so you want to get something nice that they would never get for themselves. Well for $20 on the nose, this boy-coffee enthusiast got a beautiful white, shiny porcelain mug with gold brass knuckles fixed to be a comfortable handle. Ingenious! He loved it and let me say, I have never seen a man or anyone get this worked up about a coffee mug before. Gave myself a pat on the back for that one.
This place is a find and although I don't want to out it, keeping it for myself, I must as a service to the community. There are some very artsy things that run at a very high price so be careful and watch your wallet. I know it's tempting to go wild in there but take it one step at a time and then you can visit the gorgeousness more often!Listed in: The Town of Cabbage

I am generally a pretty thrifty person. If the Arm & Hammer baking soda is ninety-nine cents, I will buy No Name brand for ninety-eight. But there is something about Labour of Love that makes spending money feel great. I could waltz out with eighty dollars worth of thank you cards and not feel even a bit guilty. Perhaps it's because the staff are sweet and fun and welcoming; perhaps it's because Regina, the owner, is the best salesperson ever. But I think mainly I just want to buy everything they have.
