The buche tacos are still the best of the lot. A great mix of chewy and crunchy.

Horchata is the best I've tasted in a long time. It's very flavorful, not watered-down like most versions.

If it's your first time driving to La Fachada and you're not too familiar with San Diego, you might start to get a bit scared. It's close enough to Gaslamp for a short drive, but far enough to be in not so good of a neighborhood. That's what makes it that much more legit right?

Street food served out of a restaurant in the late hours of the night is somewhat of a new concept to me, but I can definitely get used to it.

    Why La Fachada is awesome:

    - No one here speaks English. If your Spanish is severely limited, this might be a tough place for you. Fortunately I knew enough to order and scream at the guy for charging me double. You know your food is going to be authentic if they guy taking your order refuses to even say one word of Ingles.

    - Mulitas. I would call it a mix between a taco and a quesedilla. Cheap and delicious, stuffed with your meat of choice, cheese, onions, and various herbs. I got mine with lengua and it was some of the most tender delicious cow tongue I've had.

    - Free beans and onions. On the side, there's a grill that's always fired up with warm beans, onions, and jalapenos cooking on it. Take as much as you can for free. Can't beat that.

    - Mariachi music. There's no need to explain why mariachi music is perfect for a mulita at 2 in the morning. It just is.

If you're worried about the neighborhood, don't be. There's a cop station across the street. The risk is definitely worth the reward in this case. You're not really a San Diegan foodie if you haven't ventured into this delicious part of town.

La Fachada is good but I still prefer Tacos El Gordo. The tacos de cabeza (cow head) are delicious here, even more so than the ones at Tacos El Gordo. The meat is juicier and more flavorful. The horchata was also good.

Unfortunately, the carnitas was dry and the al pastor lacked any real flavor. The enchiladas were nothing special but I did enjoy the beans and rice.

This is a 24 hour permanent food truck in a parking lot. It's across the street from a police station, so if you're driving there, pay heed to your blood alcohol limit, ha ha!
Their carnitas are the best, juicy and flavorful! Service was friendly, even though I don't speak Spanish.

Went there for a breakfast burrito and a machaca torta. We were the only customers at the time. Our food took 20 minutes to cook, the Horchata machine was down :( our burrito ingredients were overcooked
and the torta made me sick. I was disappointed as I used to come here all the time in the late 90's and the food was great then...

My heart belongs to La Fachada. Their food is amazing. The setting is hideous, dirty and in a sketchy part of town, but that's where the best food comes from!

I'm a sucker for the muletas...think meat filled quesadillas on home made corn tortillas....YUM. Also, you wouldn't believe how good a plain cheese quesadilla is on said tortillas.Their tacos are fantastic too. They also have grilled onions and beans that are free...and lots of salsas.....mmmmmmm

By far this place is the perfect place to go after a night of drinking downtown or if you want fantastic mexican food....now I'm hungry....

Also, they have fresh berries and cream which are really good and always fresh. And if you're lucky on the corner is Churros el Tigre...a lady that makes fresh churros and they're $2 a bag....sinfully good!!

    GREAT FOOD, BAD SERVICE

If you want good tacos without having to go all the way to Tijuana, I recommend this place.  I don't recommend anything else on the menu besides the basic taco meat items because the rest is frozen.

I made the mistake of ordering an enchilada and a tamale once and they were horrendous.  The enchilada was harder than rubber and the tamale was frozen solid inside.  I asked for my money back and did not go back for 6 months, and just switched to ordering just tacos.

The service is horrible, that's why most of the time, you have to serve yourself the drinks and the beans because they'll forget.  The last couple of times I went, the 10-year old girl at the register has forgotten our order and I've had to make a scene to get our food.  The poor girl gets no rest because I've seen her working at 11:00 pm on a weeknight.  What no school? My wife's friend was ready to call chid protective services after what she saw.

I'm still up in the air with this place, but a least the tacos are good.

This place is old, looks dirty, the ladies don't speak any English and the dining room is dark and cold!

So why is this place getting a five star from me?!?! Cause the food is just plain delicious. Simple as that.

I had a Mula de Buche ( Pork Stomach, stop being a sissy la la and try it!), a taco de Lengua ( Cow Tongue), and a taco de Cabeza ( Beef Cheeks). Like I said don't be boring and come here for the rolled tacos. Live a little have some Tongue!!

The total bill with tip was like 8 bucks with a coke and tip, but I would have paid $10 easily.

Tortillas are made to order and they also have Menudo and Pozole everyday. This will now be my go to taco shop for lunch.

It's still a fine place to get a taco if you're nearby and in the mood, but I've found the quality of the food has gone way down. I used to go here regularly a couple years ago. The owner seemed to run a tight ship and the tacos, salsas, and extras, were always top notch. The operation seems looser and the food has suffered because of it.

The place still provides that authentic Mexican taco experience, but these days, if I'm looking for Mexican food I'll go to Cuervo over Fachada.

Highly rated on Yelp, I really wanted to try this place. It was a 20-minute drive. For Tacos? Was it worth it? I really hoped so.

Got the carne asada, pollo asada, adobada, lengua and al pastor. To be honest, I wanted to try more but I wasn't sure if I could finish. My favorite was definitely the adobada. The oily the better.

Mind you, portions were not small.  I'm fluent in Spanish so when I started ordering, they all looked really shocked (I'm also Asian), and this could also mean they gave me extra meat because every time I took a bite, meats kept falling off and off.

I heard a lot about the salsa bar here but to be honest it was nothing too special for me. I did like their red sauce but it didn't really make me go crazy.

All the tacos were solid, nom-nom worthy, but the location of this place is really odd (I wouldn't say shady) but maybe it's because we came late at night.

Oh and props for their machines that costs 25 cents. I love Crazy Taxi so it was fun while waiting for my friend to get his to-go order.

I keep forgetting but their Horchada was also really good. Tasted legit like the ones I've had in Mexico. Then again this place is pretty close to the borders so I wasn't too shocked.

Recommended for the taco-lovers, or people that live close to this place. If you live in La Jolla like me, coming here is an adventure that requires some super serious craving for legit tacos.

    * Note* Review and rating for the truck only. I haven't been back since the yum yum taco mobile days (not by choice!). I've always had a better experience with the trunk and outdoor seating area than in the restaurant.

If you are craving delicious authentic tacos, this is your place. If you just want a typical burrito, you might be a bit disappointed because this is where tacos rule and burritos are 2nd-class citizens.

After a night out, my friend had great things to say about this place so I asked him to take. We drove down Imperial Ave into a sketchy neighborhood and secretly thought to myself "Score! There has to be a great hole-in-the-wall Mexican place here". I didn't realize it immediately, but I had discovered a gem.

Food: I've only tried tacos here: Lengua, adobada, al pastor, carnitas, cabeza, and birria. My favorite is lengua, with carnitas (crispy) and birria (very tender and juicy) with a close 2nd and 3rd. I have to wash this all down with a strawberry aqua fresca. I like this better than the horchata.

Price: I wouldn't say the tacos are necessarily cheap, but they aren't over-priced. Over-priced would mean I am over paying for what I get. I would gladly pay $1.80 for these tacos. You won't find tacos like this on this side of the border. Well except for adobadas at Tacos El Gordo in Chula =]

Cleanliness/Ambiance: Depending on the time of day, you do have to fight off some flies and being outside, you do question the cleanliness, but that's all part of the experience. For a top-rated sit down restaurant, I have higher standards, but for some authentic tacos, I'll tough it out.

meX-factor: Outdoor grill is money!! Help yourself to a pot of grilled beans and grilled onions/peppers.

Questionable sanitation but the food was pretty good. It was decently tasty but I wouldn't say it's flavorful. You can sit inside or outside. They have the standard green and red salsas, sliced radishes, and limes to go with food.

We got the 3 pork tacos and another plate. The tortillas were okay, tasted regular.

Recommendations: One of the better options for Mexican food in San Diego. Prices were okay, I don't think it was cheap, but won't break the pocketbook either. Portion sizes were normal.

I went to this place for lunch today after discovering it last week on Yelp while looking for more places to eat near my work. The rest of the afternoon, while doing some bank reconciliations, all I could think of was '4-stars or 5-stars'.

It's like your typical Mexican place, nothing fancy, good, inexpensive food. I wasn't real hungry after feasting on some Mexican bread all morning, so I just went for two carne asada and one carnitas tacos. I was planning on getting tacos anyhow, since every picture here is of them, but next time I'm coming with some of my Spanish-speaking co-workers so I can understand the rest of the menu. Anyhow, the tacos were delicious. I usually prefer flour over corn tortillas, and get burritos, but the shells were excellent. The beef and pork excellent as well. It just tasted real fresh, juicy, and tender.

Some other things I was thinking about concerning Yelp. Would a 10-start system be better? A lot of times I"d like to give 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 stars. Also, should one review a restaurant after one meal only, or 4-5. If you had 4-5 meals at every place, wouldn't you be losing out on a lot of Yelping opportunities.

Anyhow, there are a few other places near my work that I'm planning on checking out, but I think in the long run this place will work itself into my regular rotation.

I heard great things about this place prior to coming here. After trying it, I can firmly say that the tacos here were nothing special. Also, the place seems quite overpriced (1.80$ for regular tacos). The place was a bit difficult to find, but after you come here once, its quite easy to find it again. The main redeeming factor was the serving they provide in the taco. I don't think I've ever seen a taco stand give so much meat like this place.

The horchata was decent (once again, pretty average). Service here is nice. Once you order, you can sit inside or out and the workers will bring the food to you. Our tacos came out really quick. The first order I had was a bit cold, but the next order was straight off the grill (and in the same amount of time too).

Overall, the place is a decent late night taco stand. However, it's not worth the drive from La Jolla.

This is the type of Mexican restaurant I like. Sketchy neighborhood, cops everywhere, woman selling puppies outside (okay, not a huge fan of this but back to my point...)...that all points to great Mexican food!

I read the other Yelp reviews before I got here and tried a whole bunch of the tacos. I have to stick with my go-to on this. The carne asada tacos are awesome! Also, the little girl that takes the orders is adorable!

This places rocks! Being a huge fan of greasy spoons, taco stands and grocery cart food extravaganzas, La Fachada scratches my Mexican food itch!

So if you have checked out my reviews, you know I eat at all kinds of places. I don't care if I sit on a lawn chair in an alley, the food is what matters. This joint is about as close to TJ as you can get. A security guy guides you in to the parking place he wants you at and they even direct traffic for you when you leave.

I am writing this review based on the converted taco truck outside, not the food inside (never had). I have had the pollo asada, carnitas and carne asada. All of them awesome! Had the tacos and mulitas and they smoke most of the places I have tried in San Diego. Carnitas are crispy and lean, pollo asada very flavorful and the carne asada id moist and tasty.

Om most nights you can find them making the meat fresh right outside near the parking lot. The tortillas are made from scratch and the cheese and salsa are up there with the best of them. The menu from the "truck" is a lot more basic than the restaurant inside but seems to be the preference of most of the people who I have seen eating here. The converted truck serves tacos, burritos, huaraches, mulitas, tortas and sopes.

Prices are great, food rocks and everything is made fresh. All the employees are way cool and helpful to those who don't speak Spanish. Been to a million Mexican places in SD and can highly recommend this place.

My go-to Mexican place for Taco Tuesdays.  They have an expansive menu with many things you won't see at your run-of-the-mill Mexican joint.  Yes, it's not the newest place nor in the best neighborhood, but you know the age old adage about the hole-in-the-walls: they're the best!  The staff is friendly and speak English well.  My fav are the lengua (tongue) and tripa (tripe) tacos.  I've also tried the ceviche (3/5, but only because I'm comparing it to ceviche I had in Costa Rica!) as well as your basic tacos (carne asada [3/5], carnitas [4/5], pollo [3.5/5].  I've also taken dates there and they've thoroughly enjoyed themselves (But make sure you tell them what kind of neighborhood you're going to beforehand).  Definitely a place to try at least once (a date) or twice (with friends)!

*Sorry for all the parentheticals but there were many caveats!

I made a mistake.  I took friends from out of town to La Fachada.

I thought it was great -- like Brian S says, more Mexico than Mexico.  Tacos were great (I liked carne asada best) and the jugo de jamaica (hibiscus flower, I think it's called sorrel in the Caribbean) was worth the trip.  The staff were super friendly -- in both Spanish and English.  It was like you had dropped in on someone's family eating on white plastic tables in front of their house.

But it was too a la mexicana for the Washingtonians.  It was just too rustic, insufficiently hygienic for one of my friends.  She wanted gringoi-ized Disney-fied Mexican.  La Fachada was just too close to real thing for her to feel comfortable.

I can't blame La Fachada.  The fault was mine for making a bad choice for the fastidious guests.

If this was a review for the truck they used to have, it would be 5 stars. All of their tacos were delicious and their fish tacos were the best.

Sadly, the truck is no longer there and the food inside is not as good. We've come back twice hoping to see the truck, but had to settle for the food inside. You would think the food would be the same, but NOPE! It's actually some of the worse Mexican food we've had in SD. I don't know if this place is going to last much longer without their beloved truck. Where oh where has the truck gone?!?

This is a sad day for me.  La Fachada used to have it all.  Sadly, not anymore.  I must update my review.

Came here for lunch....Worst california burrito I have ever had!!!  Pretty much had no flavor and barely any carne asada.  The carne asada wasn't even good either.  Albertsons has better carne asada!!  Fries sucked, tortilla was average, salsa fresca was ehh.

They have outdoor seating if you wanna eat with a family of flies and bees swarming you.

Don't trust all the positive reviews about this place.  I for sure won't come back.

On the advice of the kinsman, we tried this hole-in-the-wall joint.  Trust me, this place is a hole in the wall.  But with the kinsman being from SD, and most San Diegans knowing their Mexican food, I was not disappointed.

Maybe I like my food dirty.  I'm not so much into the popular places, as they tend to disappoint.  I guess I go into those places with too much expectations.  Granted, La Fachada is in SD, arguably the Mexican Food capital of California, so there are some expectations.  But there's just something about going to a place where no one speaks the language other than the one the cuisine's based on.  I mean, no one spoke English.  Not the abuelita cooking the food to the 6 year old taking your order.  Yes, you read that right.

Aside from the child workers, they have some good choices.  I like me some offal meats, so I ordered some tripas and cabeza.  Good, good, good.  The food is inexpensive, and a person can be fed with less than ten bucks.  And if you're not into the good stuff, they have your regular asada and carnitas.  But live a little, you wuss.

I'd recommend eating inside, but if you're feeling good, they have tables set up outside to enjoy the weather.  There's street parking, and you could probably catch the Chargers game inside on Sundays like we did.  I will be back.

As a side note, so far SD, in terms of food and drink, have been superior to LA, this coming from a semi-native.  No glitz and glamour here folks, just good food.

I went to visit my bestie in San Diego. He said he is driving us to eat Mexican street-style tacos. I was afraid he will drive me to Tijuana and sell my kidney for VIP tickets to the Sade concert and some hookers (he is a bigger fanatic of Sade than I am).

After 10 minutes of driving we arrive at a food truck in a parking lot. After two visits and eating pretty much every taco on their menu I wouldn't care if my bestie did, in fact, drive me to Tijuana and sell my kidney for these tacos.

After eating the tacos, freshly grilled jalapenos, and the delicious spicy salsa I turned to my bestie and said "I understand homie, these tacos are worth selling out your bestie".

Yes, La Fachada is that good.

This is my taco spot! I stumbled upon this place while running errands. I was starving and needed to find something quick.

Came in on a week night, about 8 pm. My first impression was that it was "hole in the wall" Mexican joint- through my past experiences, I've come to find that those are usually the best. Most of the staff speak Spanish. I know some of them speak English yet refuse to speak it to me. (I may look Latin, but I'm definitely Filipino lol)

Anyways, I decided to go with their tacos because the Yelp pics had my mouth craving some. So I ordered two carne asada tacos and two pollo tacos- oh and a cerveza! (I needed one after going into meltdown mode from being so hungry!)

I grabbed my beer from the fridge, brought it up to the counter for them to open it and grabbed a table. They have indoor and outdoor seating but I think you can only drink beer if you're sitting inside.

They came out with chips and salsa first and they had a salsa bar that had me  curious. I had to try one of each- I think there was about 5 different kinds- all of which were great!

Once my tacos came, I devoured them. They didn't skimp out on the meat that's for sure! The tacos come with cilantro and onions- very basic, but it allows you to appreciate the flavor of the meat. I haven't found a better taco place in San Diego yet. (Although I might find a better fish taco place, the ones here are deep fried and I like fresh grilled fish tacos) Any time a friend comes to visit- we always make a late night run to La Fachada- perfect for the after bar 2 am snack! They're open until 3 AM!

I was in SD for work and was craving REAL mexican food - no better place to go than Barrio Logan.  A coworker and I found La Fachada on Yelp and decided to try it.  Despite the parking lot being a bit of a disaster, this place was legit.

Recommend: mulita con pollo asado and the horchata - but ask for extra ice since it's a bit on the sweeter side.

Avoid: the parking lot during lunch hour.

La Fachada, give 'em the ol one two!

    ADVENTUROUS MEXICAN FARE!  *Bam!*
We're talking about some Anthony Bourdain shit right here.  If you're looking for some tacos that are off the beaten path, try the cabeza (head), lengua (tongue), bucha (stomach) or birria (goat).  La Fachada also has your SD favorites like carne asada, carnitas and the good ol' California burrito.  And if that's still too crazy for you, well, then drive yourself over to Taco Bell.

    LOW PRICES!  *Double bam!*
Get low, get low, get low...cuz the prices here are!  Just exactly how low?  Uhhh, well, I dunno...cuz Uncle Pennybags, I mean teh bf, always pays for our meals.  BUT if memory serves me correctly, I think the tacos are all around $1.50 and the burritos are $4-5.

The kicker: ALL YOU CAN EAT SALSA BAR, PINTO BEANS AND ROASTED ONIONS!
There are 6 salsas of varying spiciness levels that you can sample with your meal.  If you wanna act like a hero, bite into one of their roasted jalepenos or a slice of habanero.  That will make you cry to mommy in no time.  The pinto beans are awesome and go great with the roasted onions, which are SOOOO sweet, it's like eating onion candy.  Nom nom nom...bet the bf liked the onion breath afterward.  ;)

WARNING: The beans will make you gassy.

    *fart*

"Man, I'm hungry.  I need food. I need some bomb ass muthafu%#in' Mexican food, immediately!"  This is a conversation that I have with myself, almost daily.  These urges have increased since I moved to Los Angeles, where Mexican food is best described as... offensive.

This craving has created a monster.  A Taco Monster.  Cabeza Tacos, Lengua Tacos, Adobada Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos.  "Give me your tacos!!!" This demand is regularly shouted by Fachada patrons and on-lookers alike.  Oh but it does not stop there, oh no no no.

This place is like the Kanye West of taco shops.  Dropping nuthin' but smashes, son.

A few extras that shouldn't be ignored:  Elote.  If you don't know what elote is, we probably couldn't be friends.  Giant pot of delicious all you can eat beans that taste just like your friend's abuelita made em. These things are on point.  Aguas frescas (check the pina one, so dope).  Grilled onions and jalapenos?  Of course.

To set it all off of course is the theme here. This place means business.  Taco truck bumpin' salsa and mariachi.  Children working there, keepin it family.  Nothing flashy.  No gimmicks.  This place is raw. This is Logan.  This is how SD do.

La Fachada.  It just sounds sexy.  You know its gonna taste good with a sexy ass name like that.  How good is this place?? Good enough to bring me out of a 3.5 year Yelp retirement.

    Good, tasty cheap tacos.

I got al pastor, chicken, carne asada, and carnitas. Two of each. Phew! It was a lot of food, but at 1.70 a taco, it's a pretty damn good deal. I also got a horchata, which was surprisingly not like the watery tasteless ones I've had at other places. The real deal!

Lol. Real and good. Real good.

Free grilled onions and sauces on the side, help yourself! What I like about this place is that the corn tortillas I had were thick, as compared to the thinner store-bought ones.

My favorite Carnitas taco.  It's moist inside, slightly crispy on the outside... the best way to enjoy carnitas.

They got rid of the taco truck in the front.  I loved that thing.  It added to the ambience.  They still have the outdoor grill and have moved the patio to the back of the parking lot.  Bring back the taco truck!

Don't leave without eating some of the grilled onions on the grill outside- they are most delicious.

I recently discovered that their tamales are really good as well!

Best carnitas I've had in my life!

If something stood out of the massive feast I tried at this joint it definitely was the carnitas.  Crisp on the outside, moist and full of flavor.  I recommend them on any dish you try at this place.

The prices are excellent and they have a vast variety of dishes on their menu.  Sopes, huaraches, tacos, burritos, you name it.

This place is all about the food.  Not a fancy setting, just good food. Very authentic in my opinion.  I'm tired of Mexican places that use cheddar cheese on their dishes and this one is not one of them.  I can't wait to go back here and eat a whole pig of carnitas!

This place has to be one of my all time favorite taco joints. ON the weekends it is nice to sit outside next to the fire that is cooking the beans and eat your lunch or dinner and relax. Its definitely a hole in the wall place and you sometimes question your safety in the neighborhood but it is all part of the experience.

Great place would recommend highly to others
