Review from Aaron S.
Still holding it's title of best poutine around period. But as mentioned before it's also about the service. On a recent visit I found a string of plastic on my fork that came from the manufacturing process. It wasn't a big deal and I just pulled it off my fork and dug in. Minutes later the manager yelled from the back asking if I had found a hair in my food. I guess the chef noticed me picking it off and let him know so they could remedy it. I said no it was just plastic on the fork and there were no issues. I thanked them for their concern and then proceeded to devour my donair poutine. Which as always was top notch.

This afternoon I was wandering around the west end and I decided to go to La Belle Patate for some poutine. I am a big poutine lover (how can you not love fries covered in gravy and cheese?) and I have heard really good things about this place but it is a bit too far for me to walk to from work and I am not often in the west end.
They had a very large selection of different types of poutine. Everything from your traditional poutine to ones covered in tons of different meat and veggie toppings. I decided to go with the Montreal smoked meat poutine which was cheese, gravy, and smoked meat.
The poutine was loaded with big soft cheese curds and chunks of super tender smoked meat. I loved the addition of the smoked meat I thought it gave it a really nice flavor and the meat melted in your mouth. The gravy had a deep rich flavor but it wasn't too heavy and overpowering like the gravy on some other poutine, which makes you feel sick a couple bites in. This poutine definitely lived up to its hype and I will have to make sure I am in the neighbourhood more often so I can try some of the other flavours!

Review from Kris Z.
I'd only had poutine once about 15 years ago at a random diner in the middle of eastern Ontario. I had fond memories of it, and a jonesing for it had come to haunt me. Many yelpers said this place was great, and I have to say I agree.
There is more poutine here than you can shake a stick at. The gravy is so savoury, and it's advertised as being vegetarian which I found surprising. They have 3 sizes, but unless you're really hungry I'd recommend a small. I saw many there with what was probably a medium, you could easily share the larger sizes.
They have a good selection of beers, including the Unibroue ones (not surprising since they're from Quebec). In the end I got my poutine fix, my wife found the steamer ok so if you're going with someone who doesn't want poutine, there are options as well.
The poutine experience compared to the Ontario diner? Honestly it was so long ago, I barely remember. I don't remember the cheese curds being so big, but it was every bit as satisfying as the first time. I'm sure I'll be back some day! -

La Belle vs Fritz in a Davie poutine showdown:
Fries: Can't go wrong with the fries at either place. Slight edge to Fritz as their fries stand on their own better without all the toppings.
Gravy: The gravy at La Belle is richer, whereas it is pretty simple at Fritz. I'd have to go with La Belle.
Sauce: I tend to actually skip the gravy at Fritz and get that oh so delicious garlic lovers or cajun ketchup sauce so I'm creating a category for them and giving them a massive victory.
Cheese: Squeakier at La Belle, but decent at Fritz too.
Toppings: This is where La Belle shines. You can make poutine a meal at La Belle. The donair poutine is one of my favorite choices. Smoked meat and breakfast are also worthy.
I'm going to have to give the victory to La Belle. There is also better seating and they serve beer. The victor gets the coveted full 5 star rating. -

La Belle Patate opened it's doors on Davie Street a couple of years ago and the West End and rest of Vancouver was introduced to what a traditional Québécois poutine should be and taste like.
Since they've opened I've added a couple notches to my belt eating their delish poutine and now it seems if I have poutine someplace else I'm comparing it to La Belle~they make a damn great product it my conclusion that I haven't found anyplace else in Vancouver and if you have never been you should go~NOW!
The restaurant itself is cozy and there is lots of seating, Canucks games and other sporting events are played on flat screens and they are licensed to serve beer, wine and hard liquor.
The menu is pretty large featuring choices of poutines and a selection of Montreal Steamies (hot dogs), Smoked Meat sandwiches and grilled cheese.
On this visit I grabbed some takeout poutine featuring my favorite kind and one that I have never had before so on to the food!
First up is my favorite-the Montreal Smoked Meat poutine in the small size. For $7.50 you get a good amount of smoked meat and they chop it in nice big chunks. The cheese curds here are nice and squeaky and I believe they get them weekly from Quebec. The gravy or sauce used here is vegetarian and not too salty.
This is one that I have never tried, the hotdog poutine or Poutine saucisse, it has there Montreal steamies fried on the flat top first and then mixed with sauce and cheese curds. It was pretty good but I think I'll stick to my Montreal Smoked Meat poutine- I liked the flavor more and it felt more decadent, I could see this being awesome with kids though. -

This is the place to go if you want to try poutine!
There are probably thirty or so varieties that you can choose from. Any kind of toppings you want!
The fries and cheese curds were good. And their sauce is vegetarian...Bonus!
We shared three different types of Poutine between the four of us. They were all good.. but they all started tasting the same. Same fries...same sauce... the only thing that made it different were the toppings.
I see this as a good place to go late at night with your friends. -
Review from Adrienne R.
We wanted to have poutine while in Vancouver. La Belle Patate came up as having very good poutine, so we headed there on a late November Wednesday evening.
The staff is really friendly. Wi-fi is available. The food comes out FAST. When the sandwich came out with mustard on it, and I don't eat mustard but had forgotten to ask what came on it and therefore ask not to have mustard, they made me a new sandwich right away. The food was tasty and it was filling. I could only eat half the sandwich.
The hot dog came out burnt, which isn't very good. And it's maybe a little pricey. Overall, we can recommend this place. -

Canada. From the shallow American perspective (that's me) it means weed, Cuban cigars and poutine. I don't toke, I've tried the cigars (leaf's not appreciably better but the rolling is a work of art) so this trip was poutine time. Based on Robin M's recommendation (at least what we thought she was recommending through the background noise) we hit this spot.
And for good reason, LBP has a grip o' poutines. I'll have to come back on every future trip I make to Vancouver to try as many as possible.
That said, in Portland the poutine lacks cheese curds and I don't think their inclusion makes the mushy mess better. Maybe if they were from a sharper cheese they might do more. As it is the traditional is just really good fries and tasty gravy with chunks of wax. -
Review from Michael F.
I had really good normal poutine. Fries were crunchy enough to hold up to gravy and cheese. Cheese was solid when served, melted slightly as heat emanated. Gravy was alright but vegetarian.
I had a steamie with some smoked meat on it just because I wanted to see what smoked meat was. The steamie is just a decent hot dog. Smoked meat is like pastrami minus the seasonings. I can see how it would be very good on the poutine.
Everything was sating. Everyone was friendly. I wish I had more time to eat more of their menu.Listed in: Food trucks

Solid poutine. Chewy chewy cheese curds. Ooey gooey gravey. They have a large menu, and the fries are piping hot!
They also have all you can eat poutine for 19.5CAD if you are up for the challenge. With such an extensive menu, you could definitely get your moneys worth trying each type! The owner is awesome and the inside is pretty cheesy, in the best possible way. -
Review from Kat F.
In a word, authentic.
Who knew there were so many Québécois ex-pats lurking on the west coast in Vancouver?? Pas moi, certain.
There are Pepsi products everywhere - anyone who knows a lick about Québec knows it's the Pepsi mecca of the globe. They sell steamés if hot dogs are your thing, and if many, many hot dogs appeal to you, you can buy a dozen for $25. You'll also find heaps of the best beer Canada has to offer to go with your greasy diner food - all the best from Unibroue, including Blanche de Chambly and La Maudite. The small space is littered with Habs paraphernalia - flags, scoreboards, posters and the like - and there are postcards promoting http://Francouver.ca, which seems like a cool concept to me.
The poutine itself is decent and hits the spot better than any other I've tried west of Québec - there must be something in the water. The gravy is vegetarian, which I find a little suspect, but the curds are as real as they come and squeak like crazy when you bite down. You can even buy curd bags at the cash, just like at gas stations in La Belle Province. There would be no reason for one person to ever order anything bigger than the small size, and yes, you should definitely get mushy peas on top. -
Review from Ivan R.
I was referred to La Belle Patate as one of the best places for poutine in the area, but on top of that I was told they had a superior beer selection. Great!!, as poutine paired with a few beers would make for a perfect night.
While I was disappointed that they only had one beer available (Molson's Export), I was happy to see that they had 30 different types of Poutine available, with bacon, burger, smoked meat and even more options. Hell, they even offer an All You Can Eat Poutine for $19.50.
I had the 23 which is smoked meat and onion...good stuff!! Staring down at it, you see the gravy, the cheese curds, large chunks of meat and there are the fries. How the fries don't become soggy, I will never know, but it all held together really well.
This is a small place with no TVs, so grab a seat by the window so you can at least people watch while you enjoy those amazing cheese curds.

Notes:
* You order before you eat/drink, so this is not your ideal place to go grab a bite and enjoy couple of drinks...This place has ZERO atmosphere so I'd think they'd at least want to keep serving you beers, but the whole idea of getting up and prepaying every time I'd like a beer just doesn't make sense to me.
* This place only offers poutine and hot dogs, so you'd better make sure everyone in your group wants poutine...if your friend is the "I want something light" guy, he's not going to be eating.
* Despite the lacking beer selection when I went, there was a decent variety of gourmet sodas.
* On Davie Street, it's a great place to sit down and people watch...it's quite a "colourful" place.Listed in: Umm, I'm not from here...

Can't find it in my heart to give a five-star rating after one visit, but dang vu! That is some fiiiiine poutine. Serious fries, scratch gravy, wide and proper range of toppings, healthy portions, reasonable cost, relaxing atmosphere. Unless I find that 'third wave' coffee knobs have taken the kitchen over and snob it out, the next time I come will probably mean a five-star upgrade. Can Davie go wrong, for a change?

Review from Kristine H.
It has been well over a decade since I've had proper poutine. And I've learned from experience that you cannot explain this Québécois dish to the uninitiated... you just have to take them someplace reputable and have them dive into a dish. If you aren't familiar, poutine is a dish made with French fries, cheese curds and covered in a savoury brown gravy sauce. This is perfect food for a long night of boozing or when the weather is rainy and cold.
There's a couple of places in town that offer poutine but it would behoove you to head on over to Davie Street and Bute, where you cannot miss La Belle Patate's brightly painted storefront. Look for the sandwich board on the street extolling their thirty different varieties of poutine! When you enter, it's not fancy. I'd say the décor is casual sports bar with a television in the corner and beer signs everywhere. If the weather permits, the large glass windows open out onto the street which makes for perfect people-watching.
One of our party had never had poutine before... well, that's not true. She'd had poutine before just not authentic Canadian poutine! So she had several questions for the nice guy behind the counter and he answered every question patiently. He even brought out some Montréal smoked meat for us to sample. We also learned that the smoked meat was a beef brisket cured for a week or so, then hot smoked before it's steamed to its completion. If you need a better idea, just imagine something similar to a pastrami or corned beef. If you don't want poutine (Seriously? Then why are you here?), you can opt for a few other menu items like a Montréal smoked meat sandwich or a steamie dog (a steamé if you're in Quebec).
Peruse the simple blackboard menu over the counter and place your order. I had trouble deciding between two of the poutines: the Extreme with the beef, bacon, mushroom and onions, or the Le Belle with smoked meat and beef. Our friendly Canadian behind the counter suggested that I order the Extreme and he could put some smoked meat on there for me. Sold! After we ordered, we took the seats by the window and waited for our delicious tins of hearty noms. Since they weren't busy, they were brought quickly to our table as they were cooked. One by one, the poutine arrived and the conversation slowed while we tucked into decadent chips and meat and cheese and gravy. Oh! The gravy is also vegetarian but there was no way you could tell... it was wonderfully savoury and tasty.
We were checked on a couple of times but not obtrusively. Waters were refilled and our friendly Canadian seemed pleased that we were enjoying our late lunch. There was hot sauces and vinegars by the register if you wanted to dress your poutine. I opted to try mine as it was presented. Next time I'll experiment... but this time I reveled in the crisp chips and my obscene amount of meat products in front of me. The temperature was hot and the curds squeaked like they should. I was damned pleased. I was also nearly in a food coma as we drove back to Seattle but thankfully I was able to stay awake and had no need to eat until the next day.
My final thoughts are La Belle Patate is an unpretentious establishment who have perfected poutine. The dining areas + bathrooms were clean and the guys there were aces. It ain't health food but if you crave carb and meat, come here. You will NOT be disappointed. -
Review from Tori T.
Vacationing in good ol Canadia, I was determined to eat some poutine. So I relied on my trusty Yelp to lead me to this place. We parked on the street, paid the meters, and walked about a block. It definitely is more of a fast food joint than a restaurant. You walk up to a counter to order- the menu is overhead. It was nice that they had a million types of poutine but I just wanted the classic. The guy taking our order was super friendly, playing up the fact that we were American. We grabbed a Molson and the poutine arrived a few minutes later in a take-away aluminum container. eh.
It was a nice day out and they had the front of the store basically open to the sidewalk. A hockey game on the TV made for a fun little piece of Canadian culture (hockey- what's that? I'm from Texas!) There were about 15 people in the store eating, drinking, watching the game- I'm guessing this is a good alternative to watching the game at the pub.
As for the poutine itself, I'm told this is the best in Vancouver. As I didn't try it anywhere else, it was hard to judge. But, I've actually had better poutine in Texas! The fries tasted like the frozen kind, the curds weren't very melty, and the gravy was a little lacking in the flavor department. oh well... -

Tacky places are the shiz~
When you walk in, the place has Montreal plastered all over. Habs banners, Montreal (Quebec) license places, Frenchie-looking staff.. and did I mention Montreal Montreal Montreal? The front windows are open, such that it's like sitting in a covered patio.
They have $19.5 allyoucaneat poutine. If you value your life, don't go for this. It's suicide. But at least you will die happy.
The place was clean, and staff were very friendly. The poutine is served in very practical (and ghetto) takeout aluminum trays.
The biggest complaint my friends and I had about the poutine.. it wasn't served hot enough. The gravy and cheese curds were plentiful, but it wasn't hot enough to make the curds gooey. They were soft instead. But what I did like is that they didn't make the dishes too salty. This is a common issue I have with the competition.
Because of the laid-back atmosphere, it'd also be a good place to bring a date, where you can both wreck yourselves. Recommended. -

I walked by La Belle Patate several times before deciding to go in. I was overwhelmed by the variety of poutine options they had. But I went for a classic poutine and a Montreal smoked meat sandwich.
The poutine was really good. I liked the cheese curds. I'm certainly not a poutine expert but the one thing that annoys me is ordering poutine and getting grate cheesed, or cheese sauce and gravy. You might think I'm joking, but this has happened to me at other restaurants. The fries here were nice and thick and the gravy was delicious. It was only after I ate that I found out the gravy was vegan. I don't know how poutine traditionalists feel about this but I liked it. To me it tasted like regular poutine gravy, but it's a poutine vegetarians can enjoy too.
The smoked meat sandwich was delicious, and simple. Bread, mustard, a nice mound of melt-in-your-mouth smoked meat, and a pickle on the side.
Definitely a place to stop by and try if you're craving a good poutine. -
Review from Johnson C.

Overrated - the gravy is good. But to like their poutine, you must really like soggy fries. The cheese curds? (shrug) The server said that a large smoked meat poutine (~$13) would feed us both -- she guessed wrong. She said she made it extra big as well - eh.
However, the smoked meat toppping was good and I'm interested in checking out our smoked meat sandwich.
Interesting event: someone walked in as we were about to order - found out they didn't have enough smoked meat to make him a sammich... he did a 180 and walked straight back out. Could the smoked meat be the dark horse?
I really can't speak to its authenticity - which seems to be the main selling point of this place. But 'authentic' is not synonymous with 'good'.
The best part about this place is the $5.50 Unibroue bottles - which is quite cheap and difficult to find.
Better places to go for poutine:
- Anny's Dairy Bar
- Costco... I'm not kidding. Half the price and crispy fries.Listed in: Shots Fired

Poutine review again!
My most recent domination? La Belle Patate, I came here and had their traditional poutine. This is what I thought:
CHEESECURDS: Excuse me, can I give out awards for the squeakiest cheese curds? If so, this would be it. Doesn't melt much but traditionally squeaky I'd say.
GRAVY: Medium-dark gravy. A little creamy. A bit salty but tasty. Not sweet, but tastes really good with a bit of ketchup interestingly.
FRIES: Lightly crispy and not stale and made with good potatoes (no odd sour potato after taste). When soaked with sauce, you still have the occasional crispy bite.
Neat tidbit: They have All-You-Can-Eat poutine. (Has anyone ever ordered that?)
Overall, the cheese was really the star of the show for me in this poutine. Seriously, it was in a take-out box and still maintained its unmelted bouncy consistency. Anyway, I would come back. It's definitely in my tops list for poutine.Listed in: Poutine Lover's Guide!

The last time I came here I was much more impressed than my first visit. This time the gravy was hot and made the cheese curds more melty and awesome, while still being squeaky. I had the vegetarian poutine, and I really enjoyed this option. Heck yeah! Thanks for making it hot, boys!
I still wish they would get plates and real forks so you can eat in without having to use the tin foil containers, though.1 Previous Review: Show all »

You know when you have a big night of drinking on Friday and then on Saturday you feel like you have EARNED the right to lay around all day and just keep feeding your insatiable hunger and thirst?
In your mind you justify your lazing about as if you did something massively productive the day before like run a marathon, yet really all you succeeded in was boozing your face off.
WELL...on those kind of days, there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, that I want more than to get a poutine from La Belle Patate. I say to myself, "Lauren, you deserve this!" and relish in every bite of it. Personally I get the one with chicken and peas (it has a proper French name that evades me at the moment), curl up on the couch, and watch some VHS classic on Netflix. The poutine, and moment, is always perfect. -

I heard that La Belle Patate had the best Poutine in the City of Vancouver so in going there I hoped it would be the best Poutine in Vancouver. I was left somewhat disappointed.
For $10 I had a traditional poutine dish and a can of soda. Though the fries were good the gravy was flavorless and the cheese curds tasted waxy. It was good but I left there thinking I could have honestly got the same poutine at New York Fries for cheaper or better Poutine at Costco or Fritz which was down the street.
One thing that I found intriguing was that there was 30 different types of Poutine they can make, but if the basic dish was not all that great I would maybe not want to spend more to try other.
La Belle Patate was a disappointment. -

They, wanted to eat something Canadian.
They wanted something that they haven't had before.
They were brought to La Belle Patate and had Steamies all dressed and Poutine!
They were filled to the belly
They were happy
They were introduced to a new cuisine that they never thought they would have tried before.
They were filled with the knowledge that yes Charlie Brown, there is a Santa Clause in March or the Easter bunny came early with fried potatoes and gravy.
Did you know that their gravy is vegetarian?
And the guys behind the counter are great!2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

At last... I have finally gotten my poutine fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having wanted to use my Groupon for months (I know everyone has probably used theirs already), my cheese cravings convinced me to get poutine.
Never really tried the real "cheese curds" I wasn't sure what the squeakiness was all about. I was ready for this first time experience! Walking into the resto with the bright red walls, it was definitely refreshing to see some east coast hockey memorabilia - Canadians jerseys, maple leafs hat. Very cool.
The gentleman at the counter was extremely polite and had his sales tactics on - convincing us to take a take out menu, introduce it to our friends etc.... they are so friendly :)
We got a medium smoke meat poutine to go, and of course, my Mr. S question whether the medium was going to be large enough for the two of us, in addition to some other food we got. I knew it was going to be plentiful!
I have to say that the poutine was lovely. The gravy was not too salty, and the smoked meat pieces were HUGE. Not what I had expected and it was great. You could really taste the smoked meat. The cheese curds, I'm guessing do not melt crazily because I was hoping they would. I'm probably a fan of the melty cheese more because I am therefore left with munching on chunks of cheese, right?
If I'm feeling like poutine, I'll definitely come back. So many other flavours I want to try! -

I liked their grilled cheese sandwich - the Whoa Boy, with onions and mushrooms better than their poutine!
Even though they use some sort of bright orangey liquid cheese.. I'm ashamed to admit, it's quite delicious. Next time, I'd opt for the Oh Boy, with just mushrooms and no onions.
The beef that they use on their poutine is ground burger meat - nothing special. Stick to the smoked meat.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is incredible. Hands down the best poutine in town. Don't go to Fritz or Zako's or Belgian Fries on Commerical, this is the place.
It's a little bit pricey, so expect to pay close to ten dollars for your guilty pleasure. That's the price we have to pay for authentic Québecois goodness. There are tons of toppings, but I just went for the classics curds and gravy. The curds were mixed through and the gravy heated to the perfect temperature to melt the cheese just enough so it strung itself across my fries perfectly.
If you're even thinking about going, go! -

Hit up this place on the way to the free concerts in Stanley Park with the idea to "eat and walk." Eat and walk. Hah. As soon as we took a bite of this stuff, we knew we had to sit our butt's down and recognize.
The boyfriend ordered the Bacon Poutine, and I had the Smoked Meat Poutine. We watched the guys, who all were super friendly and obviously into their work which was cool, make our poutine fresh. While they were doing that, we browsed around - super cool shop, with lots of East Coast paraphernalia - lots of Canadiens accessories! Very cool.
We got the small - and any more than that probably would have killed me. It was SO rich and delicious - the cheese curds practically squeaked. The gravy was thick and lovely and the smoked meat was perfect. The fries were fresh and steaming hot - everything just worked together. t
The best bit was at the end when it all kind of gooped together at the bottom - it was like a big pile of deliciousness all mixed together.
Try it. I like it better than Fritz's (blasphemy!)
Also...must go back for the sandwiches. When I saw the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich on their menu I almost had to forgo the poutine. Almost.Listed in: Top Restaurants

I recently went here for my first time with a buddy. He got the mexicana poutine and I got the smoked meat version. The staff was super friendly as well.
As for the poutine it was great. The fresh cut fries are obviously a necessity and they were delicious. The gravy was amazing and the smoked meat on mine was a nice touch. The curds were great but my one complaint is that they weren't melty which isn't a big deal because overall the dish was really hot. The Mexican one was pretty good as well with beef, jalapeños and tomatoes added.
I will definitely be back and anyone in the vicinity should try this place. Was it the best poutine I've ever had...well in Vancouver yes but French fry trucks in montreal or Ottawa still take the cake. This was awesome though!!! -

My new favourite poutine place! I go here often now, at least once a week. They will take a order, and you can customize it however you like. I love the Vegetarian without the green peppers.
The staff are usually the same guys and they get to know you rather quickly. Tuesdays they have a small special (2 smalls for 8 bucks), which is not too bad. The medium is very large, and much more than enough for a full dinner. They have a lot of Quebec beers which is nice, and play the hockey game when it's on.
The only complaint I have is that they are Canadiens fans over Cancucks! And they will play a Canadiens game over a Canucks game! Come on! Love the place nonetheless! Beer specials on Canadiens and Cancucks game nights. -

Having visited here for (my first) yelp event with my wife, I was keen to return. We were downtown for the Christmas market, it was cold and I couldn't think of anything better to warm up our core than some poutine! It really hit the spot, we ordered the large deluxe smoked meat to share and it was just the right amount of food.
It's potatos, gravy and cheese curds, so obviously they're making a killing if they can keep the restaurant pretty full. My hats off to them though because it was a very enjoyable meal (can french fries be considered "a meal"?).
They had a reasonable selection of bottled beer that don't break the bank. The fact that almost everyone in the restaurant was speaking french when we were there was both surprising and added a sense of authenticity. -

In search for the ultimate poutine, and a vegetarian poutine at that.. i have succeeded. This place is OK in my books. It's not amazing, but maybe because it wasn't piled high with beef instead. Large fries, creamy grazy, and large cheese curds that weren't really melting.
What bothered me was that they serve there in house poutine in the same dish as 'to go'. It seems like they could be a little more enviro on this.
They had the hockey game on, and deals on local beer. Friendly staff that said good bye to everyone added some charm.Listed in: Davie St. b#*tches

Mmm, smoked meat poutine and "squeaky" cheese curds. YUM. I'm glad I got to try something new, and the guy who worked the cashier was really nice and helpful when we asked him to recommend some other places on the street.

My first real, true Canadian poutine experience! And it did not disappoint. I think my favorite part of the ordering process was when Andrea R asked if they had a salad or veggie and the guy at the register looked at her with a puzzled expression and said, "We really aren't that kind of place."
I ordered the bacon poutine and they added green peas to it upon request. The atmosphere here is totally casual. You order from a seriously long listing of poutine options at the counter and they'll shout it out when it's ready. The seating is pretty small, but not ridiculously so.
I also ate a grilled cheese sandwich that was pretty basic, but hey the star of the show here are the fries covered in cheese curds (that squeak!) and gravy. They do serve beer and naturally sweetened with cane sugar sodas like grape or cream to wash all that gravy goodness down.Listed in: Tiffany C's adventures in…

Although borderline sacrilegious, I decided to not order the poutine and instead splurged on the smoked meat sandwich.
The smoked meat was excellent and plentiful. The fries that accompanied were decent. All in all a good place, although at $12 this place gets a little pricey. -

I was being dragged around after work by the BF, when I started to get the hungry, and I knew it was gonna be bad. Before this nasty feeling turned into hanger (angry hunger) I had to get something in my belly. Then I spotted La Belle Patate.
It was a pretty chill place, and being as hot as it was, everyone was kinda kicked back since only crazy people like me order hot poutine on one of the hottest days of the year. The staff all jumped up to serve me and were super friendly. These guys knew their poutine, and were able to answer all of my questions about the ingredients in the gravy without making me feel like an inferior vegetarian. Their gravy is actually wheat-based, so I don't have to worry about animal-juices in my fries and gravy, and it tasted delish! The veggie poutine has green peppers, onion, and mushrooms added to it, so you actually get a little nutrition with your side of calories.
I did think that the price was a little hefty for the small size of the fries, but it is a specialty store, so I guess it's to be expected. If you are looking for a hangover cure on Davie, this place is open until 3am, and they have tables and chairs inside, unlike Fritz, so you can get your carbs and then pass out until you get your ass kicked to the curb. I'll be back.... possibly after a night on the town!Listed in: Beers, Steers and Queers

I swear I could eat it every day, but I always have so much guilt afterward.
This place makes amazing authentic poutine, I love love love the cheese curd, I actually get extra! he he!
The steamies are super yummy too. It is definitely the place to go if you feel like being indulgent
