Amazing! Portions are incredibly big and yet the prices are so low. It's a steal for the amount of food you get! Bonus: everything tastes fresh and delicious. They even make their own pasta, which is hard to find at Italian restaurants sometimes.
Appetizer: lobster ravioli -- the pink sauce it comes with is heavenly!
Main Course: Fettuccine Alfredo- tasty, but the sauce needs something to kick it up a bit. Vegetarian Pizza- wow! Fresh, not greasy, thin crust and just enough cheesy. Gnocchi with arbiatta (spicy tomato) sauce and chicken-- FABULOUS! highly recommend, though it is definitely spicy!
Quick tip: Parking: they validate parking for the garage over near the haymarket t stop. you'll have to walk 2-3 blocks, but at $3 for a parking space, it's worth it! -

Great food. HUGE PORTIONS! Friendly service.
With so many places to choose from in the north end, I was glad we chose this one. Better be hungry or at least prepared to bring home leftovers. -

Hells to the yes Georgio's.
For $12-$15 you get three meals worth of delicious carbo-loaded cheesy sauce covered goodness.
I generally just get pasta with one of the bazillion sauce choices and my boyfriend always gets the lasagna, then we share.
Their sodas come in glass bottles (which sadly means no free refills), but did you know that Coke tastes the best when it comes from a glass bottle? Science fact.
Service has always been great. I kinda get the Italian mob vibe sometimes, but not in a bad way.
Oh, and 20% discount to college students with a valid university ID. -

I'm not even kidding- this is probably the best Italian food I've ever eaten. I stayed in Brighton last summer, and found excuses to visit this restaurant three different times. Considering the hour long journey, it might seem like a bit of a distance to travel for pasta. However, get their lunch special and tell me a weekly journey isn't necessary. In particular, the seafood and ossobucco are delicious.

We were deciding on a place to eat at in the North End and saw the Yelp deal so we gave it a try. Solid place. Portions were huge huge huge. I got a ravioli and it was fresh and you could tell the sauce was homemade. I asked to add some chicken, and they probably added half a pound of chicken on there. Wife got a cheese lasagna and she liked it alot. Another friend got some fish and she thought it was good. It was a ton of food and was very fairly priced. Service was a little slow, that was the only drawback. Would definitely come back.

My husband and I went to lunch here on a rainy afternoon. We received a warm greeting and a cozy table. The lunch specials were phenomenal. You could actually sample all of them or just a few. What a great idea! The tomato sauce is made with love. The homemade lasagna was my favorite. The portions are HUGE! It was a great find. We have been talking about it ever since. Can't wait to go back!

What else can I say that hasn't already been said? I'm really only reviewing it because it deserves five stars. This place is awesome, I always make my sister take me here whenever I come to Boston and I always order the same thing - ravioli with Rosa sauce (marinara + creme). I also like the bread and olive oil, so simple yet so delicious. My mouth is watering as I sit here in Hawai'i, typing this review! I wish there was a way to bring home the food from here.
We always have great service and leave feeling full and happy. So glad my sister introduced me to the La Famiglia! -

La Famiglia Giorgio's food is amazing and portions are huge, making it an excellent value. Their menu, which is extensive and organized, is one of the best I've ever seen. The food menu contains wine suggestions for each dish, number-coded to match descriptions in the wine list. Also, the menu offers food challenges like those on The Food Network shows! Coca-Cola comes in glass bottles, every customer is given a large glass of water that is constantly refilled without request, and servers have a sense of humor! The decor and atmosphere are great; wall-paintings of Italian landscapes, a wood tile ceiling, and relevant music make customers feel like they're in the old-country.....a must try if you're in the North End!

The North End can be pretty hit and miss when it comes to authentic Italianness. Some places - like the Salumeria - are veramente autentici, full of yammering Italians buying prosciutto and little pieces for their broken Bialetti espresso makers. Other places are a bit more Disney.
This place, unfortunately, hit all the wrong notes with me. While the space itself was low-lit and pretty nice (and its location is an easy peasy walk from Haymarket), I just felt like I was being chugged through a factory of Mamma Mia, A-Welcome to Italia! (Note: I am Italian.) The laminated menus. The accordion player riffing on The Godfather theme at each table. (If there's one thing you can do to irritate Italians: romanticize the mafia.) The mix-and-match pasta selection (normally, sauces are associated with specific pasta types - penne all' arrabbiata, spaghetti alle vongole). My carbonara pasta, pounds of food loaded with a sort of creamy, mayonnaisey white sauce... wasteful, unhealthy, and definitely not anything resembling actual carbonara. And I paid $30+ for the privilege!
But, most egregiously, this is not Italian, anymore than the Olive Garden is. -

Huge portions, homemade pasta, great service. What more could you ask for?
Without a doubt, this has to be the most affordable place to get delicious Italian in the North End. The prices are completely reasonable, plus they'll give you 10% off your check if you have a student ID. The sausage calabrese with fresh fusilli is my favorite, but their chicken parm and calamari fra diavolo are also top-notch. I've had their antipasto appetizer a couple times, which is delicious as well. You'll leave with a meal or two. -

Food is great. Portions are huge. Dinners are reasonably priced. Grandma and I both got Gnocchi. It was homemade and delicious. There was lots of left-overs to take home. Service was prompt. We got the $20 dinner special with wine+salad+dinner+canoli=good value.
Portions are more like family size so we recommend ordering various entres and share family style. -

4 1/2 stars! What a great surprise. No hype, just outstanding cuisine, decor, and appropriate, relaxing, subtle, Italian music in the background. They have the best, most perfectly spiced, Fra Diavolo I have ever tasted. (46-yr old-well traveled..) It went so well with their generous Frutti di Mare on waitress (the Auntie!) recommended fresh angel hair pasta. I didn't add any parm, or mess with the flavor profile in any way--because it was "just right." A lot of Yelpers tout the "value" quotient here (and it's true), but come here because they execute some of the best Roman-inspired Italian--tweaked toward American tastes, ever so slightly--that you will find at any Italian restaurant in America. The house Italian red wine (I think the owner's favorite, as noted on menu) went perfectly with my meal. / What was so good about my dinner, was the fact that it got better and better with every bite. The, "Wow, that is really good," came to mind after about 5-wonderful fork-filled bites. --I hope you have a similar experience.

As a poor college student living in the North End I lived 2 doors down from La Famiglia, I would have starved if it were not for them. They are the real Italian deal in the North End not only for their food but their incredible hospitality that goes beyond good service. They make you feel like family, plain and simple. The portions are huge, the food is simple, and genuine, nothing fancy. If you are looking for haute cusine, this is not the place.

This is the only restaurant in the North End that I have been to more than once (3x actually.) The food is great, the portions are huge, and it's moderately priced.
The ambiance is small and cozy and everyone that works there has always been friendly. Unlike some other restaurants on Hanover where they pimp the place out in Italian memorabilia and photos to the point where it's absurdly tacky, Famiglia Giorgio's is just cozy and inviting (yes I know I've said cozy twice so sue me.)
Ah the food. I have never left this place empty handed. I always have at least dinner for the next day, usually more like 2 days depending on what I ordered. This truly is family style dining. It's great to have everyone at your table order something different and try everything. Some people complained about the charge for sharing plates but if these people had half a brain they would realize that for the same price they charge for sharing ($7.95) you could just order yourself an appetizer or salad and share with others. I've tried multiple items on their menu but their garlic bread with cheese and pizza are the standouts. The oil and herb mixture they make at the table for dipping is sooooo good too. The prices are lower than most places I've seen in the north end, and you get twice as much food. They also have a decent sized wine list.
I used to recommend Al Dente as my favorite in the north end, but I think this will be my new recommendation from now on. A word of advice to anyone that doesn't know the area well, or is visiting. Avoid Hanover Street unless you have a specific restaurant you are going to. Most of the tourist traps are on that street with some really, really bad Italian food. Salem Street is parallel to it and has a good restaurants, including the two I've mentioned here, and Antico Forno -

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a big fan of Italian food, however, there are other places in the North End that I like a lot. My girlfriend and I came here using the Yelp deal. If we didn't have the Yelp deal, I would not have come here especially because it's expensive for what it is. I had the lobster raviolis and a side of meatballs just because I wanted to try them. My girlfriend had angel hair pasta with pesto sauce. The meatballs were OK. The raviolis were OK. The pasta was OK. if it weren't for having the deal I would have felt completely ripped off. It's overprice (in my opinion). The waiters were great and so was the ambiance.

Review from Dawn P.
We got there right on time. There was 1 table left and right after we sat down, the restaurant grew really busy.
Ambiance: small, quaint, cozy, casual
Food: Garden salad, lunch 5 entree sampler.
Taste: The sampler came with eggplant parmigian, stuffed shell, chicken marsala, beef something and spaghetti something. We loved everything except for the stuffed parmigian. The dish was a bit oily but it was enough to feed 2 people easily. They do have a policy where everyone should order something.
Price: $6.95 for sampler and $3.95 for ceasar salad.
Service: Our waiter was very nice and helpful even though they were busy.
If I am in the area again I would def visit this place again. -

Wandering the North End and appalled at some of the prices posted around the neighborhood I remarked outloud without thinking something snarky about how pricy it was. As luck would have it a passerby overheard me and suggested a number of places, La Famiglia Giorgio's among them. She said to avoid the touristy places--while some are good--and that there were deals to be had. Glad we took her advice!
I ordered eggplant Parmesan, my dining companion ordered lasagna, and it ended up being the only things we ate the entire day. An enormous amount of food. I had to take a double-take at the bill since it was so cheap--lunch prices, but dinner wasn't that much more expensive. Best part was everything was sooooo good! I would eat here again, and I see why it's won over the locals. -
Review from Annie S.
After much Yelping, I decided to have part one of my sister's bachelorette party here. I spoke with Jodi who set up the 18 person reservation without any problems.
It's been years since I've really been to the North End, which surprisingly makes Little Italy look even more touristy than it already is. I love Salem street and the European vibe it gives off.
The restaurant itself is two floors and has a very warm and inviting feeling. The lighting is perfect and has a vibe that can work for families or for dates. We were greeted and sat promptly without any backlash (we were an hour late thanks to our party bus...). Jodi ended up being our server and she was very friendly and accomodating.
I had read reviews that the portions are huge, yada yada yada, but seriously they are MASSIVE. I was starving and barely made a dent into my chicken primavera with linguine. The sauce, veggies and chicken were great, but I was a bit disappointed that the pasta was not only not al dente, it was actually quite soft. I hate soft pasta and linguine should not be soft at all. Regardless, still a solid meal and everyone else enjoyed theirs, as well. Like I said, I rarely make it into the North End, but I will be back if the opportunity arises.
P.S. They have gluten-free pasta available. -

It's often hard to decide where to eat in the north end, because there are hundreds of restaurants and all of the menus tend to look more or less the same....but we decided on this place last night, and it was definitely the right decision.
The atmosphere is just right; it's always busy, but it doesn't feel hectic or crowded because of how the tables are laid out. The service is fast, and friendly. We ordered drinks and the caprese appetizer, both of which came out within a few minutes of ordering. The caprese was simple and delicious, especially with the bread and dipping oil they put on your table. I also ordered pasta e fagioli soup, which was brought out as soon as we finished our app. You could tell it was homemade, and it was super tasty.
Our food came out quickly after. We got manicotti bolognese and the shrimp and scallop linguini with alfredo. The portions are huge. There's no way one person could finish a plate. It is obviously meant to be shared, yet the prices are no more than a single serving at another restaurant. One entree was 15 dollars and the other was 20, and, even sharing, we only managed to finish about half of each, Both, however, were absolutely delicious. They dont skimp on the seafood or the meat sauce, and the homemade pasta is tender and delicious. I could eat here regularly, although I would probably go into a food coma.
I highly recommend checking this place out; I will be back for sure.1 Previous Review: Show all »

$6.95 for a lunch sampler of 5 different entrees? And huge portions? Sign me up in this crazy expensive town! I'm a fan.
our favorite was the lobster ravioli (4 pieces for an appetizer), & the eggplant parmesan in the lunch sampler. The other lunch items, the ricotta lasagna, blue cheese spaghetti, and chicken, were just okay. Service was super, & the open street view was so.nice for lunch.
Definitely a great lunch deal in boston. -

I went to La Famiglia Giorgio's with a friend for lunch hoping to use the yelp deal, nope, it wasn't accepted for lunch. :( the deal also said not applicable to Friday or Saturday meals, and then the waitress tells us that you can use it during the evenings and on weekend evenings...
Anyways, we both ordered the Thursday special, which samples 5 different entrees and a side of garlic bread. Sadly, the garlic bread was the star of the meal. our plate of food was huge! But it was ladled in oil and tasteless. The pasta was not al dente nor did the whole thing look appetizing at all. Most certainly it was a deal for $7, but most definitely I would have preferred quality over quantity.
I still have a yelp deal sitting in my pocket, so hopefully dinner will be a more fulfilling experience. -

Went for the first time last night. I have to say I was a little nervous bc of some other reviews. But I ended up with a great meal.
We had a 7p reservation for 14 people. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, making dishes to our specifications even if it wasn't on the menu. The accordion player came over and played one tue which was nice, and perfect since it was loud andsomething I would not have wanted to have to yell over while catching up with old friends.
Food came out at a reasonable time, all together. I had maryanns favorite (penne and marinara with 2 meatballs). Pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, the sauce was not oily but flavorful and hearty, a good basic italian sauce. The meatballs were average, nothing wrong with them, just standard meatballs.
My water was never less than half full, which I appreciate immensely. The prices are totally reasonable. The food is basic, nothing fancy or over the top, just your tasty basics, although they do have close to 20 different sauces to choose from!
North end has high standards, as it should. I have to say this place was very good, not the best or a stand out.
all in all a tasty experience, id return, and id recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a low key italian meal. -
Review from Nicole R.
I went to La Famiglia Giorgio back in April or so and had a great experience. Sadly when going last Friday i didn't have the same sort of experience. When i went in April we ordered the Calamari with hot peppers on the side for our appetizer which was hot and tasted great. For my lunch i ordered the penne and marinara which was also pretty great.
When i went back last Friday the calamari came out cold, rubbery and they decided to fry the hot peppers which didn't really give the same effect as before. It was pretty odd because there were only 2 tables of patrons there at the time so i would think I'd get hot fresh food. I ordered the eggplant and penne which was sitting in about 1/4 cup of oil at the bottom of the plate. After attempting to siphon off the large amount of oil i was a little grossed out. The food was tasteless and boring. The portions of food they give here are really big. However, i think I'd prefer quality over quantity and that's definitely the opposite of what happened here during my second visit.
I'm not sure what happened in the last 5 months... but i don't like it. There are too many other places to visit in the North End with better prices and better quality. Consistency is a must.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I went to La Famiglia Girogios on Saturday night to kick off a bachelorette party. I made the reservations a couple weeks ago, they called me that day to verify everything, which I thought was nice.
We sat right down when we got there. (They even let us sit without our whole party there). There were 11 of us there, and it was a pretty good experience for that large of a group. Beverages came out in a timely manner as did the apps then food.
Most got their own dishes, but I split the scallops app (OMG YUM) and the chicken marsala with a friend. it was pretty good, and we didn't mind paying a little extra to share.
Our waitress was really nice and very attentive. We had a few teachers with us and a student so we got the 20% off a few. It was very reasonible and a great place to go in a group. I have had better food at other North End Restaurants but this had a family-like atmosphere. I will definitly head back there. -

LOVE LA FAMIGLIA!
I have gone numerous times and always have a wonderful experience. It is exceptional cozy, and sweet inside. I love sitting near the fireplace in the winter! Auntie has been my server a few times and I love her, she is a riot! The parmesan/oil mixture they give with the bread before the meal is delicious! I can't get enough of it. I have had different pasta dishes, chicken dishes, and their veal and have yet to have a poor experience! The food prices seem to be somewhat steep when you first glance at the menu, but the amount of food you get is insane! I have ordered a meal, taken the leftovers home and gotten two more meals out of the left overs! It's crazy! It is one of my favorite spots in the North End! -

This place would have gotten 4 stars if it hadn't been for the service. Our waitress was not the best - tried to rush us to order and was not friendly at all. The food was good. They give you bread before dinner and the meals are HUGE. Very reasonably priced for the portions.

The 20% college student discount is only good for entrees. Minimum one appetizer (at least $7.50) or entree per person or you pay $7.50 for plate sharing.
They have the most amazing bread dip... olive oil with red pepper flakes, Romano cheese, and probably other tasty additions.
Everything we got was delicious:
- Mozzarella garlic bread (it's worth getting it with mozzarella, especially to make the minimum order)
- Caprese (slices of tomato, mozzarella, and basil
- Veal Saltimbocca with linguine
- Chicken Marianna with penne (a good pasta choice because this dish is more piece-y, so it mixes well)
The four of us ate a lot, and it still looked like we hadn't even touched our two entrees. This place is a great deal when you consider you're getting an extra meal (or more) to take home! -

The food was heavenly, I had a pasta dish (name of item forgotten) that had jalapeno sauce, mushrooms, chicken, and a thick rich tomato sauce. There was an excellent complexity of flavor and I absolutely cannot wait to try another dish at my new favorite Italian restaurant in Boston.
The selection of wines by the glass was excellent with a lot more than 20 varieties of vino available by the glass. -

have been back twice, and it has been amazing both times. The bruschetta is to die for. Best I've ever had--even has my daughter eating fresh tomatoes that she says usually taste like dirt to her. I don't have to go to any other North End restaurant any more. This is my favorite, the one I bring everyone to when they come to visit. The thing is that I always worry about telling people about this restaurant because I want to keep it to myself. But secrets are bound to get out sooner or later. This restaurant isn't nearly as busy as it could be with tourists because it's not on Hanover but the street over on Salem, tucked away from most tourists. And they always accommodate our big groups (even if there is like 18 of us).
They start you off with olive oil and bread. I enjoy this very much because they have the perfect portions of chili pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. They also provide butter but I rarely see people use it.
I always get the chicken picatta. The portions in this place are so massive. I usually have enough food for two meals. Even people that I know don't like Italian food like the food here. The atmosphere is very family oriented. People are comfortably noisy) and the staff is friendly, like family. They can even make your dish custom for you, you choose the noodles (homemade) or ravioli, sauces, etc.
I've definitely had moments where I was frustrated, like when I have a hard time getting a water refill or that one time we waited 2 hours for a table even though we had a reservation, but the thing is that we put up with it because we love it. We know that the pay off is completely worth it.
They have a student discount. Make sure everyone in your party brings their student ID.
ALWAYS MAKE A RESERVATION, they get really really busy. They can often sit us at last minute but I like having that safety net. -

Hysterical experience!
Now, I gave them an extra star because we did go there on the same day as the Bruins Victory parade, but seeing as we were the first ones to enter, their stress level shouldn't have been as high as it was.
It seems to be a family owned business, and our waitress was a nut case!
She brought us water's right away, which was nice seeing as we had trucked over to the North End to find a place to eat.
She maybe let us look at our menu for 5 minutes before we were rushed into order something. She was very abrupt, and starred me down when I said I wasn't ready and was frustrated when I asked her to repeat the specials.
A pregnant friend I was with asked for more bread with our meals and the waitress replied "are you serious??" in which she replied, "YES"
Also, in my plate of spaghetti and meatballs that I was forced into ordering I received one meatball and one sausage.
Then was hovered over when finished eating so they could rush us out.
BEST PART OF THE MEAL.
A table left without tipping our terrible waitress and she yelled something loudly in Italian and ran out the restaurant to find her tip.
NO LIE
That made it worth it.
Anyways, definitely a meal I wont forget! -

I had dinner last night with my girlfriend and was both thrilled and releived. It seems that every restaurant in the North End claims to have the best Italian food. Just like there are different parts of the USA, I know there are different parts of Italy and for people who say "this isn't Italian" I'll bet they haven't been everywhere. Anyhow, the 5 star rating is as much for the atmosphere as the food. It is easy to feel rushed when eating in the North End of Boston as there is no end to the foot traffic. I didn't make reservations but was seated promptly on a Sunday at 5pm. It soon got a lot busier but the service never slowed down for us. Drinks, apps, and entrees all showed up when we expected them. The two most notable things about this restaurant (aside from the wonderful taste of the food) was the way the pasta wasn't overcooked, and the chairs. The chairs are wooden with padded seats that are comfortable, but don't put you to sleep. For some reason I must not have noticed how uncomfortable other restaurant chairs have been.
It was nice to just relax and eat (only half) a great meal. The leftovers will make a wonderful lunch. The prices are reasonable and I will definitely go back! -

Quantity not quality wins the place 3 stars for me. Nothing really unique about La Famiglia that the dozens of small places in the North End don't also have, except maybe that 'la famiglia' was sitting in the back, two tables pulled together laughing heartily and knocking little glasses of wine - The Godfather anyone?
Jokes aside, the food was decent. I had the lobster ravioli in garlic sauce which I heartily recommend - sweet lobster in perfectly-cooked ravioli swimming in an oily, garlicky, herby sauce, which might be a turnoff for some, but works great for skinny me! My date wasn't too enthused about her eggplant parm, but the copious amounts of pasta it came with made up for the disappointment.
I guess we should have been tipped off by the fact the place was half-empty late on Saturday afternoon, when other places already had lines stretching out. Oh well, next time. -

Ok, so it's not just me, everyone else agrees that the food portion sizes are huge. It's true; you really should plan on bringing some food home.
As for the food quality, it's excellent. If there's one quibble I have, it's that the marinara sauce isn't quite as thick as I'm used to, but its flavor is great anyway. -
Review from Briana M.
Providence, RI
This is not a place where the first priority is flavor savoring. This is a place where giant piles of pasta are housed. Put on some flowy clothes and strap on your feedbags before heading out to La Famiglia Giorgio's, that's fo sho!
Best part: for a three dollar upcharge, one can choose to order from a selection of housemade pastas. I chose the fettuccine to accompany my veal marsala. The sauce was good enough, the veal was over-done, but the hand cut pasta was the star. (Plus, I just reheated my left over pasta and made a simple tomato sauce to accompany it and it was STILL a star. All in all, I think I will get a total of four servings out of my one serving size.)
In general, mountains of food are not my steez, but I do understand that other peeps on this world are very passionate about mountains of food (I like to call them M.F.ers). If you are an M.F.er, you will enjoy La Famiglia Giorgio's. If you are like me, and you are not an M.F.er, but you happen to be in a group that is outnumbered by M.F.ers, you will not be too heinously offended by what the kitchen has to offer.

My friend's dad took my friend and I here for dinner while I was visiting Boston. Excellent little Italian place! We came in and saw a guy wandering around with an accordion and became very excited. I don't think he actually ended up playing at all during our dinner, but it's okay, because we quickly became distracted by the food.
First off - HUGE portions! I was very hungry, not having eaten at all that day, and I instantly dug in, but even as I ate, the amount of food left on my plate didn't seem to be decreasing at all. The pasta was sooo fresh and delicious and the sauce was very good. Just the right amount of spice for Italian food. It took all of my willpower even to finish half of my portion. Very, VERY good price for the quality and quantity of food you get. I had the rest of my pasta for breakfast the next day!
The service and environment itself were okay, not too stand out. Our waitress was pretty friendly and very amusing. When we asked if we could have the bread, she said they bring it out only after customers have ordered so as to avoid olive oil drips on their menus. It's not a terribly fancy or elegant place, but the food is delicious and ultimately, that is what counts! -

very very bad food. We were 10 visiting MIT and Harvard, and they just destroyed our evening. Foods were very very very bad. They just put lots of cheese/ sauce over the item you order. Try a different one!
