I've had macarons from a few places around the city, but this place is by far my absolute favorite. Cozy atmosphere, cute decor.  I've been here so many times I've tried: white russian, caramel de sel, pink champagne, fig, jack daniels, mango, passion fruit, strawberry, nutella, apricot champagne, praline and many more. I have never had one that didn't taste amazing, though I do have a few favs, which totally depends on your personal taste. Also their other baked goods are irresistible, i.e. their chocolate croissants are SO GOOD!! but i always get a black coffee to clean my palatte, it's all very sugary :)

    Makes great gift.
If anyone says they don't like macarons they obviously haven't been here :)

The verdict is in: La Maison du Macaron has tasty macarons!

When I told my co-worker that I wasn't a fan of macarons, she looked shocked. Then she told me about this place that has one of the best. So one evening we set out to purchase these bad boys.

I think the trick is selecting the right flavors. My friend recommended that I choose the flavor that I like. So I opted for 2 nutella and 1 apricot almond. Both of which were delish! They don't really fit in the container they give you, and if you don't eat it right away, you have to put it in the fridge.

These macarons are starting to grow on me.

I remember stopping by here about four years ago when it was still Madeleine Patisserie. Their Rose and Pistacchio macaron was absolutely unforgettable. And still is. A very worthwhile pricey decadence.

The French really got macarons right (sorry Jews, better luck elsewhere).

La Maison du Macaron is a quaint bakery with seating in the back to sit down for coffee and a treat. The display in the front showcases hundreds of beautiful colorful macarons that you can choose from. The flavors they offer are fantastic! They have all the standards like chocolate, vanilla, espresso, and caramel. But they also have a huge selection of floral and fruit flavors like creme de cassis, rose lychee, passionfruit, lavender, etc.

This place does so many things right, but sadly I had to ding them one star. I came in to buy a few 6-pc boxes of macarons to give as gifts. The boxes I selected fit 6 macarons stacked on top of one another. By the time I had selected the 6th macaron, the barista was jamming it in the box with the tongs because they didn't fit properly. This left a couple of the macarons slightly smushed and crumbly. They also only had a mid-size bag, which was way too large to put a box of 6 macarons in. If I were them, I'd consider doing smaller individual-sized bag, it'd make their macarons more gift-able.

Even still, I love their macarons and will definitely find myself frequenting this place (doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from my apartment!).

Their macarons are such eye candy. The lovely array of bold colors would make the rainbow jealous. The flavors of these confections are just as daring. If the Poached Pear & Pink Pepper didn't catch you off guard, the Spicy Bourbon would. Compare to those, Strawberry Thyme and Apricot Champagne just like ordinary affairs.

I love their creative combination of flavors. The fillings are distinct with little ambiguity. The texture is not bad but not in the league of Laduree and La Maison du Chocolat, or even Bounchon and Payard. The shell is slightly thick and the texture beneath the crust is a little mushy.

Not the best in NY but the taste is good enough to guarantee a return visit.

A big taste of France in a small location.

This wonderful shop has an scent of sweet baked goods in the air. Choosing just a few to sample becomes a large task when you see all the flavors. They have since named all the macarons with name tags so you can easily ask for which one you want.

Almost all the baked items are delicious and there is a seating in area in the back if you would like to sit a spell with a few friends chatting over coffee and goodies.

Me: OMG you have to try the Macarons
Them: Oh, I don't like coconuts
Me: No, Macarons, not Macaroons.....they are special french or italian cookies.
    Them: nah, im good
    Me: $@%&@$ &!!!!!

Oh well, more for me :-) All that to say, that the Macaron is the new cupcake.... and they are getting just as expensive. But you have to search for quality, and this place is the best I've tasted in NYC.

There is a variety of flavors and my favorite is Pistacio. Make the investment and try a macaron from this place. There is not much more to say, just stop by.

Wait, one more thing to say, they have cute little boxes when you buy 3 or more, and they are perfect to give to some one to perk up their day.

My friend brought a box back from New York. The macaroons were pretty good considering the trip it went through. I really liked these as they had more filling than other one's I've tried, which gave the macaroon so much flavor. I can't really say much for the cookie part because of the trip. It didn't seem much different from the other places I've tried before. The cookie part wasn't too thin or thick and very chewy.
Some of my favorite flavors were: fleur de sel, pistachio, mango and passion fruit.
I hope to go to New York and try them fresh!

Adorable shop with the cutest patries and macarons! There were about 20 different flavors of macarons. I picked out 5 for $12.50 - Mango, Caramel Fleur de Sel, Lemon Caramel, Pink Champagne, Praline. They packaged it in a small cute box. The taste of each one is rich and flavorful!

Definitely will come back for a quick delicious dessert or snack!

I really wanted to go to Maison Laduree in the Upper East Side (hopefully next trip), but hubby said it was too far away on our last day, so I found La Maison du Macaron on Yelp.

They have tons of macarons!  So hard to make my choices.  The lady that was ahead of me ordered 2 of almost everything it seemed, she was pimping cuz they are $2.50 Each!!

    I got 6 for $15:

Rose Lychee - I picked 2, they were tasty, sweet & chewy cookies w/ buttercream filling.

    Nutella - delicious

    Nutella w/ orange - nice

    Pistachio - nice

    Something else I don't remember

You can refrigerate them if not eating them right away & take them out 20 minutes before eating.

    Tasty macarons!  Charge it!!

This place has a wide selection of macarons in all sorts of wild flavors.  For a place that specializes in macarons, I didn't think they were all that great.  While they get a plus for the selection.  They fail as I thought their macarons were a bit too chewy.  Hey, maybe some people like it chewy, but thats not my idea of a good macaron.

The only other time I had chewy macarons where what I deemed to be a not-fresh macaron from Financier.  I ordered five different flavors at one time and unfortunately one of them was chewy unlike the other ones which were soft and flakey.

Also ordered a chai tea, which came in a teabag.  If you charge like five bucks for a cup of tea, I expect more than a tea bag.  Not to mention that the water wasn't even warm so my tea bag didn't brew properly.  Then forget it when you put milk into the lukewarm water, you get a nasty concoction.

Have sampled several flavors and to-date the Caramel Fleur de Sel is my favorite.  Mango coconut, Pink Champagne & Cassis also very (very!) delicious.  Have not been to Laduree yet (not ready to brave that line) but would bet these come close to French macaroni perfection.

One of the widest / most creative selection of macarons! I love how their macarons are generously filled, and the uniquely named ones are such surprises to try!

My favorites are definitely the rose + lychee (seasonal poo :(), lavender and of course their classic caramel and chocolate ones!

Came here on a recommendation because we didn't want to risk a long wait at Laduree.

They have a very wide selection of macarons and the employees were very nice and patient while we decided what we wanted (bought four 5-packs as gifts and didn't feel rushed at all).

They're a bit on the expensive side in my opinion, especially their pastries and breakfast dishes. $9 for quiche? Come on... Their macarons vary in price depending on if you order them individually or in packages (and also depend on the type of package you order, i.e. how fancy the box is).

The macarons were A-OK good but nothing to-die-for. Maybe I'm just not a macaron person? Favorite was the pistachio, although I hear their currant is delicious as well.

I enjoy colorful, visually stimulating, aesthetically pleasing displays. Especially when I can consume them.

I appreciate how they try to combine flavors. I enjoy picking out unique flavors that you can't find at other macaron places. I have to say, though, the rose and caramel versions at Laduree are tastier.

Hot chocolate was thin and tasted like, dare I say it, Swiss Miss? I guess I can't complain much, since this isn't a hot chocolate place. It would've been perfect, though...

Thanks to Will C, I was not disowned by my family that night.

This is one of my first  adventure  at this locations, I have to say I am amaze with the how many favors they have from pink champaign , mango , fig and more.
Just one taste, of the mango I felt like I was taken to PR, sat under the palm tree, with a cup of mango slices enjoying the sun set.
    It was that good!
I know this was my first time here but it won't be my last .
Can't wait to bring  the. Boss & Dee I know. They will enjoy every bit. WoW there is a party going on and I do not wanted to stop. Until next time.

Nope, nope, nope--not at all like Laduree, Pierre Herme or Carette in Paris.  The macarons at this place are over-the-top-sweet.  The essential flavor of the treat is suffocated under a mountain of sugar.  I appreciate the effort (and will visit again next time I am in need a sugar rush) but just not at all reminiscent of what I had in Paris.

When I first heard about these confections from a friend some years ago, I said to her, "Macaroons?  Those awful coconut things we get at Passover?"

She replied, "No Stupid, macarons.  They're French."  Being that they seemed to be all the rage among "in the know" white people, I firmly decided to stay away, despite my love of sugar and baked goods.

So fast forward to a few weeks ago when I found myself walking down 23rd Street and happened upon La Maison du Macaron.  I still had yet to partake, but figured it was as good a time as any to see what the fuss was all about.

As far as baked goods go, they're fair enough.  I mean, two crunchy cookie type things with a half-creamy/half-gelatinous substance in the middle.  I mean, they were good, but not Girl Scout Thin Mints good or anything.  Tasty as they were, I failed to see what all the fuss was about.  I mean, it's good enough to go in and grab a quick something, but I wouldn't buy a box to impress my in-laws (my fictional in-laws, at that).  I believe I just said the same thing three different ways!

I did return a second time and was similarly well-enough satisfied, yet my socks remained unblown and on my feet.  I should mention that neither time did I encounter any of the ill will others have spoken of concerning the people behind the counter.

They were nice enough, no more no less -- just like the macarons.

    EDIT:

I just realized...these are nothing but whoopie pies.  They're fancified whoopie pies for people who are too much of a snob to buy something actually called a "whoopie pie."  I can't believe I didn't realize this earlier.

And I can't believe people actually fell for this.

A goddamn French whoopie pie.  We really are gullible.

First time trying macaroons. I dragged the husband here to try. We were pleasantly surprised, the macaroons are quite tasty. It has a chewy outside with a filling that is rich in flavor. Rose lychee, mango and pistachio are excellent. Rose lychee has such nice flavor of lychee in it. Definitely one of my favorites. It's expensive for $2.50 each. But its such a wonderful way to treat yourself after a long day!

For a post-dinner treat, my friend and I came here to satisfy our dessert cravings!

The interior was cute and the staff were reasonably friendly, for it was about 20 minutes before closing.

    Decent prices. 2.50 a pop
(I got the Pink champagne, Pistachio Grand Mariner, and a Cassis.)

For some reason I was not satisfied as I usually am by Bisous Ciao macarons. Maybe it was an off day for me. The flavors all tasted kind of.... artificial?
Anyway. Its much better than macaron cafe for sure.

Will go back to see if my opinion changes.

On our last visit to New York, my friends and I stumbled upon this place and decided to check it out, despite knowing that we were going to be getting macarons at Laduree later on that day. I'm sooo glad we did! Their macarons have got to be THE ABSOLUTE BEST macarons I've ever had! ( and with my sister being a classically trained French pastry chef, I've had my fair share of macarons!)

The texture, taste, size, and even the colors of these macarons were perfect! The cookies were the perfect amount of crunchy and firm on the outside and super soft & moist on the inside. And the fillings were flavorful, creamy and not too sweet. They had a really wide selection of flavors. The prices are a bit high, but thats expected (& totally worth it)..it's New York after all!

Forget Laduree, if I'm in New York, I'm getting my macarons from La Maison du Macaron!

************************This is for my 500th REVIEW!!!!****************************

It took me a while to convince myself that this little sweet pieces of Macarons are the Sexiest thing I've ever HAVE!. how did this happen??

A friend of mine came to visit me and brought a box of Macarons for herself, but she was so sweet to me, she offered one to me.  Inside the box was this sweet raimbow colors of pastries and I didn't know which one should Try.  But as soon as she mentioned the keyword "NUTELLA" My eyes went from chinky looking eyes to a "SURPRISED" Big Eyes! and Without a doubt, I grabbed the Nutella flavor.

I was afraid to make a big bit about it since I didn't know how sweet it was, incy bitcy bite gave me a great flavor or the sweet Nutella taste, specially with it smooth texture cream that melts in your mouth in seconds!.  Then I approached to make a bigger piece and it was truly HEAVEN!......

I decided to go the next day to the store on a FREAKING 15 degree weather!.  There was no line in there but recommended to get a ticket "JUST IN CASE" they are calling out by the numbers.  The lady was already by the cashier to offer her service.  So i ordered assorted pieces on macarons.  Each piece was about $ 2.50 and the size of the macaron is a bit larger than Maison du Chocolate and Bisous.

    Raspberry white chocolate
    Nutella
    Cassis
    Caramel (fleur de sel)
    Chocolate
    And more.....

Inside there store they have a extra back room with comfy chairs and sofa's for you to eat inside.  Also they offer pastries and hot drinks to enjoy the moment.

Oh Maison... i'll be thinking about you for a while....

In the past three years, there is only one place in NYC I have returned to every time I visit the city.  Regardless of where I am staying, what I am doing, how long I am there; La Maison du Macaron has not been missed.  I can't say that about any other establishment.

That is a testament to their macarons.  Last weekend, while getting macarons to take back to my daughters, I decided it was time to branch out and try something else in this cute little bakery...I went with the Almond croissant.

How was it?  Now I can't order almond croissants anywhere else for fear of disappointment.

This place is beautiful (The pastries I mean) and everything I had tasted perfect!

The macarons were different from what I had had before. I am not saying that is a bad thing at all and loved the fact that they had a bit different texture. They were slightly lighter and a bit smaller in size. Still all the flavors I have tried, I fell in love with. The texture, the new flavors, the shell, the buttercream, the everything was perfect. This place does a great job and I love their packing job. Fancy macaron boxes with a pretty bow. Great for gifts.

I have had the cassis, lemon (this one was a bit too sweet and had much much lemon taste for me but still loved it), rose (by far my favorite out of all the macarons i have ever had), caramel fleur de sel, cranberry, pistachio, chocolate, champagne (now this one is GOOD!), and raspberry I think.

I was greeted by the most wonderful ladies and they attended to everyone promptly with a nice smile. What a great staff.

They had other french pastries I have yet to try and everything just looked so fancy. They definitely don't just throw stuff together. Their eclairs stood out to me.

Wonderful French bakery, wonderful macarons, and great coffee.
I will be returning to La Maison du Macaron.

    Highly would recommend!

Plagued by the same hollow shell-weirdly tough sticky center that afflicts most US produced macarons. Yeah, they have lots of flavors that taste fine, but the texture is pretty off-putting. I ran into this problem at Kee's as well, and both of these places have been touted as having the best macarons in the city (before Laduree's arrival, of course).

I haven't had Maison du Chocolat, but in NY, Payard and Bouchon are the only places that remotely have a grasp on the proper texture for macarons. Laduree might not have as extensive a flavor list as it does in Paris, but they tasted as good here as they do there. Of course, if you find yourself on the other side of the pond, Herme and Hevin do it right. Just stay away from this place. I'm not sure what these are, but they're not macarons.

I've had macarons in both Paris & NYC.  I like the fact that La Maison du Macaron's version is not as sweet, which can be nauseous after I've had a few.  I also enjoyed the creative flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere.

It's a good thing that I don't live or work in that neighborhood, otherwise, I'll be in trouble.

I have come to the mecca of macarons! I wish that THIS was the place that I tried macarons for the first time. Its a typical macaron but not as sweet and a heck of a lot of flavors to offer up. Next up is to try their lattes, hot chocolate, etc. to see if this is now my new fav spot for Parisian sweets and caffeine libations.

AHH I love macarons!!! I came here for the first time with several friends during winter break... and to be honest, it was my very first macaron experience...i must say, though, of all the ones that I have tried so far...the macarons here ARE THE BEST!!

Service is a little eh... i think they need to smile a little more and be a bit more friendly, but that's just me.

Overall, if you are looking for tasteful, crunchy macarons, this is the place to go to! (and it's also a little cheaper than other macaron shops...) :)

This pace simply has the most delicious Macaron's I have ever tasted.

The array of choices and flavors is perfect and can fit to anyones pallet preferences. For a completely new taste try the pink champagne, for something that is a delicate contrast of flavors the strawberry tyme is a great choice, even for the boys there is a spiced bourbon to give something manly to this little treat.

This has become a part of my Sunday tradition that will not be replaced by something else.

Ah La Maison du Macaron. You get points for originality - but La Maison Laduree you are not.

The white russian, the Nutella the tiramisu, the Jack Daniels (Jack Daniels, really??) are all good efforts, but sometimes simple is better. At least that is what the hubby thinks - he is a macaron purist (give him a Laduree rosewater macaron and a cappuccino and the man thinks he died and went to heaven). I thought they were a nice effort but nothing I would ever order those flavors again.

The shop is cute and unassuming in my old 'hood - Chelsea. The service lacks that French flair that La Maison Laduree has - not snobby but upperclass. Ordering at La Maison du Macaron is like ordering at your local bakery. I will say they lose points for packaging. We had a 'casualty' when we got home. The cassis macaron was crushed - would not have happened at Laduree (and we have waited on that stinking line many times for our macaron fix!!). The cup of coffee I ordered was pretty good, but nothing to get crazy about.

The stand-outs were the vanilla, the (crushed) cassis, the after eight (chocolate mint) and the pistachio. The cookie on the caramel macarons was way too chewy. In several of the macarons, the filling oozed out, like in a whoopee pie. Not a quality I particularly care for in a macaron.

Like most macaron shops, it is pricey and we DID try every flavor they had.

In all fairness, this is probably the second best macaron shop in NYC (as we have been to several), but as I said earlier - it is not La Maison Laduree.

This place changed my mind about macarons, something that Laduree didn't do, but then again, the Laduree macarons I had were a few days old, which probably made a big difference.

    I tried the following flavors:

Nougat Lavender - I used to not be a lavender fan, but I could get seriously addicted to this.  Amazing balance of flavors.

Vanilla - Easily my favorite.  Lots of intensely vanilla filling.  I could eat these all day long.

Pistachio - Does not pack a punch like Ciao Bella gelato and Doughnut Plant's pistachio doughnut, but good.  I think there is better out there.

Cherry - first bite was waaay too strong, but probably because everything else I got was milder.  This one was excellent the next morning in bed.

Maple Milk Chocolate - Probably my least favorite.  Maple is a tough flavor to convey.

The waitstaff was friendly, but the hatchet-faced cashier barely acknowledged my presence and didn't say a word to me.  Being thanked for my business plays a huge part in my decision to return or not.  Call me old fashioned, but just because I can afford to shop at your store doesn't mean you are entitled to my business.

My name is Alyssa and I ate my first macaroon today.

And man, have I been missing out.

We received a box of La Maison macaroons today from a vendor and immediately dove in.  I picked up the raspberry white chocolate.  It. was. Awesome.  Light, airy, and a little bit sweet.  For not having had a macaroon before I thought this was perfect.

    My coworkers agreed:

Vanilla Caramel: ::mouth full::  "Oh. My. Gosh."
    Pistachio: "Oooh this is good.."
    Chestnut: "...really nice and creamy"
Passion Fruit: ::smiles:: "where is this place again?"
Strawberry: "So pretty!  And just the right amount of sweetness"
Boysenberry/something*: "Ooo its just a little bit tart. But really good. And it's purple!"

I know people have been having macaroons for a while now... and as of today I'm definitely hopping on the train.  Choo Choo.
