Review from Bailey Z.
One of the worst dinner services I've ever been through. This place was completely empty because everyone was out on the streets watching the Winter Festival parade. We were seated by a hostess from the bar downstairs and were neglected for a good 10-15 minutes before a waiter finally noticed that we had yet to be helped. For a pretentious looking restaurant located on Grande-Allée, this steakhouse actually has some affordable menu items. They had a whole page of entrees, which came with a soup or salad and also tea or coffee. They also had a special carnival steak and frites entree with French onion soup for $20.
I ordered the chicken brochette and my girlfriend tried to order the quiche. The waiter told me that they were all out of the quiche and to choose something else. Meanwhile, he came back with two bowls of vegetable soup while still not knowing what my girlfriend was going to order. She ended up ordering the steak and frites, which is supposed to come with the French onion. It was a very unprofessional move. That aside, the vegetable cream soup was delightfully delicious as was the bread that it came with.
After waiting a while after finishing the soups, the entrees finally came. The chicken was a little bit dry, but the rice was great and the steak was also very good. I liked that both came with gravy sauces for dipping, which went great with the mushy fries. Then after waiting another eternity, our waiter asks us if we want coffee, tea or any dessert even after we already specified that we wanted coffee and tea. We also ordered a slice of the cheesecake. He came back a while later with two cups of coffee with no tea and replied that they were out of cheesecake. What kind of business are you running here?! The coffee turned out pretty good so that satisfied me a while until the waiter decided to then disappear for 40 minutes. He finally returned with a check that included service tip. I've never, ever, been a restaurant in which a service charge is already calculated into the bill with only two people. I was so tempted to dine and dash. He is one of the worst waiters I've ever experienced. The only saving grace for this place was the food given the price, but the service drags this down to one star.
