Review from Tom C.
Simply one of my favorite pubs in the world. Historic and charming but unpretentious. Top notch, if small, beer selection including limited editions from Unibroue as well as some nice offerings from Achouffe and other Belgians.
Location in Lower Town attracts tourists day and night, but luckily the right kind and never too many.
Highly recommended.
(Updated: They recently added big TVs in the back room and they really detract from the atmosphere. Hope to see them gone on my next visit.) -
Review from Loli L.
We found ourselves in this cozy stone home for happy beer the other night. It was a nice place to hide away from the cold. It's small so it doesn't take much to make it feel crowded.
Ideal for people who like stone walls and beer.Listed in: Happy times in Quebec

Nice place. It's in a touristy part of town, but the bar itself didn't feel very touristy.
The selection of beers they had was pretty good, but the only American beer they had on hand was Budweiser. That's a shame. They had a selection of high-quality Belgian beers and the Québecois microbrews. -

Like having a drink on your basement if you lives in a 400 yr old castle. Made utterly charming by curved stone ceiling, stacks of wood and the faint whiff of wood smoke from the barmaid stoked fireplace.
Good beer selection and an eclectic scotch menu. Eating here didn't seem like a viable option, but we'll be back for another drink. -

Highly recommended! Great, cozy atmosphere in a historical building. Outstanding beer quality, and reasonable selection. Also, hands down best hot dog in Canada! Great pub style menu and very reasonable prices. This is a must visit when I am in Quebec City. Can't wait to go back!

It would be hard to NOT give this five stars as it was pretty much the only place open within the city walls at 11 PM on a Saturday. Still, the beer selection was good and reasonably priced, there were lots of locals, service was great, and the interior is worth the trip itself. Definitely worth a visit.

L'Oncle Antoine was a nice, cozy little bar. We only stopped in for a quick drink while we were walking around the city, but the atmosphere was great and the service was fast and friendly. The building itself has a very charming appearance from the outside, and the inside is nice too with brick walls and comfortable chairs and tables that have been worn in with years and years of use. The location is great too, it's right on a quaint little side street, and there are plenty of tables outside so that you can sit out on a nice day and enjoy the beauty of Old Quebec. Next time I'm in the city, I will definitely be stopping in again for another drink.

Great spot, just off the uber touristy area but still gets it's fair share of tourist foot traffic. So - a great place to people watch! We were naturally drawn by the Unibroue signage, and the fact they had a limited edition Marie-Clarisse wheat bear (yummy!). Patio was great on a hot early June day, inside felt a bit stuffy but I can see it feeling nice on a cooler day. FYI, all we had was beer, can't comment on the food. Selection is pretty basic pub stuff, but I think it's secondary to the awesome selection of brews in this joint!

Recommended in Lonely Planet. At the time we visited the tap included mostly Canadian brews: 4 Unibroue selections, Sleeman Silver Creek lager (on special for $5), Okanagan pale ale, a cider, etc. A good selection, though by the description I had been looking for a bit more. The inside has that lovely old European basement feel. It also appears they had a 4-7 $6 for 2 beers happy hour. On a Tuesday afternoon the place was being run by 2 people: a cocktail waitress and a bartender who was also making the food in a small oven. We didn't eat, but the sausage sandwiches looked good... However, be careful! The waitress was preparing a great deal of food by hand without washing. Also, the ham for the ham sandwiches were being heated in plastic in a microwave! And the waitresses seemed to be chatting inside more than they were tending to all the patrons sitting outside on a lovely Quebec day. Alas. The place still has some good beer and a fine ambiance.

Oldest bar in the city with a friendly and chatty staff. The beer selection is pretty good & the prices are very reasonable. The space is dark and cozy. Overall a great spot for a beer and relaxation while roaming the city.

Just a really lovely old bar, one of this oldest of cities' oldest of pubs, featuring good local beers and a friendly and knowledgeable bar tender (even en anglais). Was a quiet summer night, enjoyed the excellent IPA from Brasserie l'Alchemiste and sat on the patio until it closed and we were moved inside. Inside the music was a little too loud (and there was no reason to have TVs on in such a gorgeous old space) but the overall ambiance made up for it.

I was there new years eve for a quick pint. $5 for a pint is one of the better deals in Quebec. While you are in the lower town stop in for a quick drink. Very unusual place and a very friendly staff
