Vancouver, BC
The best in the city, and perhaps anywhere. Tonnes of flavors, unique and classic. Often busy, don't go when you are in a rush, although staff is as prompt as possible, and always courteous.
What I like most is that the gelato is not heavy or sweet. You really taste the flavor of the ice cream. Truly refreshing. -
Review from Betty T.
Selection of ice cream (and the fact that you can try as many as you want) is incredible! I always get the lavender, run raisin, an a sorbetto flavor (champagne pink grapefruit is good) to dilute the creaminess.
Took a star off because the parking lot is super shady. Car got broken into there.... At least my tummy was satisfied I gets.. -

La Casa Gelato! So many flavors!! While not necessarily the best gelato in town, the definitely hit the mark on the most flavors in town.
Its a super place to bring out of towners for the sheer magnitude of choices and for the crazy vibe this place has. It gets crazy busy and there is always some type of pop music blaring from the loud speakers. I do enjoy treating my self to a cone every once in a while, and since its a few block walk from my house I don't feel totally about about all the calories I have just ingested. My favorite flavors here are: blueberry cheesecake, apple pie, hedgehog and basil. Those are my usual go to flavors that you really cant go wrong with.
I think there is something here everyone can enjoy, even the lactose intolerant as they have a large selection of sorberttos as well. I am also pretty sure they have sugar free varieties too. -

One of my favorite places to go for a treat. I took my husband and son there for the first time, during our visit home for Christmas, and they LOVED it! They've got every flavor you can think of and I am always up for trying something a little different or exotic. My favorite is the Akbar Mushty flavor! We're all looking forward to our next visit home...and La Casa Gelato will definitely be on our list of places to go!

Review from Sarah D.
Everyone needs to visit La Casa Gelato at least once. It isn't because it's the best gelato ever, nor is it for the excellent value: it's because it's an ice-cream lover's wonderland with a zillion different flavours. And yes, I'm pretty sure that's the actual number.
Although it may seem counter-intuitive, the best time to visit is during the off-season when the weather is a little cooler, or on a rainy day. On days like this, the shop is a little less jam-packed and the staff are much more accessible. Trust me folks, you want the staff to be accessible because that translates into more samples!
Others have already talked about the menagerie of crazy flavours, so I won't go into it too much. But of course, that IS the reason to go in the first place. Visiting La Casa Gelato once a year is enough for me, but it is a nice place to go with family (my dad LOVES this place) or a hot date. -
Review from Theresa B.
Whenever I'm visiting Vancouver, I make sure to stop by this gelato establishment. They have over 200 flavours (I speak Canadian!) to please your palette. It can be crowded so be prepared to wait to get sample tastes of gelato. There are a lot of unusual flavors - chocolate chili, garlic, pear gorgonzola, and purple yam (a Filipino favourite!). They even have durian fruit which needs to be covered at all times - I think it tastes like sweet, sweaty feet, but to each their own.
When coming up from the States, I make sure to pack a cooler with ice packs because I usually bring back a litre of two flavours. They used to sell in quarts, but alas, I'm still happy to smuggle some sweet goodness across the border. My faves have consistently been Hedgehog (chocolate/hazelnut) and coconut red rice. I also had the Pear William which was light and refreshing on a hot day.
Definitely stop by if you're in town! -
Review from Jeremy C.
Jacquelin proposes trying 2-3 flavors and then choosing one. Please, ignore this advice (no offense, Jacky). Like her, I felt concerned about abusing the business' free trial policy, but their staff doesn't seem to mind and, frankly, some of the flavors seem intended exclusively for sampling (garlic gelato? You're going to try it, but you probably don't want a full scoop). That said, certainly be respectful to the staff and the other customers!
I've been here a couple times, and the decision doesn't get easier. Each visit I still tried probably twenty, maybe thirty flavors before choosing. It's part of what makes this place so much fun. I found myself comparing flavors with complete strangers, and having them encourage me to try flavors I had missed.
The ironic thing is that despite such an exquisite selection of flavors, I still find myself ordering the more basic flavors. My personal favorite is a scoop of panna cotta with a scoop of amaretto. Maybe not the most common flavors, but still not nearly as exotic as, say, jack fruit, fennel or wasabi. -
Review from DeathandFood b.
A true tragedy has happened! After almost a dozen trips to Vancouver and married to someone who lived here for eight years I had never been to La Casa Gelato. Luckily there is a happy ending and I have finally found the nirvana of ice cream choices. Forget about 32 flavours. How about 218? If you can't find a flavour you like, you shouldn't be eating ice cream.
The range of flavour is simply amazing from Southeast Asian favorites like durian and purple yam to Italian sorbettos to flavours hipster foodies will love like fennel seed, pear gorgonzola blue cheese and balsamic carmel. There's also lots of familar flavours that all kids will like too.
So after trying garlic, pear gorgonzola blue cheese, fennel seed, biberry, I settled on strawberry rhubarb pie complete with flaky pie pieces and the spouse got the chocolate chocolate chip. Our five friends got a range of flavours that they all enjoyed which makes sense since some of them are locals that have been coming here since they were kids.
First time visitors should know you pay for your ice cream first and are give a poker chip with how many scoops you are getting that you then give to the ice cream scoopers. They are happy to give samples but have patience and realize that there is no queue or line to be served here. -
Review from Dru C.
One of the most popular places to grab ice cream!! This is the place for multiple flavours at once!! :D
I enjoy this place a lot because they have tons of amazing experimental flavors and it is like a roller coaster to try every single flavor. I love my typical flavors like Dragonfruit, Lychee, Taro Root, Bubble Gum, Peanut Chocolate, Almonds, and other typical one base flavours. But their sorbet really is not worth getting, because the sorbet doesn't give a punch for a taste at the end.
This place is ALWAYS full after dinner time from 8:00pm - 11:00pm. Best time to go is always 4:00 - 5:00, as it is beating the rush and you can actually try all the flavors. I also enjoy this place because some of the staff are hot too, COUGH COUGH, yes I compliment the staff too.
But for sure it is always packed, it is a tad overrated, and sometimes it gets very annoying too. But overall it is fun and it is just for the hype :P -

There are lots of flavours here, but I'm sure you'll know that. However, did you know they have curry flavour, kim chi, and even rice. I wonder if curry ice cream on top of rice ice cream would work out?? Perhaps a pair made in ice cream heaven?
You pay at the smaller counter (to the left when you first walk in), with all the pricing there above that counter. They will give you a poker chip, but don't gamble it away cause that's ice cream money. Now that you have your poker chip, it's time to take your taste buds on a culinary adventures sampling all flavours of the rainbow.
There are many flavours of ice creams to sample and not just the strange ones I've mentioned so far. Among ice creams they also have many flavours of sorbets and sherbets.
I'm not going to tell you what is good here or not, that's for you to try and find out for yourself! Have fun!!
BTW, there's a parking lot across from this place where they got this neato mini park with benches that you chill and enjoy your frosty treat! Yah, don't try to drive with ice cream in your hand, you'll just have a sticky steering wheel when you get home. -

There are 218 flavours to try here. Unfortunately you have to fight through approximately 218 000 people to try them. Add in the weird 80's dance music blaring at 120 dB's and after ten minutes you just want to pick something and get out.
Granted, this was on a Saturday night at 10pm, but it would have been nice to see more than 3 guys working. -

I got lost in an industrial park last night, and found "La Casa Gelato," in my midst. Each review nailed it, "great service, don't leave your car running..." but i'd like to add that their yummy sorbetto is vegan. Gelatin free - very nice.

Review from Curtis L.
I love the gelato here! Pretty close to what we tried in Italy! The first day I tried the toasted almond and cream with another scoop of panna cota. I guess I qualified my self as a fan because I came here three days out of three days in Vancouver!
I also appreciated the trivia on the wall that verified that Marco Polo brought back a form of ice cream from China- the lactose tolerent kind. -

The sign might say 218 Flavors.. but the place is known to carry more than 518!! different flavors.
Definitely a place to take some tourists to go to.. as the flavor options always mesmerizes them! Pretty friendly staff, that allows you to taste all the different flavors. But they don't have that many staff for the long lines.. so be courteous and try 2-3 flavors.. then PICK ONE. hehe feeling adventerous? Try the wasabi or curry flavored ice cream. I always wonder if anyone actually buys a cone of that...
In terms of gelato, its nice that they have so much flavors, and it is reasonably good. I would give it a 4 star. But in terms of location.. its pretty in the middle of no where. And its not close to any parks that you can go take your ice cream to eat at. Its either there, or the parking lot, or in the car. So thus the 3 star.
Definitely Check it out if you haven't tho. +518 FLAVORS! -

Wow, my review here disappeared. I wonder why? Perhaps because the ice cream is just not...good.
I used to like this place the first couple of times that I visited. Maybe it was because it was a fun "date" place and It felt like I was going back to my teen/clubbing days listening to blackbox from the 80s-early 90s; I loved the multicultural crowd and the back area where we could sit and relish our treat.
Free parking was a plus.
Paying what seems like too much for the area...a bit off-putting.
Trying a few flavours (patiently) and then being served my chocolate-peanut butter ice cream by a disgruntled man who was interested in anything but serving me was sorta a letdown. I mean, it's like when a a guy who hates children goes into teaching. The two just don't mix.
And then, biting into my ice-cream only to realize that it was old, crystallized and of worse quality than those old buckets your family would purchase as kids.
Realizing that I'd save the calories, time and money and never return. Another childhood memory that doesn't work in the adult world...(sigh). -
Review from Elaine N.
I really enjoyed my visit to this place. They have hundreds of different flavors! I liked their system -- pay for a token when you enter, try out as many flavors as you like, then exchange the token for a scoop of your choice.
I'm already super indecisive, so a place with so many options was a little intimidating. But after carefully tasting at least 10 flavors (including wasabi, which was really um... interesting), I decided on a single scoop of the Strawberry Banana. Yummm. -
Review from Rhett S.
218 different flavors of Gelato... for reals? YES!
Have you ever had the most amazing sauce or curry or rumalade or gastrique or foam that you just wanted to turn into an ice cream and bathe in it on a hot summer day? Yes... well me too. La Casa Gelato is the place to get it done.
It's quite hard to imagine 218 flavors of anything all in one place. I'm quite certain I sampled 20 flavors before I made my purchase. It was like a free scoop made up of 20 spoon fulls. You really have to put on your adventure cap when you come here because many of the flavors are more exotic than your imagination.
A few of my samples: Wild Chantrelle Mushroom (Actually very good. Wanted to melt it over a steak), Pistacho/safron/rosewater (tasted like potpourri), fennel (so good! tasted like a sweet sausage), durian (ewwwww *shivers*), durian/jack fruit (*shivers again*), durian/mango/strawberry (*shivers some more*), pear/gorgonzola (wanted to dip a loaf of naan into it), garlic/artichoke (weird), marzcipone/chocolate chip (think of a cannoli), ricotta/tomato (think of lasagna), strawberry basil (yum!), bacon/plum (wierd but grew on me), etc....
My purchase: Lemon Rasberry
I've come to the conclusion that any non-Mexican place that refers to themselves as "La Casa...." is glorious!Listed in: Vancoooouver!

Vancouver, BC
218 flavours of ice cream and Gelato, plus handmade cannolis and elaborate icecream cakes.
We were lured in there as the word on the street was that they had Vegemite ice cream, and as some friends from Australia were visiting it only seemed right to pay a visit to the pink palace of frozen goodness.
Incidentally, they were all out of Vegemite, but considering we were probably the only people in the last 8 months that had any interest in buying it, I understand.
Friendly staff who obligingly let you taste as many flavours as your like. FOR REALSIES.
Vincenzo, or Vince, the owner regaled us with tales of setting up shop in Vancouver in 1982 when he emigrated from Italy. Good guy, loves a chat.
I was wooed by all of the unexpected flavours, like balsamic, wasabi, wild berry and jalapeno, curry, garlic, and chantrelle mushroom. But the one that I actually would go back and eat again was the pear, gorgonzola and blue cheese. Combining a dessert course and a cheese course and letting me eat it with a pink plastic spoon? Oh, go onnnnnnn then, Vinnie.
My choice today was blackberry cheesecake and coconut cream pie. Heaven. -

My reason for giving this five stars: Bailey's Coconut Gelato! Top that with your favorite chocolate flavor and you are golden!

So what if it's winter, me wants ice cream. Me wants it now!
I love La Casa Gelato. Sure, I can get a whole liter at the Supermarket for the same price as two scoops, but I prefer quality over quantity. (Okay, so I don't really, but I tell myself that so I don't tear out my hair because I paid $6.50 for two scoops of ice cream... it used to be like $4.00, but alas, that was many moons ago).
I wanted to come here because I wanted Black Sesame Ice Cream. So I can't get that at the Supermarket (or can I?) so I don't mind paying crazy gelato prices. I don't like getting chocolate or coffee from places like this. From gelato places, I like getting fruit flavours or hard to find flavours (except on the Coast, I just get whatever with cheesecake). So from here, I love the passionfruit sorbet, or mango madness or lychee. Yum.
So this time I get mango madness and sesame. Ahh, I love how mango-y the mango is. It so mango-y compared to other mango sorbets from other places... the black sesame is different from what I'm used to. It's nice and sesame-y, but there are actual sesame pieces in it, so I have to chew. I love it when it's dark and smooth. This is a pale purple-y black filled with sesame seeds. I'm still eating it. I will still get it again. Just saying.
Most times I end up with the ice cream all over me because it drips into the bottom of the homemade waffle cones. I now know better. Eat fast. -

$4.50 for one scoop of gelato, is it worth, it? Maybe once, for the novelty of it all, it isn't everyday that you find yourself surrounded with hundreds of far-reaching flavors of gelato.
I visited again this weekend with some newbs but found that they have changed their purchase methods, curse them, they give out different colored tokens for the various number of scoops instead of multiples of the same tokens, so that basically renders the tip in my first review for crap.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I haven't been here in almost two years, but I need to write this review because the memory still haunts me!
This is gelato HEAVEN! I tell people about this place all the time...and even before the film, this was my Eat, Pray, Love experience - I visited Vancouver for only a week but after discovering this gelato shop I was back every day.
200+ flavours in every bizzare, super concentrated, surpirsingly accurate gelato flavour to ever exist... savory flavours, sweet flavours - garlic, basil, carmel apple, balsamic vinegar, its all thereListed in: Best Ice Cream/Gelato

This place was great and authentic many many years ago. Now it's just a novelty destination and most of the product is made from cheap artificial ingredients.
The Italians DO rock sweet frozen treats because they are sticklers for quality, natural ingredients. When this place was taken over by non-Italians, the flavour and atmosphere was ruined.
Every time I drive by it, I wish for their good old days, but I'm no longer tempted to stop in. -

Grade: A-
Mmm, gelato! We made a trek out to La Casa Gelato because we had heard so much about its unique flavors. Curry, wasabi, balsamic, garlic...were we brave enough to try the odd ones? Nope, lol. We just wanted sweet flavors not the savory ones. There were just too many sweet ones that I just couldn't get myself to try the strange ones.
Sis and I tried about a dozen flavors before making up our minds. Mangosteen, Ferrero Rocher, pistachio, raspberry cheesecake, passionfruit guava sorbet, lemon sorbet, mint chocolate, frangelico, cookie dough, chocolate...we ended up choosing frangelico (hazelnut), passionfruit guava sorbet, raspberry cheesecake, and pistachio.
Tasting the different flavors was part of the experience. To purchase, you have to pre-pay and get a token. Very pricey (I think two flavors was about $7 each). But we were craving gelato and just had to try this place. Would we go back? Sure, we are always up for gelato...but while walking around Vancouver, we passed by a lot of gelato shops that I'm sure we would have liked as well. Overall, we were glad to have tried it at least once. It's too bad neither of us were in the mood to try the crazy flavors. We'll have to take your word for it! -

Does anyone else do this with their friends? Pick a flavour for a friend to try and always pick the nastiest one you can find?
The crazy thing about La Casa Gelato is that even though some of the flavours may sound kinda disgusting, they actually taste decent. I'm not saying I'm gonna get a full scoop of balsamic vinegar-flavoured ice cream on a hot day, but the "Gelartists" (see what i did there?) always find a way to amaze me.
218 flavours... cup or cone... Nothing is terrible, but some like balsamic vinegar are just plain weird.
My favourite part about going to La Casa Gelato is that the parking lot on the other side of the street is always amusing to watch. If you've been, you know exactly what I'm referring to. -

I've been talking about visiting this place forever and finally broke down and did it. I'm surprised ... super surprised by all the positive reviews. It definitely has over 200 flavours but with quantity I feel they've sacrificed quality. I'd rather have 10 flavours done really well!
During peak hours/weather, this place is packed! Whether you're in the mood for taro root or chai tea, you'll like find a flavour to tempt your tastebuds. For me, the gelato lacked richness ... it seemed like frozen milk with a splash of whatever flavour.
It's also pricey for the amount you get - nearly $5 for a single scoop of weak gelato? No thank you. The cone I had was also stale and not crisp. It was literally *chewy* in parts. Yuck.
I'll save my gelato budget for other places around town that do it more to my liking. -
Review from Sarah S.
Just got back from a visit to Vancouver with my relatives and they promised me this is the best gelato in town--they were absolutely right!! Tasted just like rich ice cream and the great part, is that it's not too sweet. I couldn't believe they had 218 flavors--WHOA Nelly!! I tried balsamic vinegar (yuk), but the lavender, green tea, and some traditional Italian flavors were truly unique. In the end I chose Gianduia (Sweet Chocolate-Hazelnut) yummmmm! I was so full with the tasters that I had to give my half-eaten cone to my husband. My kids also loved it. We'll be back there next time we visit BC!

I just don't see how you can not like this place!
218 flavours and the staff was very patient to give you samples of all the ones you want to try but not willing to get scoop of.
Granted $4 for a single scoop is a little expensive but the grapefruit Champagne was the best grapefruit sorbet outside of San Crispino in Rome. -
Review from Evilyn T.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!!!
The BF and I were already melting, so we slipped into this pink palace for something to keep us cool. This place has 218 flavours from savoury to sweet and everything inbetween. I was actually pretty tempted to try the balsamic ice cream, since I love the tartness of the vinegar, but my sweet tooth guided me over to the chocolate Bailey's ice cream. Hell yes to ice cream flavoured with booze! I also had the black forest chocolate (cuz I needed a cherry on top of my waffle cone.)
Obviously when its hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk you should be prepared for this place to be crammed full of sweaty beasts. However, I have to admit, most of the people mingling inside were so distraught on which flavour to pick, that I had no problem getting my double scoop waffle cone in no time! It was a little pricey $6.50 for two rather small scoops that melted faster than I could get them in my mouth, but the ice cream was not so rich (or cold apparently) that I had to eat it slowly for fear of the mouth pucker or the brain freeze. My question is, has anybody tried the wasabi ice cream here?? Or any other strange flavours? I was tempted to try out the chai tea, cuz I bet that would be pretty nice, but I played it too safe.... next time Gadget, there's always next time.... -

Just because you can have curry gelato doesn't mean you should. Yes the millions of flavors is fun to try with friends and visitors, but honestly it's not the best gelato place in the city. And it's always packed, which does get tedious. There is better in Vancouver for sure. But for a gelato freakshow, feel free to give it a try.

Review from Siri W.
So I'm driving home on what turned out to be a fairly frustrating Friday night and it hits me - I could so be getting gelato right now. And what life situation is not vastly improved by the presence of frozen deliciousness? So I head to the infamous La Casa Gelato. Not my first time and not my last either.
The place was buzzing. For somewhere in the middle of the industrial area of town, there were people everywhere - and from every single age demographic you can imagine. Old people, families, hipsters, trendy girls, middle-aged girls night outers...apparently the power of gelato unites us.
I surveyed the area. It was tricky - the crowd was a beast, but I did my best to check out the wares. I wasn't super-thorough about it. Apparently this place is now up to over 500 flavours, and I was just not committed enough to my curiosity tonight to check them all out. I just wanted two scoops of something yummy dammit!
So I purchase my 2-scoop chip from the owner - this place has a pre-pay system for obvious crowd-control reasons. $6.50 for two scoops - not bad at all. The guy behind the register - in fact, everyone who worked there was super friendly and conversational, despite the vague atmosphere of sugar-rabid chaos. We chat about the necessity of two-scoops of ice-cream some days, how nice the sunshine is, the Canucks...
And then I get to choose. Having already decided to pursue some kind of chocolate in my feel-good quest, I settle on a mix of Chocolate and Peanut Butter (SO good) and Chocolate Cheese-Cake. Not as good, but still rich, gooey chocolate-ness. The Cheesecake didn't come through as much but what are you gonna do - 500 + flavours, they can't all be jackpots.
The gelato is smooth and fresh. I didn't get even a hint of this "Grainy" texture I've heard tell about from some reviewers - and I like to think I'm a girl who knows my sweet stuff.
All in all, this place is great. It's especially great when you go in randomly on a Thursday around noon and have the place - and the taste tests - to yourselves. But really, with choices, service and flavours like this, I'll take what I can get.
Check it out - there is no possible way you won't be able to find SOMETHING to tickle your fancy. -
Review from Lisa P.
This place was packed on a Saturday night at 10:00. It's great that you can sample whatever flavor you want before you buy it. Most are pretty good. I went in hoping to find passion fruit, which I did, along with some mixes like raspberry passion fruit and passion fruit, orange, guava which I enjoyed the best. The pineapple orange sorbetto tasted like it was freezer burned. A few other flavors I tried were average, nothing special. My second favorite choice this evening was chocolate coconut. I will say that the gelato here is expensive for what you get: one or two little scoops, smaller than any ice cream place I've been to.
Load up on samples before you go in for the big (or should I say little) scoop. -

This is a gelato shop on steroids, offering 218 flavours! As a gelato connesieur it can be overwhelming, just breathe and focus...
I was beyond excited to see peanut butter mixed with numerous complimentors (mmm peanut butter and blueberry), a chocolate selection with will make your head spin, as well as a great selection of sorbettos. Even better the staff here is happy to give you an obscene amount of taster spoons, they didn't even make me feel at all bad when I actually lost count.
They also have some atypical flavors, Curry Gelato anyone? Balsamic vinegar perhaps? Maybe saffrom?
The oddest - garlic... yes... Garlic Gelato. My big sister, who apparently still bullies me, made me try it. At first it was like, okay tastes like normal gelato, and then I was hit with the brick wall which was made of garlic. Being a genius I had put the whole taster spoon in my mouth as well - bad idea. It was terrible! It almost put me off my gelato.
The overall gelato quality is mediocre, but the vast selection easily makes up for this. And being a connesieur, perhaps I am a snob, all gelato is compared to what I had in Italy.
Staff is great, when I was paying I had a funny conversation about said garlic gelato and how some people actually like it.
I left happy yet smelling like garlic. I suggest if you try a random flavor, little bites first, don't jump the gun in the gelato histeria.Listed in: I Heart Ice Cream

This place has 508 flavo(u)rs of gelato...NOT EVEN KIDDING!! Though they ONLY carry 218 at a time. Yeah...ONLY.
AND they let you try as many as you like. I had a few hours to kill and my friend suggested I go here and try all the gelato flavo(u)rs! I'm so glad I did. It was an odd, industrial type area. But, it wasn't too bad of a location since there was plenty of street parking.
You had the typical chocolate, raspberry and vanilla flavo(u)rs but they also had some crazy ones. Some of the interesting ones I saw were gorgonzola and pear, basil, hot chili and garlic, to name a few.
So next time you're in the mood for a lychee and hot chili combo or mango with garlic combo of gelato - I suggest you come here. I don't think you can find these flavo(u)rs anywhere else!! -

I love this place in all its quirkiness. It is situated next to a railroad track and a lot of commercial warehouses, including ferrari! In the peak of summer I grab blackberries from behind the fences. The place has chinese writing on one side of the awn. The questionable flavors like garlic? The italian techno music? Only La Casa Gelato could have all of the aforementioned qualities and still be successful.
Not the best gelato in town but definitely the most memorable. I go for the balsamic gelato every time. -
Review from Sarah O.
My review is truly a reiteration of what has already been said before me.
Jenni O. said it best, This place really is a gelato shop on steroids.
Jonathan G. tasted it best, The black sesame flavor tasted like vanilla.
Reena M. observed it best, The quality really isn't top notch-at all.
Peanut butter blueberry flavor is so thick in texture that it felt like toothpaste. Chocolate Sambuca flavor is reminiscent of Mike Tyson, it will make you KO. The Basil and Chai flavors really pack in the taste too harshly and ineloquently, and if you happen to be like my friend Lawrence who loves white rice, you're in luck because they have that too.
You go here once to check it out, but never end up returning because of the compromise they make in flavor, quality and inconvenient location. -

Canadian Officer: What is the purpose of your trip?
me: Pineapple poppy seed gelato.
Canadian Officer: *frowning* You're going all the way from Seattle to Vancouver for gelato?
me: Yes, sir!
Canadian Officer: Is it really that good?
me: *closed eyes, dreamy facial expression* Yessssssssss!
I do not care that technically you can find better quality gelato in Vancouver - they do not carry pineapple poppy seed gelato.
I do not care that you can find cheaper gelato in Vancouver - they do not carry pineapple poppy seed gelato.
I do not care that the staff tends to be always grouchy and that the owner is smiley only on the photographs. He NEVER smiles in real life. NEVER. I do not care. I come here for pineapple poppy seed gelato.
I do not even care for the humongous gelato selection. As long as they carry pineapple poppy seed gelato, I'll be coming here all the way from Seattle. -

218 Flavors? Yes....When my friend first told me about this place, my jaws dropped. When I actually was there, I was totally like a kid running around to check out all the different flavors.
I was there around 3:00pm on a Friday's afternoon. It was not crowded at all. My local friends said this place always pack at night and weekend! The place was very clean. The servers were very friendly and efficient. The Gelato is organized well into flavor clusters. The big bonus is you can try the flavors as much as you like (as long as you don't care the server at all).
Although they have soooo many different flavors but I think the quality of the Gelato wasn't quite top notch. Some of the flavors were too light and lack of richness. After I tried couple flavors, I finally made up my mind......My favourite of the day was Coconut Red Rice, Purple Yam and Blueberry Cheesecake.
The Gelato was on the expensive side; $4.50 for one scoop and $8.75 for three scoops. You can choose neither a cup or waffle cone. The waffle cone is home-made....Yummy and Fresh!
In term of the quality, I had a fun and good experience there. -

Gotta update a star because today they had Chocolate Sorbet!! This is really my G.F/D.F dream come true. It was rich and "creamy" too.
While my friends took 25 minutes to chose a flavour -I kid you not, the place filled up with gelato zombies. It may be 30 degrees outside, but inside Casa it's b-r-r-r-fect!
Hot days = more turnaround in flavours.1 Previous Review: Show all »
