This is my favourite local restaurant and I am never disappointed by the food and excellent service. Far better than the famous Italian restaurant across the street.

I am slowly working my way through all of the Italian restaurants of Burnaby Heights. This adventure began at La Villetta.
La Villetta is what I consider a solid Wednesday night restaurant. I wouldn't come here for a special occasion, but I would consider it as a (fairly) fail-safe dinner option.
Our dinner started with escargots and shrimp. The shrimp tasted a bit old, and was not as spicy as I would have liked. But the portion size was good. The pastas that followed were not mind-blowing, but they were satisfying. Again, not as much spice as the spicy description led me to hope for, but such is my quest for heat.
In sum, the servers were friendly, and the meal was satisfactory. I will definitely be back but I am not in a terrible hurry. -
Review from Edward L.
I've been here a couple of times, and must say the food here is GREAT.
The restaurant has a walled outdoor area with space heaters, so this would be a great place to dine and look at the stars on a summer evening.
This place has what I think is the best antipasto dish in town. The cheeses are fresh, the meats are delicious. Only thing is that it could use a bit more artichokes.
The main dishes are fresh and tasty. I've tried the linguini and the risotto. Can't go wrong.
From my seat you could see the kitchen. To be honest I was surprised to see an Indian and a Chinese chef in there. Not to be racist, but I was very surprised they weren't Italian, because the food was freaking GOOD.
The tiramisu is slightly alcoholic (I think) but this is also the best one I've had in any local restaurant. It was so good, I had 2.
My only complaint is that there's a weird odor throughout the restaurant (indoor eating area). Maybe it's the paint or the ingredients, but it smells like.. a washroom? I don't have the world's most acute or accurate sense of smell, but it did bother me quite a bit. I'm not sure if the entire place has this odor, but I did sit somewhat close to the washrooms, where there's a fireplace with a TV mounted.
I'll definitely be back, but it'll be in the summer, and I'll be sitting outside.
