Review from Dave R.
Hamilton, ON
One of my most-visited restaurants in Ontario. Located directly across from the Masonic Centre at King/Queen in Hamilton, the interior boasts 2 large rooms, both equipped with a fire place. Pictures of Lebanon adorn the walls, and they're always playing that cheesy Eastern music that sounds like it's from the end of a romantic Bollywood flick. The servers and hostesses have always been consistent 7s on the hotness scale.
The food is so cheap, you'll wonder if you're in the right place. Seriously, $6 for a beef shawarma, a shish tawook (chicken shawarma), AMAZING falafel, or shish kebob. A huge helping of fattoush or tabouli is $7, and most of the apps are $8. Appetizers like spicy potatoes, lemon-garlic mushrooms, deep fried cauliflower and tomato, and modemmes (my favourite). The main entrees are a bit pricier at an average of $20, so we tend to stick to a salad, a sandwich and a few apps to share around the table. Their house red wine has always been tasty (I'm not sure what it is, I should ask) and they have a few microbreweries on tap (seems to be a running trend with my reviews). They do have a Canadian section of the menu for the less adventurous types, but I haven't tried it, for the same reason that I wouldn't order a steak and kidney pie from a Chinese food place.
While it's a touch out of the downtown core, it's not a terribly far walk away, and it's quite close to Hess village. I will mention that the parking is balls. -

hmm. That's all I can say. I used to ride the La Luna train back in the day but now I'm starting to wonder about this place. Went there the other day to just get a simple meal for three; two falafels, a shawarma, tabbouleh salad and tahini salad. It was ok. It wasn't great. It wasn't THAT cheap. It was just ok. And it's in a ridiculously ugly building. Mind you the service was great.
Anyway, I've already contradicted myself because in another post about the Casbah I called this the best falafel anywhere. It's pretty good. But it's also gotten just a bit too expensive. -

The BEST falafel sandwich in the world. I now compare all falafel to La Luna, and have not found anything like it. Actually, few even come remotely close. Lebanese food, a lot of vegan items, and the best falafel sandwich. I have seriously considered asking my Canadian relatives to make the trip to Hamilton from Toronto each time they visit me in Chicago, just to bring me a sandwich. The only reason I have not, is because I don't think it would survive the trip.

Best falafel sandwich i've ever had. Reasonably priced. Don't accept debit.

While the decor leaves much to be desired, the food here is consistently good and the portions are huge (a "side salad" could easily be a meal). But I have to say that the prices for dinner are quite high for what you are getting. $20 for a vegetarian plate? (salad, hummus, babaghanoush, pita bread, grilled veggies).

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Hamilton, we use to treat ourselves as students to dinner here every once in a while! The food is excellent (a nice change from the boston pizza, eastsides type places that are so popular amongst students). As another reviewer noted their falafel is fantastic. Great service and a really nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit!

Went to this place for lunch. The sandwiches were very reasonable. The schwarema was very good. Service and atmosphere were fantastic. Not good for a quick lunch, but not too long. Would definitely be willing to return.
