Excellent bakery which produces artisan-quality breads.

Partially delicious is the ham and cheese croissant.  And the chocolate for that matter; they really are quite loaded with butter, and the end result is exceptionally tasty and flaky.

The baguettes are also first-rate; chewy but not overly so and tasty.  They had three or four versions of baguettes but I stayed with the classic.

Apparently this bakery supplies a lot of the area restaurants with bread.

    Very reasonably priced.

I've been traveling to Quebec at least every three months for work for the past 5 years, but today was the first time I'd stumbled upon this little gem of a cafe.

My first clue to the quality of this place was the line of customers waiting to order. It's a little shop, and the line went literally out the door and there were about 6 or 7 patrons waiting patiently outside on the footpath to get in. After 15 minutes of waiting I finally got to the front of the line to place my order. I cannot hold this long wait for my food against the cafe. After all, It's not its fault that it's one of the locals' favorite places to lunch in the city.

The food was excellent, the coffee superb, and the prices fairly reasonable. I had an espresso and a baguette with sausage, greens, cheese and 'dijonnaise'. The bread was the perfect combination of crusty and soft, and the sausage was just spicy enough to excite the taste buds, without overdoing it. They had at least 10 different baguette sandwiches, all of which looked delicious.

The shop only has seating for perhaps a dozen diners, so during the busy lunch rush it was difficult to find a seat. I had to wait for a woman to finish eating so I could squeeze onto a stool in between two other folks enjoying their lunch.

An excellent dining experience and I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in Quebec City.

I tried this place after seeing it on yelp.

The food was good, the prices were right, and it was clear that this was not a place for tourists. As a tourist, I liked that. The staff were friendly and didn't mind that I don't speak French.

I ended up going there twice in a two day stay. I knew it was reliable. The sandwiches were not the best sandwiches I've ever had, but the bread was pretty good and I felt I had received a good deal in a city where the food is expensive and not that great.

Be sure to arrive mid-day for the sandwiches. If you arrive too early, the sandwiches will not be made yet.

On the recommendation of our hotel concierge, we trooped over here early Wednesday morning to have a bite of fresh French carbs.  It's a great place to start off your morning with a cup of coffee or tea and a pastry; if you can read the daily newspapers, that's another perk!  My favorite was the ham & cheese croissant (feuilleté jambon & fromage).

They have other foods besides baked goods, and apparently their lunch fare is quite good as well.  Unfortunately my stomach didn't allow any more room for sampling!

Five stars for the three chocolate brioche but only two stars for the duck pate baguette. Overall, would try them again.

My family has been on vacation to Quebec City at least 6 times and we always raid La Boite A Pain and bring baked goods home with us.  The croissants are amazing!!  My husband loves the almondine (almond), my son the chocolate, and myself the almond and chocolate combined.  We've tried sooo many bake shops in Toronto but none compare!  When we're not going to Qubec City we arrange a bulk order and have them couriered to Toronto.  They are that spectacular!!  The sandwiches arevspectacular as well when you want to they something a little different, but those croissants stand out for me!

Fantastic bakery around the corner from our hotel.  We thoroughly enjoyed the brioche, and the chocolate croissants for breakfast.

This place, found completely by accident, was our go-to bakery for Quebec City.

Three years later, I STILL salivate thinking about their sandwiches made of skinny baguettes and filled with yummy things like merguez (a French lamb sausage) or rillette de lapin (a pate of rabbit).

We would buy one sandwich to eat there and two to eat while we were wandering around town.

And of course their coffee and croissants were just fine too!
