This place is great and I can't wait to go back!
Went with my family and fiancee and we all had the 22$ choice of 2 out of 3 (appetizer, entree, or dessert) we all chose an appetizer and entree. The food was declicious. I had the butternut squash pasta (forget the exact name) which was delicious as my entree and the PEI mussels as an appetizer and both were amazing. Portions were reasonable did not leave hungry.
For our group of 5 we were given 2 loaves of their rosemary loaf and it was also great.
The wait was not long and the atmosphere was great. Our server was excellent on top of refills and removing dishes in a good way.
The rest of the table enjoyed their roasted chicken, ceaser salad, scallops, and veal. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic evening out or a nice evening out with friends. Wine list is extensive and I enjoyed that as well.

La Forchetta (pronounced La Fork-etta in Italian, meaning the fork!) is right in the middle of Little Italy; it is a relatively small (maybe seats 40-50?), family owned authentic Italian restaurant. Our very nice waitress said it's been open for 15 years and everything they serve is house made; that olive oil drenched bread was seriously delicious! It is dimly lit with very nice contemporary chandeliers and there is a real candle on every table. It has windows across the front, a mirrored side wall (it may have been a smoked mirror) and a small bar at the back. The kitchen is not quite an open kitchen at the back, it has a medium sized opening so you can see the action should you choose (even the kitchen's lighting is subdued so that there isn't a rush of fluorescent streaming in). There are two Green P public parking lots near by and there is street parking if you're lucky enough!)

When we got there at 7:30 and it wasn't full but as the evening progressed it got a great vibe with more people. The young one's started coming in around 9ish! We reserved through Open Table and they actually had a table "reserved" for us! Even though we only had 'two' courses our waitress timed our food perfectly, we didn't finish until after 9:30.

We shared the Caesar salad; it was chopped Romain lettuce, with a small bit of crispy fried prosciutto and lots of finely grated Parmesan and a few house made croutons. The dressing was perfect, just the right creaminess with a hint of the anchovy and a nice splash of lemon juice. It was really delicious (although, if I had to complain about something it would have been that the Romain was cut into too small bits). I ordered the grilled calamari with caper berries and grilled lemon and green zucchini with a chipotle mango coulis (very delicious) and it was a decent portion for my dinner. We also ordered the slightly unorthodox sweet potato gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce; it was the perfect combination of Gorgonzola and cream, it had just the right amount of bite! We thought it was one of the best we've ever had. I think this restaurant is a keeper! They also had several wines for less than $50 a bottle and their half litre was reasonably priced too!

Fav Italian in town so far. Love their rosemary bread. Great veal risotto. Best tiramisu I've tried yet. A little on the pricey side but it's worth it for a treat!

Coming from NY, it's hard for me to like Italian food elsewhere, but this place was actually pretty good!

It was dimly lit and romantic, and they had a "Reserved" sign on our table when we walked in (made an OpenTable reservation).

All of the food was really tasty, and we had some special with pasta, chick peas, artichoke hearts, chicken, and a bunch of other ingredients that actually worked very well together.

The service was great and my girlfriend and I really enjoyed ourselves.

I am tempted to give them 1 star for their extremely poor service. Their food would have been really delicious if it wasn't for the obvious piece of rubber I found in my dish (which by the way they tried to blame me for). Not only did he take my dish away (I wasn't finished), they did not take it off our bill, they didn't give us a discount, no new dish, heck not even a genuine apology.

Dined here on Jan 4, 2011 for dinner. At 8pm, a few days past New Year, a Tuesday, the place was a third filled, where many in the strip were empty or not even open. A truly great experience. The food excellent - we shared the Goat Cheese Filled Portobello Cap, the warm goat cheese - fantastic, I had the Australian Rack of Lamb - cooked to perfection, my date had Strozzapreti con Pollo - the chic peas don't do much for me aside from the texture, but the sauce was great, for desert we shared the Tiramisu, I think they must have given us a double portion. Everything was done to perfection, the portions were more then enough and the service was excellent. If you want to impress someone without being pretentious and want to avoid the trendy spots, I highly recommend La Forchetta.
