Review from Kris B.
I used La Jardinere as the florist for our wedding at Ancaster Old Mill a year and a half ago, and they did an amazing job. Everyone complimented the arrangements and bouquets at our wedding and I *still* get compliments on the flowers when the topic of our wedding comes up now! I could not be more pleased with the professionalism and warmth of the staff here, or with how lovely our wedding flowers were. It was such a pleasure to work with La Jardinere, and what's more, the price was very reasonable!
When I went to visit La Jardinere the first time, it was after frustrating visits to a few other local flower shops. I was very busy, both with work and all sorts of other wedding planning, and I wanted to efficiently get some basic information from a few florists so that I could choose a florist fairly quickly. One shop I visited refused to give me any kind of ballpark figures for the kind of thing I wanted unless I first put down a deposit to reserve them as my florist! A couple of others quoted me rather outrageous prices once they knew we were having our wedding at the Old Mill - even before they had a clear idea of what we wanted! Another couldn't arrange to meet with me for a couple of weeks, nor even give me any information at all until I'd met with a wedding floral designer. Most florists offered only a very narrow selection of flowers, and were just trying to sell me a kind of cookie-cutter set of wedding flowers with little regard for what I wanted. (I wanted a modern/Asian look to the arrangements, as well as rosehips and also some kind of fragrant flower that would also fit into the autumn color palette I had in mind for the floral arrangements - my requests weren't too exotic or particular, but other florists had told me it would be difficult or impossible to get what I wanted.) After a few rounds of this, I was unhappy that what should have been such a fun and fairly simple thing to arrange was turning out to be so difficult and irksome.
La Jardinere, though, was a different story! They had a table I could sit at to browse all sorts of pictures of different wedding and other special event bouquets, and someone was available to talk to me in fairly short order. Tyler looked at a few pictures I'd brought in, as well as a few things I liked in their photo albums, and he quickly got a good feel of the style we were looking for, suggesting how the different floral elements I liked could be pulled together into an overall style I loved. He made some great suggestions about different kinds of readily available seasonal flowers that might give us the look (and fragrant smell!) we wanted, and he was able to suggest options that we'd like in a variety of price ranges. I left with a real mental picture (and if I remember correctly, a few little sketches!) of what our centerpieces and bouquets might look like, and a clear idea of the prices for various options. Don, the owner, quickly followed up with a more detailed emailed quote based on my conversation with Tyler, and the quote he gave me was completely consistent with the initial consultation.
Based on the excellent customer service we got from the get-go with Tyler and Don, we were happy to choose them as our wedding florist. Their excellent communication in the weeks leading up to our wedding only made us happier with our choice - we never worried about anything with them. Once they knew what we wanted, they paid attention to all the details so we didn't have to. Don actually emailed to let me know he had touched base with a few suppliers to make sure he could get rosehips, and thanks to his hard work, he was able to get them! When we had to add a few more things to our order within a week of the wedding, they cheerfully accommodated us. When we came in to pay our balance before the wedding, Don actually offered me a few extra bunches of rosehips in case I wanted them for decorating - so thoughtful of him! We ended up decorating the bird cage for cards with them, and it looked great! The bridesmaids also used the rosehips to decorate their hair.
We were so thrilled when we saw how beautiful the bouquets and arrangements were! The gold freesia they had suggested smelled amazing and went perfectly with the rich autumn colors of the other flowers, and all the flowers were so fresh and so gorgeously arranged. All in all, it was wonderful and easy to work with the staff at La Jardinere, and I could not have been more pleased with the finished product. Thank you!
