Beth and I hit this place recently with a groupon and ate our faces off at a discount. So firstly I wanna say thanks to La Fiesta Cafe for participating in the groupon thing.

Anyway, the food was good. I really enjoyed the tortilla soup. I wound up taking some leftovers of it on the ferry the next day and it was STILL really delicious, even microwaved. The Mexican fries were basically tater tots with salsa to dip them in and usually I might call that tacky but they were delicious so I can't complain.

We had a massive, tasty lunch that wasn't expensive at all. I can't wait to go back to La Fiesta.

La Fiesta's food tastes like the Mexican food a decent home cook using Old El Paso taco seasoning would make.

I would rarely go there previously, because a burrito would set you back about $10, and despite their size, I find it hard to pay $10 for a burrito as a native Californian.

However, La Fiesta has lowered its Burrito prices to $5.49, making it a palatable option if your dining companion wants a burrito with cheese and you want something quick.

    And the staff is super-friendly.

The food here was alright..nothing to write home about really. Just your typical mexican american fast food stuff. Good to hit the hunger spot.

What turned me off was the service. The people behind the counter (other than the nice woman manning the till) were total jerks. Its like I was offending them by giving them my business. From the looks of things behind the counter they were also not exactly following food safe procedures. Money handling and food handling with your bare hands don't mix no matter how busy you are!

There are approximately 10 Mexican restaurants in Victoria.  Few are authentic, but hey, you're not exactly close to the border.  La Fiesta Cafe is nothing short of phenomenal near-authentic Mexican "fast-food."

The service is always genuinely pleasant.  The ingredients are as fresh as they get, and everything is prepared right there in front of you, quite quickly.

They have a salsa bar with around 6 different choices.  The corn salsa is a great addition to the tacos when you require a few extra nutrients.

Your best bet is to go in with an empty stomach because the burritos, chimichangas and most wraps are as big as the average persons forearm.  Pair that with their delectable Mexi-Fries and you have a winning combination. My favourite is the Veggie Chimichanga or Burrito, because the quantity and variety of vegetables they stuff inside the wraps are more than what is recommended we eat throughout the course of a day- awesome!

The atmosphere is lack-luster, with limited seating indoors, but there's plenty of room outside.  Otherwise, they thankfully no longer use styrofoam, so the takeout containers are fully recyclable (or can be tossed in the oven for a quick reheat when you get home).

I ate there on average once a week when I lived near-by and still crave the Mexican-Fries daily... is that saying something?

La Fiesta is pretty good for what it is. It's not going to blow anyone away with fully authentic and varied dishes or have top-tier product. What it does have going for it is all of the following:  Portions are large, pricing is reasonable, location is central, ingredient quality seems consistently decent, service times are short, you can get it delivered through dine-in Victoria and they keep good hours. Victoria seems to have pretty limited high quality Mexican food but if you're downtown and have the munchies for some Mexican, you'll be sure to leave satisfied.

Note to La Fiesta owner: Habanero salsa is NOT the hottest pepper salsa in the world (and to be honest, your habanero salsa isn't even that hot), world's hottest honour belongs to the Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Chili which is in the range of 3 to 10 times hotter than the Habanero.

I totally forgot about La Fiesta until I came across it while scrolling the Victoria listings. It's reasons like this that make me enjoy this site so much.

This is some of the best Mexican food you'll ever eat. While I was living there it came highly recommended by the locals that I knew and they were absolutely right. I would always get the chicken chimichanga it was massive AND massively delicious. I can't emphasize enough just how good this place is.

Big portions of freshly made, delicious Mexican food. Sure, it's a little on the Tex-mex side, but it's really good. A chimichanga and chips is enough to feed two people. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. My favourite part has to be the fresh salsa bar, ranging from sweet and fresh corn-onion salsa to cooked salsa like green tomatillo, mild tomato and burning-good habanero. Good stuff, and inexpensive. Bring an appetite.

Every time I eat here I order to same thing: Chicken burrito.

But let me tell you, that is a d4mn good burrito. The chicken is well cooked, not over-done like at some places. The thing is huge and I usually skip lunch the next day because I'm still not hungry, seriously. There is a good selection of salsas and guacamole. It is served with fresh crunchy taco chips.

This is about as good as you're going to get for burritos in Canada. It's better than many Bay Area burrito places. If you know of a better place for burritos in Vic let me know.

Victoria is not a hotbed for Mexican food by any stretch of the imagination, but this place is pretty good and authentic. The portions are quite large, especially the burritos. The ingredients are fresh. The plates are not particluarly spicy, but there are a number of salsas that one can use to spice it up a little. None of them are really hot, but pretty good for the average Victorian's palate. The "mexi-fries" are great. They're just tater tots with spices, but it works. The only complaints are that it is a little expensice for what you get. Sure the burritos are big, but expect to pay at least $10. Also, the service an be a bit slow, especially if it's crowded. Finally, I once got a chicken burrito that was cold. Overall though, it's a good Mexican joint in a city with a dearth of good Mexican joints.
