I looooove HK style cafes and this is one of my all time favorites!
I've been here a couple times for lunch, afternoon specials, and dinner and I have always left satisfied and happy :)
Today, I sampled two dishes from their afternoon specials menu- Panfried Fish Fillet with Cream Sauce and Potato Salad with Grilled Prawns. The fish fillet has always been one of my favourite dishes- the fish fillet was fried perfectly golden with a super delicious and rich, creamy sauce and comes with a side of spaghetti. The potato salad wasn't bad and the prawns were grilled perfectly but I have sampled better dishes. Their afternoon specials menu also includes some pasta dishes, baked rice and pasta, sandwiches, burgers, fried rice...and they are all pretty good with a price range of around $6-8 with a drink included. Their lunch menu has less variety but features the same sort of dishes but includes soup as well.
La Amigo Restaurant is cozy and quiet. Service isn't great but good enough. -

Came here with Vincent N. to see what this was all about, with the 4.5 stars was about.
Parking may or may not be sufficient in the lot out front. Depends on which day you come.
I must say that it's a bit unusual to have a HK-style cafe with a Mexican theme, but they manage to pull this off somewhat tastefully. The walls are a bright yellow, and the decorations look *somewhat* authentic.
I had the Thai style chicken salad. This was.. different. It was definitely creative, but it also had the taste of rubber gloves for some reason. The chicken is really some breaded cutlet (similar to tonkatsu), and the salad "dressing" is plum sauce. It would've worked, but that glove taste overwhelmed everything, making me slightly sick as I ate the thing. Maybe i got unlucky.
Since nobody else seemed to have this problem, maybe it's a one-off. But because of this, I'm not sure I'll be back. -

I'm HK style cafes fans! I have been there so many times for lunch and dinner and found it served good food and not disappointed me.
I like their western set menu/dishes more than Chinese style dishes.
The pork chop spaghetti in black pepper sauce was good. -

Just went there last night for dinner, I haven't been there in years and seems like management and menu sure changed.
Late night mini-meals with a drink started at 9 and they had the usual common items on the menu, not as abundent as some of the other HK-style cha-chaan-tang (cafes). The portions were about half of their full dinners and taste quite good. Pricing is between $6.95-7.95. I'll add that to my mini-meal list. -

Local friends took my family and I to dinner at this cafe (full disclosure: I think my parents knew the owners). The food was absolutely incredible. There are a lot of items on the menu and they show a lot of inventiveness. The food we ordered was absolutely fantastic. I was feeling a little ill so I only had hot lemon tea and tomato soup and both made me feel a lot better. Others in my family had fish and noodle dishes that smelled incredible (and I hear they tasted great too!).

Just another cafe serving up the Western Dishes that I most likely order. The ambiance is very warm, as the cafe sports warm colours of reds and oranges.
& I agree, I really do like the cream rather than the veggie soup. -

Great Hong Kong style cafe style food. Good assortment of specials. "Russian Borscht" is rather bland though....more like watered down vegetable soup. I would go for the usual cream style soup instead.
