Review from Kelsi C.
Maroquinerie is easily my favorite music venue in Paris.
It's small enough that you can always see the band, but big enough that you're not breathing sweat vapor (à la Espace B). The sound is great, and never too abrasive, which is nice if you like to hear the words and whatnot.
The terrace is great, and the food in the restaurant is even better. If you go early, you'll probably end up dining next to the band.
By venue standards, the beer isn't that expensive, so that's a welcome change. Also they've got two bars, and two bathrooms, which cuts down on lines in a nice way.
I guess my only actual complaint would be that it's tough to find the first time around. Bring a map, or study good street view. You'll thank me. -

Of all the bars and clubs that my hubby's band has played in Paris, La Maroquinerie is by far my favorite. The downstairs concert hall is perfectly sized; no matter where you stand you have a good view of the stage thanks to the elevated balustrade that wraps around the audience pit. The acoustics are also great, and the in-house sound engineer knows what he's doing, which is surprisingly not the case 90% of the time, even in some of the most reputable places.
In addition to the steady stream of local and foreign indie bands (some faves: Heavy Trash, O Death, Mad River, Underground Railroad) that make up the calendar, La Maroquinerie's other main attractions are its great patio and restaurant where you can hang before, during and after the concert. -

Just two days into my trip, I found out (thanks you Yelp) that the awesome band Sleigh Bells was having a show here. After some French website translations and using an Internet cafe's printer to print my ticket, I was set.
The venue is small and intimate. The area in front of the stage is great for those who like to get up close, but there's also an area that wraps around the venue and puts you a few feet higher than the stage. This really allows everyone to see the show, the acoustics were great, and the crowd was fun. After the show, the band hung out outside of the entrance and just chatted with fans.
A really cool venue. -

Voilà une salle de concert qui vaille la peine d'y aller! Le son est super, ce n'est pas grand donc on est très proches des artistes, il y a un bar avec une petite cour qui fait aussi guide de restau. On y passe de bons moments. Bref, allez-y !
